How's the low rpm PARTIAL throttle response? The C7 I owned for 3 weeks had poor low rpm PARTIAL throttle response. The throttle was like an on and off button. Wondering if GM has improved that in this car?
people seem to have very different perceptions of this. When I first test drove the C7 I felt the same sluggish, laggy low rpm throttle response but I linked this to the fact that there was a 300lb salesman in the car. When I had my C7 delivered I felt the same way. FOR ME, the c7 does not offer crisp immediate throttle response at lower throttle inputs, at least compared to other cars I have driven/owned. It is not a linear progressive natural feeling throttle. My main motivation for getting a C7 was low end torque and instant response. But it didn't offer that for me.
+Lava Peter - "FOR ME, the c7 does not offer crisp immediate throttle response at lower throttle inputs, at least compared to other cars I have driven/owned. It is not a linear progressive natural feeling throttle." I understand that you're trying to frame this in the context of your own experiences, but my experiences are different. I have not experienced any of the lag you're talking about, and part of that is because of the direct injection which gives it much more response at lower RPM than for example the non-DI LS3 in the C6 Corvette. Part of it may also have to do with which mode you were in at the time, as response is softer in touring mode than it is in track mode. I'm assuming you tested that already to verify.
Vernon Price i kept the car in sport or track mode and still felt this same lag/unresponsiveness...in 2 seperate cars...and for 3 weeks with the one i owned...but we all perceive differently
Well, I know what lag is, and I can't really apply that word to my Stingray's low RPM part throttle response. Mine is quite responsive. But just as a benchmark, what car, in your experience, does have good low RPM part throttle response?
I just ordered one of these last week. apparently Hyper Blue is super rare and no dealer within 800 miles would do a dealer trade so I had to order. 6-10 weeks
Andrew McGinnis I can't wait. I've already ordered some rock guards from zl1addons, I hear they are required because how many rocks the 285s305s pick up. going to start getting some quotes for ppf too. 10 weeks is so far away
Lincoln yeah, that's smart. The rock chips are a real thing. I did PPF and got the oem splash guards. They help for sure. The PPF is a must. Any other plans? I did the ZL1addon wicker bill spoiler and couple other small things. You will love the car. It's amazing!
Lincoln lol. Lucky for me I live in Houston and don't need winter wheels. New tires with not be cheap tho. I plan on getting the Mpss. The stock tires do not like the rain
Yes an automatic BRZ/FRS, Are pretty awful in he auto, but but, at least he is driving a manual now, he admitted it, not everyone learned to drive a stick properly at a young age, I learned when I was 13, my dad was a huge car guy, and a lot of my older friends had manual cars, but not everyone is the same.
Isamu Wallace my Focus RS has soft touch plastic everywhere on the dash upper and doors, not the nasty hard stuff they use in the Camaro. Big difference.
Isamu Wallace but he never ruled out his focus though? He's clearly comparing them to European cars that simply have better quality despite American cars being high value for performance. I mean when was the last time you saw someone driving a Cadillac or Lincoln instead of Benz or German equivalents that actually had a brain
I couldn’t care less about the cars dashboard hardness level. I like Matt’s reviews but sometimes he strikes me as the kind of guy who would sit around comparing fancy watches at a party.
Its awesome to see that people are starting to see the light..... enough of the rose tinted douche BMW goggles..... (I own an E36 before you start bitching) they are not what they used to be. Here's to American Muscle, Here's to American track/handling domination!
To think that this in 1LE form is as quick as the M3/4 and yet costs a good $20k less in base form it's time. I hate to think what the 1LE ZL1 is going to offer up, closest you get out of Germany (in the same category) is the BMW M4 GTS at a bargain price of $150k..... of which is already being beaten/matched by the GT350 at half the price. Mercedes-AMG C63 S again at double the cost, They are being trumped by the Yanks on the track, in the looks department (IMO) and by price point by a country mile. So I think we already there, just a shame the EU market has so many road blocks, expensive fuel, tax etc.
Jesus people are fucking delusional. The owner brings the car specifically for me to critique. That is literally the whole point. You want an ass kissing? Go watch Jay Leno.
Almost done paying my 2014 ss off but really want the 2018 since they are way better in every way idk if i wanna start all over but damm the new ss are so fast
It was hard not to cringe when he said, "my last car was a BMW '3 series', Dinan Stage 1..... so I'm a hard core German car guy" Unless you spend the value of the car in repair bills the first 3 months of ownership and the next car you buy is another BMW- I don't think you qualify as a HCGCG. IMO 🤘🤣 In all seriousness, congrats on the sweet whip, man! The previous gen 1LE has tickled my fancy. The new ones look BEAST!
I'm a hardcore pornography fan, but the closest I've ever gotten to making one was is when my mom took a picture of me getting a hair cut at Walmart while I was masturbating under the apron they make you wear.
GM cost cutting is what that is. Rather than having two different steering wheels they just change what the paddles do on the manual cars. As it was said above, they turn the rev-match on and off in the manuals.
rbeaton16 actually its better than that. The paddles are programable, like most of the functions of the other buttons. Just like the rotary style climate controls; A 1LT uses the right for fan control, a 2LT uses it for dual climate. If you have the right software you could get the paddles to do whatever you want
It's worth noting even the lowly V6 1LE runs with your unforgiving crude unrefined track toy Focus RS and beats it around a race track. GM has properly embarrassed Ford on so many levels. The Camaro 1LE is a car you can take your mother to dinner in with no excuses and it will wipe the floor on a racetrack with cars two or three times its price let alone your similarly priced concrete suspension Focus RS that's embarrassed by even the normally aspirated V6 rental car engined Camaro. You need to update your personal ride to reflect the times. The Focus RS came in 6th out of 6 in Motor Trends comparison. It's completely embarrassed by the Camaro. How much did Ford pay you to buy that embarrassing P.O.S.?
Same thing in Australia a wrx is $40000 aud and a commodore ss is $45000 . Your chevy ss with economy pack . $45000 aud dollars gets you a v8 with 415 hp . Wrx $40000 with 270 hp . which one would you buy ??
In what MT comparison did the Focus RS come in 6th of 6??? The only time I've seen them review it at all was against the Golf R, which the Focus handily won. I don't think the Focus RS is a bad car at all, but the alpha chassis Camaro's are kicking everyone's ass in performance per dollar.
Shared Knowledge They're two completely different platforms though... If you're going to compare the Camaro to a Ford, compare the V6 Mustang to instead of the 4-banger hot hatch RS.

When is the last time anyone has touched their dash? Besides to clean dust off
BMW and Chevy I like this guy
Ive always liked the white with black, the contrast just speaks out to me
I just ordered one of these last week. apparently Hyper Blue is super rare and no dealer within 800 miles would do a dealer trade so I had to order. 6-10 weeks
Lincoln it is! I drove 5 hours to get my Hyper blue 1le. It was worth the drive though.
Nope no other plans yet, just gotta start saving for winter wheels/tires and the money to replace the goodyears when they go out at like 10k miles lol
Lincoln lol. Lucky for me I live in Houston and don't need winter wheels. New tires with not be cheap tho. I plan on getting the Mpss. The stock tires do not like the rain
Best car I have ever owned!
My 17 1LE is all out fun!
I love these new camaros especially the 1le i got the privilege to drive one for 270 miles for work
Edgar Robles did you drive my 1LE from Houston to San Antonio? :)
Carlos Cintron no it was in Virginia but that would of been pretty sweet to have driven your 1le :)
this guy is good. think he could start his own channel. comes across very well as a TV personality !
It's a young Mathew Perry (Chandler)...
Dan Ryan 17 again?
lmao knew he looked familiar
I love the Goodyear F1 supercar tires!
He learned to drive manual on this car. So his brz was an automatic. Gross.
Yeah that's what I said to myself while watching it too, lol
Yes an automatic BRZ/FRS, Are pretty awful in he auto, but but, at least he is driving a manual now, he admitted it, not everyone learned to drive a stick properly at a young age, I learned when I was 13, my dad was a huge car guy, and a lot of my older friends had manual cars, but not everyone is the same.
Phillip Berk I learned at around 13 with a 3sp column shift.. As a kid everyone but some girls drove manual. Different era
You got to start somewhere.
who cares?
About time you do the SS 1LE
I'm sorry, and your Ford Focus is completely plastic free??
Complaining about plastics is a bit meager.
I think it's more regarding the quality of the plastics. make the dashboard a soft touch plastic, not some hard scratchy shit
Isamu Wallace my Focus RS has soft touch plastic everywhere on the dash upper and doors, not the nasty hard stuff they use in the Camaro. Big difference.
TheSmokingTire Hard plastic hold up better over time while soft touch and leather dashes will fade and crack much sooner
TheSmokingTire The 2ss 1le will solve that! You can also buy the soft touch pieces after market if you really want to.
Isamu Wallace but he never ruled out his focus though? He's clearly comparing them to European cars that simply have better quality despite American cars being high value for performance. I mean when was the last time you saw someone driving a Cadillac or Lincoln instead of Benz or German equivalents that actually had a brain
prepares for One Take by reading cars manual. This guys a champion
Great car, great review... omg, stop hitting the dash!!
Motor trend NEEDS to do a head to head GT350 vs. SS 1LE, get on it johnny and jason!
I couldn’t care less about the cars dashboard hardness level. I like Matt’s reviews but sometimes he strikes me as the kind of guy who would sit around comparing fancy watches at a party.
How often do people actually touch their dashboards? I don’t have a Camaro but I never touch mine. If that keeps the price down, outstanding....
Its awesome to see that people are starting to see the light..... enough of the rose tinted douche BMW goggles..... (I own an E36 before you start bitching) they are not what they used to be. Here's to American Muscle, Here's to American track/handling domination!
StankBeast I wouldn't talk about "domination" just yet
I love American cars but what BMW offers, no American offers yet.
Love to know what it is BMW offers that the yanks don't?
I think Audi and Mercedes make beautiful interiors but BMW not so much.
Really great that GM is using a lot of the Corvette's ride control features in the newer Camaros 👍
hey i'll bring my lifted silverado for us to take a a spin in the canyons
Luke lol
Luke a good point he needs to do some trucks
by "spin" do you mean "roll"?
Please do. It would definitely be interesting!
Luke you said lifted ?? get out of here !!!
never seen you so happy in a camaro.
Was Matt high in this? Keeps knocking on the dash, mocking the owner who missions down to LA for this?
Jesus people are fucking delusional. The owner brings the car specifically for me to critique. That is literally the whole point. You want an ass kissing? Go watch Jay Leno.
As a car guy, you don't hit someone else's dash board 3 times like that.
Rob Wwhit oh, please. I don't know who arbitrarily decided dash boards have feelings. But they don't.
It's not about the dashboard feelings it's not you're new car...you know what i'm saying.. later BIG GUY.
Since when is missions a verb? Plus, Matt clearly loved the car, as have, all the other journeys who've driven a Camaro with the 1LE.
Almost done paying my 2014 ss off but really want the 2018 since they are way better in every way idk if i wanna start all over but damm the new ss are so fast
You can always put a nice piece of carpet on the dash.
Very enjoyable One Take. Two dudes being honest AF and saying how it is. Well done, gents 👍
I like that you say the fuck word more now, matt
always adds a touch of class
It was hard not to cringe when he said, "my last car was a BMW '3 series', Dinan Stage 1..... so I'm a hard core German car guy"
Unless you spend the value of the car in repair bills the first 3 months of ownership and the next car you buy is another BMW- I don't think you qualify as a HCGCG. IMO 🤘🤣
In all seriousness, congrats on the sweet whip, man! The previous gen 1LE has tickled my fancy. The new ones look BEAST!
Just get a good artificial leather dashboard cover
I love the rev match feature, personally.
I would slap someone for knocking on my dash like that
That's just Matt's deep seeded hate for the Camaro in general. He's a ford boy thru and thru.
Trevor Puckett facts. It was so disrespectful and he did it multiple times
X V telling someone you don't like their shoes is completely fine. Repeatedly stepping on them while you say it is disrespectful.
nigga you gay
Big frank take it easy Riley
The only time I've ever touched my dashboard was to wipe the dust off, the whole dashboard quality argument in a car built for track is just silly.
Hardcore German automotive fan than goes on to say he's owned an impala brz and 3 series lmao
I think he meant that he's a big fan of German cars, not that he's necessarily owned loads of them.
Bolek989 automatic brz and automatic 3series i may add....
I'm a hard core millionaire fan, I don't own a million dollars...
shit I can't be a fan of something unless I own it
Bolek989 im a big fan of the Dodgers yet i dont own the team.
Matt,
That Ghost Bezel Sub 😍😍😍
Bob's Watches has got the right stuff 👌🏻
that e38 tho 😮
its a shit car
exactly. don't see why people like POS old bimmers.
The fact that he’s talking about the materials being trashy n hitting them with pull force with his hand hurts my soul
Hey Matt stop knocking the fucking dashboard again and again. It's fine knocking it once to prove the point.
Matt!!! Is that a Rolex Yachtmaster Rhodium Dial? Been thinking of picking one up. If it is, let me know how you like it.
"hard core german guy", only had 1 german car. 👏🏻
Arcnolokgia he means he's a big fan.
Arcnolokgia ima hard core japanese guy but i have a hyudai....
I wonder why he did not specify which 3 Series
I'm a hardcore pornography fan, but the closest I've ever gotten to making one was is when my mom took a picture of me getting a hair cut at Walmart while I was masturbating under the apron they make you wear.
Arcnolokgia I am a huge German car fan and I only have 1 German vehicle...
I'm looking at one EXACTLY like this, even the same color - hoping to pick it up this weekend.
why does it have paddles on the wheel if its a 6 speed manual ?
Mustang 487 the paddles activate/deactivate auto revmatch
Great vid Matt!
That e38 looks really sweet a bit to low but sweet no the less
IT'S A MANUAL WITH PADDLE SHIFTERS??
They are for revmatch.
I like this guy. He's pretty cool. Nice car bro
It's built locally that why it's cheaper than imports
Same thing in Australia a wrx is $40000 aud and a commodore ss is $45000 . Your chevy ss with economy pack . $45000 aud dollars gets you a v8 with 415 hp . Wrx $40000 with 270 hp . which one would you buy ??
In what MT comparison did the Focus RS come in 6th of 6??? The only time I've seen them review it at all was against the Golf R, which the Focus handily won.
I don't think the Focus RS is a bad car at all, but the alpha chassis Camaro's are kicking everyone's ass in performance per dollar.
Shared Knowledge lmao shut up loser
Shared Knowledge They're two completely different platforms though... If you're going to compare the Camaro to a Ford, compare the V6 Mustang to instead of the 4-banger hot hatch RS.
Such a sexy car. The looks alone make me want one!
