  • Super 8 film compilation from 1967 mostly from the Point Loma (San Diego) area and Point Loma High School. I expect my audience to be extremely limited, but UA-cam is the ideal way to share with them. Clip starts with a drive up Point Loma Ave. with Point Loma Liquor on the left. Camera is sitting on the dash of my dad's 1959 T-Bird which I ultimately wrecked, but not due to drinking. At 5:55 I am headed east on Interstate 8 and you can see the sign on the right for the King's Inn Grill in Mission Valley - that sign still exists.
At 6:05 I am at Point Loma High School filming the Plymouth Troubleshooting Contest, where 3-man teams of the best high school auto shop seniors compete to see who can repair their disabled vehicle and drive it to the finish line. If you attended Point Loma HS and where in the Pep Band, you may be in this clip.
At 9:33 there is a gas sign (rotated 90 degrees - I don't know why), gas was 34 cents a gallon.
At 15:30 into the clip I was walking along Midway Drive and filming neon signs at night. I think it was Midway Dr., but it may have been West Point Loma Blvd. or Rosecrans St. - which ever one had the Shakey's Pizza Parlor. (If you've seen me, you know I have spent much of my life at pizza parlors).
Balance of the clip is at home or around the Point Loma area. If you feel this 18 minute clip is too long, the original was 38 minutes, so don't bother to thank me.
There is no sound. A tripod was never used. Much of the clip is under exposed, over exposed, out-of-focus or some combination. Now that you, the UA-cam viewing public are aware of these numerous short commings, don't let that hinder your posting of vicious, cruel, insulting or degrading feedback questioning my religion, sexual orientation, mental competency or abuse of legal/illegal substances. (If someone from the future had traveled back in time to tell me to use 35mm professional movie equipement so it would appear better made for the future Internet audience, I doubt I would have listened. What self respecting 17 year old ever pays attention to an adult?) Thanks for watching.

Hey, I'm currently a sophomore attending PLHS and will (hopefully) graduate in 2021. I think it's absolutely brilliant that somebody posted this bit of history...PLHS was certainly beautiful back in the day! Now it's a jumble of un-matching buildings from different time eras and since they are currently modernizing the whole campus the construction is really having a huge impact on the schools overall appearance. Anyway, thanks for uploading! I shared this with some of my friends and we all agreed this was pretty dope!

I watched the highschool get remodeled in the 70's. Watched the wrecking ball do it's job. Attended in the early 80's. Frequented the new round library building at the front of the school. There were no fences around the front of the school. We could come and go as we pleased. Now I see that the round library building is completely gone and a fence completely surrounds the school. I would feel like a prisoner.
