One of the most powerful tools in SketchUp is the ability to use components to create repeating shapes.
This SketchUp tutorial will teach you to quickly utilize components to create stairs.
Thank you ! Your explanation was so easy to follow. Gonna try modelling some stairs today! :D
Sweet! Let me know how it goes!
vey helpful. thank u so much now i can complete my homework
👍👍
Good work sir love it if you are a beginner then pts cad expert, Auto cad Hindi & micro cadd are prouiding helpful content
Great stuff but what about changing the pitch of the stairs? What if you want the stairs to arrive at a certain point above?
Don't ask difficult questions. We only built stairs to the stars.
loved it can you do the stringers with the rise and run dimensions?
I guess I don't understand - you should be able to do that using this method, so...yes?
thanks sir your explanation is very good thanks i am learning from you guru g:)
Thank you for this tutorial, you just made me sigh with relief hehehe as for needing support...floating stairs will work great for me!! :D
Lol - thanks for watching! :)

Thanks!
i liked ur video and subscribed it... i found it very usefull... can yo teach me sketchup personally ???plzzz
Probably not - I'm pretty buried right now and can't really do one on one training - you can check out the course at www.thesketchupessentials.com/course
For some reason I cant put the "x" length (min 4 in the video) thanks!
try * if you have a PC with windows.
When entering x12 I get invalid length entered message!
*12, not x12
@@Thesketchupessentials thanks very much for taking the time to reply and now .. one more problem propped up(sorry to be a pain): treble-click to group a component is not always working (on windows) as sometimes 3 clicks in the row makes everything go blue lines instead of the geometry (as you refer to it) i'm after - the window in my case...holding ctrl kind of just makes it but tried to fly like you did with 3 clicks! (trying to ran before i could walk --sometimes you are fast to follow other-times you are slow enough but that the interesting part of your videos; advice to everyone-else: is to pay attention to every step & no trying to skip! It took me few runs get the window grouped & as a component though it pays off!
Tanks
Thanks for watching!
Nice😍
:)
I wish I had two accounts, so that I could like this video twice.
LOL - Thanks!
This isn't useful. When you change the tread height from 6 to 7in the entire stair height should increase. Which in this case it doesn't.
you bore me
FR DUDE
Your a genius man I have learned a lot from you to be honest I studied auto cad long time ago and I haven’t taken ketch up clases and with you I learned a lot not I’m making my own house in sketch up roof wall everything on layers as a profesional thanks 🙏 so much

House elevation walkthrough in sketchup in next video
I don't see any input field to enter x12 using Sketchup 17. Is this option unavailable in the free Sketchup Make version?
Thanks for the tutorial for strait stairs. Can you do one for a winder style, 2 steps up then 90 degree (consisting of 3 steps) turn to the right, 4 steps then 90 degree turn to the right again and then 1 step? Or something like it?
The good things with your videos that I'm learning the English conversation which help me in my office when I talked with my clients thank you
Thank you
👍👍
Great mind! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
What about the angle of stairs,
How to change model(people)?
Guys.... The video may not have complete detail of the stair... The very important part that we learn fast and simple way to model stair and free.... Thanks Justin.
Thanks Roger! The idea was that once you have an understanding of the way that components work in SketchUp, then you can create any kind of stair you want! Thanks again!
i just love this. Many thanks.
Thank you so much! This helped me a lot.

This is very nice, but my question is how to modify the standard straight stair component to spiral component...
Hi there! I've done a couple videos on a couple ways to make spiral staircases - try these - ua-cam.com/video/mBCGyWWX2HY/v-deo.html , ua-cam.com/video/wkoYdpzDOS0/v-deo.html - Thanks!
Your tutorial was really very comprehensive. As I am a Max guy, now trying to model in Sketchup, I found the tutorial very helpful. Is there any chance, you can make a tutorial on exterior and interior modelling based on a Autocad drawing, complete with rendering?
Are you talking about importing a CAD file, or are you talking about tracing on top of a CAD drawing to create 3D geometry?
when i entered x12 and hit enter button it say , invalid length entered. plss help
Change your language back to the one you use with SketchUp :)

You made a nice video but forget to deal with the most important part of the stairs support for it so called "stringers"
Hi Horia - you're correct - I didn't show stringers in this video. The purpose of the video was more to demonstrate the benefits of using components, but you definitely would not want to walk on a stair built this way! :) Thanks for watching!
