Kunstmuseum Behangschilderij Snijder&CO

Eind 2020 hebben wij voor het Kunstmuseum Den Haag een behangschilderij gemaakt als achtergrond voor de tentoonstelling "Haagse Bluf".
Het werk is geïnspireerd op het kleurrijke porselein uit de 18de eeuw, gemerkt met een ooievaar. Je zou denken dat dit overduidelijk porselein uit Den Haag is, maar eigenlijk is het een staaltje Haagse bluf. Onderzoek in de twintigste eeuw wees namelijk uit dat de decoraties weliswaar zijn aangebracht in de hofstad, maar dat het porselein zelf is geïmporteerd uit onder andere het Duitse Ansbach en het Belgische Doornik. Dat neemt echter niet weg dat het Haagse porselein destijds perfect aansloot op de internationale mode en erg geliefd was. Kunstmuseum Den Haag bezit een grote collectie Haags porselein en toont een ruime selectie in de tentoonstelling Haagse bluf - Porselein 1776-1790. Te zien tot 5 december 2021.

At the end of 2020, we made a wallpaper painting for the Kunstmuseum Den Haag as the background for the exhibition "Haagse Bluf".
The work is inspired by the colorful porcelain from the 18th century, marked with a stork. You would think that this is obviously porcelain from The Hague, but actually it is a piece of Hague bluff. Research in the twentieth century showed that although the decorations were made in the court city, the porcelain itself was imported from, among others, the German Ansbach and the Belgian Doornik. However, the Hague porcelain was perfectly suited to international fashion at the time and was very popular. Kunstmuseum Den Haag has a large collection of Hague porcelain and shows a wide selection in the exhibition The Hague Bluff - Porcelain 1776-1790. On view until 5 December 2021.
