- Zouk and West Coast Swing Champions, Diego & Jessica from Brazil demonstrate Zouk dance to the Zouk Workshop at Dance Sport Dupont (dancesportdupont.com).
They're visiting from Brazil!
Hot, hot, hot!
So glad this video is still available! I came across it last year and then it disappeared! These two are amazing! Tomorrow they will be teaching West Coast Swing (no doubt, flavoured with Zouk) in London, UK. Can't wait!! Thank you uploader!
It makes me chuckle to hear people say Diego and Jess aren't dancing Zouk. Sounds like many West Coast Swing dancers who don't want other dance styles to influence some movements in the dance. But dances are always evolving and integrating other dance movements. expand your minds people.
Matt Nicholls i know zouk from Brazil and this is so that! They're good! People shouldn't refuse the new!
I see Zouk body isolations but with WCS steps. So Swouk :)
I dance West Coast Swing, Zouk and Modern Jive (Ceroc). I do these three styles because they are so compatible, interchangeable and overlap. The have major fundamental differences in their basics, but the style of moves are still so compatible. I believe all styles should keep changing, evolving and morphing to suit the dancers, the music, the time and place. This was a wonderful dance to see. The track reminded me of an industrial style dance done on Burn the Floor (stage show traveling dance in a dozen + different styles).
They were still using the Zouk step throughout, not doing 6 and 8 count steps like WCS though... I didn't spot a time they really spent using WCS steps. Often enough in dancing a double does get exchanged for the full 4 count bar of a zouk step, but nothing out of the ordinary in this video foot work wise. But the moves were really cool and a great way of combing and developing style.
This demo got me into Brazilian Zouk 2015! So beautiful!
Beautiful! Lots of fusion, Imo. More circular and less on the slot than WCS and definitely beginning to like the hairography, neck and upper back movements (when led gently) ... but then again WCS is getting more circular - so love how people use all the tools for expression.
I’m from Haiti and what was that? Martinique, Guadeloupe vini sove nous .
Everyone to ther own, this couple move in beautiful unison .a joy to watch
Gorgeous zoukeros!
I think these two are great! Just great. Why is everyone making that noise the end?
Estos dos bailan muy bien el Zouk! me encanta!
I have no idea what zouk is, but I wanna take their class :P
love this ! very harmonious and sensual !
Still super cool!!!
This is not Zouk like a lot of other commenters have already commented. Zouk is a dance that is danced without you moving from your partner but staying extra close to them and move you waist, legs and such.
It is Zouk (Brazilian Zouk) look for videos like Dadinho & Aline Miami Zouk or Wiliam & Paloma
whiner00 Before a few months ago, I only knew of the original Zouk from the Caribbean.
This dance have nothing to do with any other dance from The French Carebbean. The lambada dancers named the new lambada Zouk because of the music. Some of Kaoma music was from French Caribe
whiner00 What French Caribbean? I didn't know the European nation France owned a region.
rosedaline valetine
I did not say the French own any region I was talking about the the French speaker part of Caribe the French Caribbean islands.
wish that song was in Spotify!
it is!!!! :)
dancaroma the zouk version?
Beautiful!
Ok to help people out. This is Brazilian zouk.
Brazilian Zouk is a dance that developed from the Brazilian dance Lambada. The dance is now combined with a variety of music, including Caribbean Zouk music, which is how the dance came to be known as Zouk.
now, whatever those other guys did it the two videos before... this is dancing
I don't understand why people keep dancing like it has no song playing at all!? It is not zouk! Zouk follows the song, the rythm, there is no extra fast movements like those... This is just ridiculous...
Would like to learn this
what is the name of a song??
This is what we call Zouk in Brazil...or Brazilian Zouk in the US. Of course it borrows elements from other genres (Salsa, WCS and even Samba de Gafieira) as it's a newer style than the other partner dances and was developed in Brazil after the demise of Lambada in the early 90's...not the Zouk from the islands but definitely Zouk : )
Influencia da Lambada nao Salsa
ZOUK comes from Lambada and has nothing to do with Salsa,WCS or Samba.Lambada comes from dances like Maxixe that is known in US as Castle Maxixe
+whiner00 I never said it came from salsa or whatever else. Of course it didn't!! Here's a text from DanceBuzz.com:
Brazilian Zouk is most popular in Brazil but is also one of the fastest growing social partner dances on all continents. Outside of Brazil the dance is known as Brazilian Zouk or Zouk Lambada to differentiate it from the Caribbean Zouk, a dance which looks completely different. In Brazil however the dance is popular simply by the name zouk.Brazilian Zouk also know as Zouk Lambada is a partner dance originating from the forbidden dance lambada and developed under the influence of the Caribbean zouk music, R&B and other music containing the zouk beat. The dance has been influenced by different dance styles like salsa, tango, rumba, contemporary dance and hip-hop /street dance.Danced to a large variety of music - R&B, Pop, Urban, Latin, Raggaeton and Middle Eastern sounds, Brazilian Zouk is getting its deserved popularity in the UK and around the world.Brazilian Zouk is a trendy dance and can be fun or sensual but yet energetic and can be enjoyed not only at a specific Brazilian Zouk event but in any club environment thanks to the music genres it is danced to.
Cezar Santana
! get a little upset when people, especially Brazilians, bring up salsa dance instead Maxixe when they talk about a Brazilian dance. If you want to see very nice zouk videos go to Kuna Malik Hamad channel Zouk playlist.
The point of the two contrasting videos is to show some variation and difference. Demo 1 is much closer to what we are taught most of the time, the second has much more other elements and is danced to different music. But the basis of the moves and steps are still there from the Brazilian Zouk and Lambada Zouk origins.
It an awesome and cool way to combine dance elements and show how you can use a dance style to different types of music.
Sounds like Unreal Tournament music
Is this a routine they have memorized? Or do they make it up as they go?
This was impromptu, not memorized.
I don't give a shiz what the dance is called, I just thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Wonderful stuff!
Beautiful
美しい映像に感謝
What is the name of the song???!!!! Please i need this track!!!
If I lose myself-OneRepublic, I just used Shazam and found it that way. Great app to help you find songs! Enjoy!
What's the name of the song in the second demo?
Zouk is originally from Guadeloupe , that is not Zouk.
Is there anyway you can make this video able to be viewed from an Ipad and smartphone? I've been wanting to share it with my dance friends but it can only be viewed from a laptop or computer not a mobile device.
+Mark Ewins The song is If I Lose Myself from OneRepublic
what brand of jeans are those
Anyone knows the second song?
kirk dedes I think it's called "Evolution" by DJ Kakah.
It is a remix of a much older track though. I heard the base track used about 8-10 years ago on Burn the Floor.. Still don't know what it is called.
this is beautiful but it is not zouk. It looks more like a dance that derives from Salsa. Zouk is not dynamic as Salsa; Indeed, it is more of a static dance. The moves comes into play to take a break from the body to body dance.
I don't know why people always bring up Salsa when they see latin dance. Long before salsa people from US was dancing a Brazilian dance that they named Castle Maxixe. ZOUK comes from Lambada that comes from forbidden dances like Maxixe
It's Brazilian Zouk or Zouk lambada. They named it zouk after the music Zouk . Now they dance with different music style not just to Lambada or Zouk music anymore
It looks kind of like hustle and WCS to me. As I whined before, I'd like to see them use a different sort of music from dance to dance.
It originated from Lambada. You can look at videos like Dadinho & Aline Miami zouk and look for Wilian & Paloma. They all improvise to the different music style.
Thanks so much for pointing them out, they are ALL amazing, so talented. :-)
Its Brazilian Zouk(Lambazouk,Zouklambada,Neo Lambada, etc) I have a list of videos of Brazilian Zouk on my channel and the couples improvise to different music style even Rap
screeningmimi don't care about your opinion
Still waiting for the "zouk"...
TheBoMaAn971 still waiting for the famous "human being's inteligence". Couldn't find here..
These two need to take several seats and not call this Zouk
Their zouk is interesting, but for me there is too much of WCS in it... (btw in WCS they beat all away any other pair!)
+Sequsia WCS? what does that mean?
+Brando Miranda Maybe West Coast Swing?
+Sequsia I can see what you mean but I personally love the Zouk+WCS Fusion.
Ian Terada are these guys fusing those two dances? Interesting...
It seems to my like Zouk with a lot of WCS influence from the dancers backgrounds but its hard to say. Just my impression!
what an attractive, sexy pair. im jealous :O
Not sensual. Zouk is more sensual.
The clothing isn't very sensual so it's just distracting I think.
This is not zouk
Brazilian Zouk comes from Lambada, not salsa. These two look very West Coast-y in their zouk. Here is a video of a Brazilian Zouk/Zouk Lambada pair that really have that zouky look and flow ua-cam.com/video/TpgRpbI2Q8U/v-deo.html
Questa non è zouk. Tantomeno Kizomba
It's part of Brazilian style influenced by Lambada
It's Zouk (Brazilian Zouk) came from lambada. Has nothing to do with kzomba.
Looks kind of abusive to the woman
Is your comment founded upon misinformed radical militant feminism or is it harmless sarcasm? I'll politely assume it's sarcasm because only a victim of brainwashing could be so detached from reality as to seriously believe that dance was abusive in any form.
I said "kind of"
Its a little be like almost/nearly/on the verge of...
She is not "kind of" being abused. don't you see this?
AAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA ABUSIVE
WTF are they doing..... This isn't zouk and it's not even kizomba..... Thier just swinging over and over and the song doesn't go with the dance either, they don't move as a unit together this it's all over the place.. y'all was dancing salsa. Kizomba orgininated from Africa and zouk is from Haiti.... In the carribean.
Samantha Clodia you don't know what is any of this type of dances you are talking stop rejecting things!!! I mean what is the fucking point doing this!!! We cant dance anymore because you guys are always judging
ugh not zouk
Victoria Bruner ugh i shouldn't be here responding people like you
What is the name of the song ( demo1) pleas ?
This is not zouk dance
The name Zouk was used in the 90s to differentiate Lambada danced to Lambada music from Lambada danced to Zouk music. late on they started dancing to different music styles but kept the name Zouk to define the new Lambada. The group Kaoma introduced Zouk music to Lambada dancers. Today they dance improvised Zouk(Brazilian Zouk) to any music style
Sometimes people get lazy and forget to say they mean Brazilian Zouk. The naming is unfortunate, I must say, though I love the dance
