    Stumbled upon NALF during Covid. Got interested in his cultural view on Germany and Germans. I'll watch anything from NALF as soon as it pops up, no care at all about thumbnails and consistency 😅. No idea about football but would definitely watch longer than 30 secs. But I am from another millennium 😂. So so happy about your engagement to Laura. Congrats and all the best.

    I’m so happy for you that all your hard work and tenacity brings you success as in being recognised and being able to pursue what you live.
    I have watched your videos and really liked most of them. They are well researched, interesting and thought provoking.
    Congratulations on your engagement with Laura. She is the most delightful young woman. You seem so well suited in your outlook on life and both seem so grounded. All the happiness in the world to you two 😊

      Actually, it means "less departments", "less courses", more specialized in some subjects, not necessarily smaller classes.
      University stands for "universal", offering Math, Law and medicine on the same campus.

    • @mgdrive8409
      @mgdrive8409 5 днів тому +1

      @@holger_p less courses? ECTS to earn are the same but they are offering depending on the size of university you compare it to less.
      Generally, lower amount of students means lower amount of courses in that meaning like you meant it, I would imagine?

    • @holger_p
      @holger_p 5 днів тому

      @@mgdrive8409 as said, if you can study medcin, law and math, it's more likely a university, not a school.

    Nick, I've been consuming your content along with several other English speakers in Germany ever since I learned my daughter would be serving at an Air Force Base (not far from you). You've been funny, informative, and helpful; thank you!
    This is the first time I've noticed people in military uniform in any of your videos. When you are first starting filming in the stadium in Nürnberg, 2 men in camouflage uniforms (without covers/hats on, a no-no for the US military) cross briefly from left to right behind you (starting at 6:20). After freezing the frame I see they have German flag insignias on their right shoulder.
    You mention the large numbers of Americans in Germany, and it's estimated over 50,000 are American soldiers in 2024. Do you ever see American service men and women in your day-to-day, or as part of any USO effort to entertain the troops overseas at American football events where teams in the German leagues are playing?
    Side note: I've been studying German and love some of your videos in collaboration with "Easy German" and "Feli from Germany", to give me more sources to learn about the culture and language. I'm hoping soon to move to Germany, and work a remote writing job I'm currently in a trial period with, to be a bigger part of my daughter's life while she still wants me to be, and all your videos about overcoming doubts and taking a big leap have been helping to motivate me.
    Please keep up the good work, and I hope you continue to have success both professionally and personally. Congratulations to you and Laura on your engagement!

      that is one of the biggest tips for a decent powerpoint presentation! don't put too much stuff on each slide. a minute is a good guide. if you have more info, you need more time, or you need to cut cut cut. people need to listen to your voice, not squint to read the slide. Herr Professor, eine gute job. Your training in film production has led to interesting and fun videos of reasonable length. You when to begin and when to end. Europeans and Germans haven't always done presentations succinctly and effectively (at least as an American observer). They have improved thanks to adapting American techniques and mindsets. You can help a lot over there.

    • @alicemilne1444
      @alicemilne1444 5 днів тому

      Why would you want Europeans and Germans to adopt American techniques? Just to suit your tastes?
      As a European (Franco-Scot) and naturalised German, I find American videos often far too loud, with far too much intrusive background music (as in this one) and far too much skipping about.

    • @williamhitchcock6265
      @williamhitchcock6265 5 днів тому

      @@alicemilne1444 Yes, American videos and advertising are often annoying and often don't communicate. There is a way to communicate quickly and effectively, and it is fun and interesting. Care must be taken to do it right, and Nick knows how. My comments go back to communications that I encountered as far back as 60 years ago when I got lost in boredom from endless repetition in a single presentation. Yes, there were a few clever ones, but they were rare.

    A video from Nalf about making successful videos - I appreciated the thumbnail comparisons and hope you went on to say how stupid it is to dramatize the thumbnail with an exaggerated facial expression. I don't watch those anymore; if someone's face looks distorted by shock at whatever shocked them into making a video. I hope you can lead people into a realistic, not cartoon, facial expression.
    Also, Aldi has been selling footballs lately For 7E. Every time, I pick one up, align my fingers on the threads (? ) and then hope someone is within throwing distance who seems interested. So far this had not happened. Is no one gonna toss the ball back and forth with me? Actually at Intersport my husband was there an had never touched a football and I didn't give him a choice. We tossed it around until finally an employee stopped us by asking us what we might like to buy. *lol* I have no connection to football. It's just that it's a part of my childhood. It felt like home.
