I made this kit about 4 years ago, it's stunningly good. I had no issues building this kit whatsoever. The detail out of the box was extremely good. Full engine detail, hatches to put on or leave off showing the amazing detail. Ammo feeds, conduit, fuel tank access, best kit I ever made in 50 years modelling, superb.
@davidfenton4387 Yea...I tend to rush when I build, and i put mistakes early on that cause issues later. For a lot of kits that's fine...tiny mistakes dont add up like they do with Zoukei-Mura kits. I still like them though. They always finish great.
"Rome wasn't built in a day" as the saying goes, and when a model turns out looking this nice you can see why. Superb job Wes, congratulations on getting through this complex beast of a kit.👏👏👏
Used an iwata .4 on low pressure with generally a 50-50 paint-thinner mix. I bounced back and forth between Mr. Color and Tamiya but used Mr. Color Leveling thinner for both. I practiced for a few hours on blank sheets of plastic to get the mottling decent and eventually found a rhythm that worked and once I tapped into that it was easy. By the end I went back and redid the wing I started on but all-in-all it was more scary thinking about doing it than the actual work.
You guys at florymodels.websitetoolbox.com/ are the best cheerleaders any model maker would love to have around...and Clint I can't imagine how much time you spend picking everyone up w/comments. Much appreciated.
I think the word fiddly was created for this specific model...but thanks, weathering can cover up all sorts of mistakes. BTW Nigel...I don't know how you can manage all those builds and produce a UA-cam channel at the same time...hope you get out in the sunlight from time to time.
l always thought the He 219 a beautiful aircraft. Built one years ago, it may have been Revel , l don't remember. What a great job you did of the build....
Appreciate it...it was a frustrating model to build but as it came to the close I could finally see it all come together. Just took some time and patience and if it were not for the Zamarbide book on the same model...it would have never turned out this good.
Beautiful build....really looks the business! I’ve got the Tamiya 1/48 version....that’ll do me, as there’s way too much going on with the ZM kit for my liking (sad to say) 👍🏻👍🏻
It was a bit much...but like a lot of the ZM kits, if you can get to the end without putting it back up on the shelf you'll usually end up with a really good looking aircraft.
@@fuzzdad2 😂😂👍🏻👍🏻 I’ve got the ZM Shinden and Bf109 G14 in the stash....one has known fit issues with the nose cowling and the other is “the modellers dream”.....I’m thinking about the forthcoming Fw190.....😎
@@richardbaxter2057 same on the 190...so many possibilities. I did the G-14 BF109 and I'll put a short up about that...it was a PITA too, but taught me better airbrush control and allowed me the confidence to do the 219 mottle freehand. I tend to work on smaller models to teach myself techniques and then make larger 1/32 versions of similar aircraft.
It is slightly weathered but yes, it's very subtle and the camera doesn't pick it all up. I was in a hurry to finish it up in time for a contest so I didn't go heavy this time.
It comes with a serious weight box that goes right behind the cockpit and it will balance...but it's so light any wind or a touch will have it tail sit. It still needs a little more weight up front...especially if you detail the back fuselage area where the guns and small work station are (it has room in the back for a passenger). What you can do is put some lead shot in the nose. Thanks...the pattern is airbrushed in without stencils. I just took my time with it and used a buff coat afterwards to blend it all in.
Aüßerst Eindrucksvolles Modell Flugzeug, sehr Aufwendig und mit vielen Details, nur Schade das keine Version, als Höhennachtjäger mit den 4 Blatt Luftschrauben dabei ist.
Actually it's much, much better...the issue is ZM makes incredibly detailed models with 90% of the detail hidden behind doors and wing panels. If you are a mm off on building in one place it manifests itself somewhere else by a larger margin and eventually you get a large error. Tamiya, on the other hand, removes error by making sure the primary fuselage and wing assemblies are easy and simple and help align all the detailed parts...ZM makes you align all the detailed parts first and they help align the larger ones. I have a build log up on Flory Models that explains it in detail and I'm putting together my blog on it here (not finished):. www.fdmodels.net/
A wonderful model for a wonderful aircraft ... the latter statement at least in my opinion. Oddly enough, "Luftwaffe Jesus" Eric Brown didn't consider him either good looking or good at all.

Appreciate it! Certainly not for the feint of heart...of course I really didn't know that when I started.
An incredible build and fantastic subject. Stellar airbrush control.

Wonderful effort. The ZM kits are exhausting to build but well worth it. Thanks for the video.
Certainly has turned out well' a credit to your masterfulness and persistence, congratulations on a terrific model well done 👍👍👍....

I built the Tamiya version of this kit, and I have to say it is probably the nicest kit I have ever built.
Awesome result, Zoukei is known to put a lot of detail AND part in the kits. Great painting scheme as well. Looks like 2 months of fun 👍🎖
Super nice build!
Well, you pretty much knocked it outa the park... nice work!
Outstanding build and great video!

Very impressive! Great job
Shes beautiful!!!
Thanks! She's a PITA...but yea, real pretty when finished. She's also a real pain to move...way too many things sticking out.

You opted for no weathering/wear effects as far as I can tell. Looks like it just rolled off the factory floor. Beautiful build.

Is the ZM kit a tail sitter ? Do they provide a nose weight ? It's a beautiful build, complicated camo for sure !

Thank you for the information ! I'll be starting the kit soon, it's sat long enough ! Cheers.@@fuzzdad2

You went through a lot added a lot etc etc but no Swastikas! Why? Accuracy down the drain.
Not that it matters but they're on the rudders exactly where they should be.
