I am having this procedure in two weeks. The pain in my lower back and leg make it impossible to function normally. I am a retired OR nurse, and this explanation was great! I truly hope this alleviates my pain.

I’ve had multiple ESI’s over the last two years. Recently we changed to the transforaminal type to address the terrible groin and testicular pain associated with L2-3 and L3-4 disc collapse. My first one was 31 January and my second one is tomorrow, 10 May. So it lasted quite awhile. My spine center puts me completely asleep with Versed so I have zero pain and there’s really no injection site pain the next day. I don’t understand these doctors who do the injections using only local pain relief. The videos clearly show that there is pain involved which is ridiculous given that they can be done pain-free.

Thanks for showing this, I wanted to see how this was done. I just had 4 shots in my lumbar spine yesterday. You must be doing something better than my doctor because the pain was unbearable. He said that was because he was hitting the right places. I can understand that because I was in so much pain to begin with. I sure hope it works after all that.

Hi. Im getting my shot today. Did it help you with your pain?

@@usalbert I hope you had that shot already. Maybe it will help you. I know some do get great relief from them. I got no relief from the shots, in fact the pain became worse. I actually got 8 shots, if you count the lanacane. Maybe the pain that shot through me like lightening bolts was because he didn't give any time for the lanacaine to take effect, I don't know. I did the therapy for a couple months then had the pain shots, nothing helped, so on to the next, I'm scheduled for a fusion the end of this month, wishing it was tomorrow. I can hardly make it across my back yard, the pain gets so bad down my legs and into my feet. Wishing you the very best and would love to hear how the shots worked for you.

@@AllMyRescues dow, it i read your reply and i can del the pain, hang in there my friend you will be better soon. Remember when you got your mri the news could be much worse.
I got my shots and it was extremely uncomfortable. I felt immediate relief but it might be " anesthetic effect" that would probably wear off in a couple of hours.
The dr. Told me that it can take up to two week for full effects of the injections, I will know them and will tell you the outcome.
If the pain is relieved then I hope it last a year at least.
      Good luck to you.

Curious how the shot staves off surgery?

How long is the shot good for?

At best several weeks, at worst there’s a risk of permanent severe injury, even death. They’re not approved for epidural administration by the FDA or anywhere else on the entire planet due to low efficacy and numerous reports of severe medical events.
