I am a middle-class person and have no issue paying taxes. Much of our tax money supports welfare schemes for the poor and farmers. When I was poor, I benefited from affordable rations that met my family’s monthly needs. I worked hard, got an education, and moved up to the middle class. Now, in return for the income tax I pay, I still benefit from cheaper groceries and affordable labor, which would otherwise be much more expensive. However, I believe that high-income groups among farmers should also be taxed. It’s unfair that businessmen who earn substantial amounts and lead lavish lifestyles can avoid paying income tax. The justice system is rotten and Modi government should have reformed it. Government systems shouldn’t require bribes to function. Government employees should not have job security if they fail to do their jobs. Please address these issues, or there will be no difference between this administration and the previous Congress government.

First pay your Income tax, remaining savings that we used to invest again pay tax on it (Short Term capital gain raised from 15% to 20% and Long Term capital gain raised from 10% to 12.5%). I’m staying in a shared accommodation with 3 other people to save money. I use public transportation to avoid high prices foods and clothes so I can save more. However, the government deducts 20% directly from my monthly salary. This is unfair. We, the middle class, suffer a lot. I’m the sole earning member in a family of 6. How is this manageable?

I am struggling really hard working 12 hrs every day in private IT company, and end of the day I pay my 30% as direct tax and lot more as indirect tax. What I am getting poor infrastructure, poor quality roads , poor lifestyle. I am just looking opportunity to go somewhere outside India , where I will be paying the tax but at least I will get the good infrastructure and good quality roads and lifestyle

Fact is that these tax payers are an insignificant minority who are forced to contribute towards the nation building funds extorted from them by you politicians without any commitment from your side for the well-being or incentivisation of this class. What benefits are you passing on these tax payer community. What social security are you planning your provide to them? What efforts have you made to bring a bigger population under the tax net? There the political pressures come in play. Something similar to the anti- farm law agitation will have to be undertaken by the middle class to open your eyes to the woes of the salaried class for whom that is the only source of income unlike the politicians. You can easily provide relief to the tax payers but have no political will to do so. Please do not hide behind the nonsense guise of limitations to do so as mentioned in your interview. All that is humbug. I have always been a loyal BJP supporter and voter but I am sorry to say that I am thoroughly disappointed and disillussioned with the Modi government. Indexation is removed yet the tax rate on LTCG has reduced too it was 20% then and it is 12.5% now which i think will be beneficial than having the indexation (i am talking about LTCG on property)

I’m staying in a shared accommodation with 3 other people to save money. I use public transportation to avoid high prices foods and clothes so I can save more. However, the government deducts 20% directly from my monthly salary.
This is unfair. We, the middle class, suffer a lot. I’m the sole earning member in a family of 6. How is this manageable?
She has done very good homework for such question. Actually she also don't like such budget and tax burden to all taxpayers but she alone can't do it. We all tax payers has to speak up and ask for our rights. Otherwise they will make us fool as usual. It's not about ruling party or opposition party, it's all about politician perception on this matter. They don't want it. Since they don't have that much capability to take such steps.

I am struggling really hard working 12 hrs every day in private IT company, and end of the day I pay my 30% as direct tax and lot more as indirect tax. What I am getting poor infrastructure, poor quality roads , poor lifestyle. I am just looking opportunity to go somewhere outside India , where I will be paying the tax but at least I will get the good infrastructure and good quality roads and lifestyle

The discourse on the tax regime change and the overall GST benefits does not justify the increased burden you keep putting on the 2crore taxpayers. Fact is that these tax payers are an insignificant minority who are forced to contribute towards the nation building funds extorted from them by you politicians without any commitment from your side for the well-being or incentivisation of this class. What benefits are you passing on these tax payer community. What social security are you planning your provide to them?
What efforts have you made to bring a bigger population under the tax net? There the political pressures come in play. Something similar to the anti- farm law agitation will have to be undertaken by the middle class to open your eyes to the woes of the salaried class for whom that is the only source of income unlike the politicians.
You can easily provide relief to the tax payers but have no political will to do so. Please do not hide behind the nonsense guise of limitations to do so as mentioned in your interview.

Agree with everything you said. But as you mentioned, it's just 2cr people paying income tax. Hence, they can afford to agitate them as it won't affect their vote banks much. Unfortunately, we are as helpless as one can be. Neither can we afford to take leave from our jobs and protest, and neither survive and sustain with ever increasing taxes. Worst of all, we don't get anything in return, be it in education or health.
I empathise with you my friend. The govt understands we are more civilised and don’t come on streets for such matters. But rather wait for some relief in the next fiscal budget. That wait will be eternal. There are more direct beneficiaries of the schemes which they have provisioned than actual tax payers, from whom they compensate their electoral loss.This is the same scenario in every other developed and developing nation. So all we can do is move to a country where in you can find better quality of service and life for the taxes you pay.
