I'm so drawn to this song. Thank you for
hearing music I hadn't heard in almost 60 years.

The Human Expression with a really bittersweet song written by the legendary Mars Bonfire . He also offered them 'Born to be wild' but they refused ! Thx

👍👍Great lyrics, lead singer has good tone and clear voice. Interesting lead guitar break, really punches thru with that fat sound. The single note twangs are effective as a melancholic added touch but there is also some other instrumentation back in the mix (but more pronounced after the bridge) that really reinforces that hypnotic, gloomy feel...I think I hear some pedal steel...strings, flute and organ. A lot going on here, but blends so well as a whole composition.

    sweet child of nothingness,
    born into the street
the gift of life is all you get,
and that is not so sweet
the tenement will be your castle
    cut-rate clothes and cheap perfume
    will mark you and you'll
only get escape by runnin' in your sleep
    runnin' in your sleep
    sweet child of nothingness,
    how ya gonna ride?
you're looking up from way down under
    into indifferent eyes
the hand that reaches out to help
will not be there when it takes what it wants
and leaves you doubled up in pain, girl
    make it if you can
    make it if you can
    sweet child of nothingness
    you're lookin' good today
all the men turn and wonder
    what kinda games you play
try to catch a rich man's smile
go search for love, yeah, find some guy
to keep you in the most expensive cage,
and see if that's the end
    see if that's the end
    see if that's the end...
    (mars bonfire, 1967.)

I wonder if this bass player, Tom Hamilton,is the same Tom Hamilton, bass player of the early 70s group Aerosmith
He would've been about 16-17 years old
    ??????????
