It's a fairly common technique, even in games (i.e. your first games in Fortnite are full of bots but they never tell you that, so you finish top 10, 5 or winning and keep playing)
Social media doesnt know where to put you for your first engagement, so it throws you to the wind, you need return engagement across many "genres" to continue that type of spread. You need likes, comnents, shares to keep growing/spreading influence.
