I love this song and the way Condon uses his voice as an instrument :) it's like you don't even need to know the words, you can still hear what this song is about without understanding what he says
Damn, his arm is all.. vein-y. Great shot, thanks for sharing. I like seeing videos like this, I feel like he's more down to earth when you can record him on your phone up close, playing exclusively in front of a private, spontaneous audience. I wish I coulda been there.
I think if you changed the caption to something with "The Pentalty" in it this video would get a lot more views because this is honestly THE best version I've heard of this song and have watched it over and over again. It's the best I think because the crowd doesn't know any of the words since it came out before the CD was out, and gives us a chance to see Beirut in his solo style :)
His songs are great because they sound like they could have been written hundreds of years ago. And his voice is so uniquely lovely!

this is the best version!!
i do not understand how one person can be so perfect
To hear him sing and seeing all those smiling faces behind him. It is perfect!
voice like angels
Danke schön for uploading this
a vida é uma orquestra hora tens seus momentos de luz hora de escuridao mais devemos sempre vivela como uma grande musica com um final surpreendente
Isn't it strange, and telling, that something sounding so sad and full of melancholia should sound this beautiful.
So beautiful!
only his music always brings a smile on my face, no matter what :)

cada vez me enamoro más de él!!!....
so do I! this is one of my favourite songs to play
i get butterflies whenever he sings
such an amazing voice
It would have been nice if this had been posted at the same time the other craptastic ones I was so desperately trying to hear.
Magnificent.

I love you Zach Condon.
@ddangelocosta yea he was being awesome after the shoot and treating everyone who was there to some tunes...SOOOOO JEALOUS!
@ddangelocosta yes it is
aaaaaaaaa hermosa, eres un genio zach
:-) superb
@coftroy this was during the video shoot for "elephant gun"
@niktp Haha, I just checked Wikipedia. Turns out that some of the song's names were mixed-up in the cd that i downloaded. Sorry, my bad :)
notice alma har'el in the background filming :)
@niktp Haha, it's Ok. No need for apologies ;)
yer he uses his plectrum to drag down the strings which makes the slapping sound :) sounds weird but true. try it.
thats the exact reason for me to
This song ended up being titled "Knives and Forks (La Fete)". "The Penalty" is a different (yet, also great) song of The Flying Club Cup :)
@Fillipinoskater Haha, nice one!
fuck! it's identical the studio!
Me too :) And I love Zach's music enough to do a cover of Elephant Gun. It's on youtube if anyone wants to check it out.
@trombonehero2 It's called a Fluke. I want one too.
you are very lucky.
@meleschi And you totally played into a stereotype about american culture. Thanks for reinforcing your point. Also I love Beirut.
@ ddangelocosta
What's the elephant gun? :D
whoa...mustache

@PeludoImNot I didn't even know for sure, I just thought it sounded funny to say what I said. Sorry man, serious.
@Vaiseoquan i just had one... and i am a girl!
of course u will have to strum harder and more aggeressively to get the slap. its hard to explain but its real easy.
@Vaiseoquan quit a few bro quit a few
he looks like my boyfriend minus the stache.
Nice Song But it does not sound like Pxndxs Amnistia
