Thanks Dave. Yes Cowan creek is a large waterway in a national park just about an hour north from Sydney....we are lucky. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Paul , a good video and an intro to more boat designs. I like your boat because it is a honest design. It has the large cockpit that a sailor loves , yet provides a cuddy to escape the elements when anchored. Furthermore , while compact , it is sufficiently stable to provide a feelng of security. Cruising on a tender boat is not fun. Tender is ok for a quick thrill but does not cut it for safe comfortable cruising. Fair winds Paul
Another great trip away with you and the others, good sailing and company. Thanks for showing us around and we will be back down for another look. Cheers Phil and Brenda
The "cooking niche" or built in metal box to house the burner and kettle is brilliant. Somehow in all the camping and sailing videos that I've been watching no one has an actual "box" for the cooking rig. I've seen shields or metal wind blocks but never the box. So much more to share. Hobart every year is a winter treat for me. Here in New Hampshire. And occasionally I mention my other Aussie You Tube Super Stars: Of course SLV but also Richard Musgrave-Evans. Yea so... G'day, mate! ✨🌸💦🙏💦🌸✨
Love seeing your beautiful wood sailboat. As I get closer to retirement (I'm 60), I am looking for a sailboat project. Love your videos....thanks for sharing!
Thanks Raphael, we are blessed with some great bird life around the Hawkesbury, often see large sea eagles. If you sent me some photos can you send them again, cheers Paul
Thanks Dennis , yes my wife is slightly horrified with my cooking on board, but with no fridge you are a bit limited if you go away for a few days....always open to suggestions though. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Paul ! It’s interesting seeing the major Wx change from the first to second day. Seeing your second day n rain gear .. totally reminds me to get with it n acquire some rain 🌧 gear. We do seem to have plenty of the wet stuff in the Seattle n Puget Sound region being on the West Coast of U.S. Aaah yes ! Saw my Monty 17’ dinghy cruiser. Thsnkz Mate. Nick.
Oh you are lucky. Here winters tend to be dry and summers are wetter....depending on what the pacific ocean temps are doing (El Nino , La Nina)...some years we have extreme drought and bushfires, other years floods....but they are getting more extreme. Hoping to get out for a sail next week, but it's getting cold, cheers Paul
I saw 👀 my Monty 17’ sailboat Paul. Thankz ! I’m busy checking her over n refinishing the hatch b teak woods work. Looking forward to launching her soon.. just a few more updates. Loved 🥰 your vid. Fog n lite rain was pretty n magical. Cool sounding bird calling out “Wheeeet ! wheeet f every once in awhile during your coffee ☕️time Mate. Cheers 🥂 Nick
My pleasure Dale....our Autumn is normally dry, blue skies and a nice chill in the air....but cold at night. In fact my favourite time of the year. Thanks for watching again, cheers Paul
Lovely to see Kate Louise back in the water. The Sharpie 26 must be a handful to launch and recover! Looking forward to seeing you out on the water again soon.
Thanks Malcolm, yes the sharpie 26 must be a beast to launch, I was already in the water so unfortunately I didn't see Cookie launch. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Another great adventure. Unlike Peter to forego a sail. Good to see the weather forecasters remained consistent(they have been terrible of late!). Hope to see an adventure from southern Sydney soon? The Hacking? George’s river?
Thanks for another spectacular video. You take me away to a boater's paradise every time! If you were to start over what would you change about your boat? Would you have refrigeration, propulsion, a different length, heavier , lighter, faster, wider, a different sail setup? Thanks again and cheers!...............⛵⛵⛵
Well funny you should ask that James, as Derek is designing a 2ft longer Stornaway, with solar, electric Rim technology pod retractable outboard, more sail, more ballast +(water ballast). higher cabin and freeboard. Maybe one day I'll get one , cheers Paul
Good to meet you to Murray, very little wond today. I had frustrating 4 hr sail.I even put up the storm job as a daysail which I haven't done before. It added maybe knot. Yes I intend to be a bit more adventurous. When you get a chance send me an email with some info so I can suggest a Raid and pass it on. Cheers Paul...ps it's started raining.
My favourite phrase - `we are just rounding winki wonki point to stop for a spot of lunch` ;) I was wondering if a solid foam mattress would be better on your boat? it could still roll up to save space.
Sailing and improvised cheffing, your channel has it all. The Sharpies look big for river cruising, launch and recovery but small for blue water with the trailer restricting beam, were they awkward to get in the water?
Hi Glen well the 23 was a 2 man job and I didn't see the 26 launch, but being that long it would have been a challenge...I think it's 1 1/2 tons. Also to launch the 23 we had to reverse and stop suddenly, the boat would keep moving a foot or so. Libby did this 3 times eventually getting it to a point where it would roll off. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Hi, Sharpies here in the UK are flat bottomed sailing punts. Very very fast and raced seriously by enthusiasts. By the way greens are for rabbits. Great to have you back in proper boats. Enjoy. Capt John
Hi yes these Norfolk islands Sharpies have a flattish bottom with a big centre board and they sail at an angle using the hard chine as a keel...if you know what I mean...as for greens...Popeye wasn't a rabbit! cheers Paul
🤔, by chance do you know the bird I hear in the forest 🌳 that rainy foggy morning Dave. If not that’s okay. I’ve watched this vid once before n enjoyed both times. Nick.
Hi Nick, yes it's Paul not Dave but that's O.K. The bird was probably a Lyre Bird we get quiet a lot in the bush. They are very interesting as they mimic other bird calls. So you can listen to the whole range and for some reason they often include what sounds like a machine gun....I don't know where they learnt that from maybe a video game. They are large like a chicken and build mounds as nests....google them , cheers Paul

How to you run your bow anchor line? Do you have a roller or a fairlead ? Another fantastic time, I am taking note of the meal prep for future cruising. Take care.
Hi, I have 4 fairleads 2 on each side of the bow set about 1/2 a metre apart. As my Danforth is too big to put in the anchor locker, I store it in the stern locker, deploy from the cockpit and then walk the anchor line forwards to the samson post without having to move out of the cabin....as I can reach forward. My wife is still horrified with my cooking....but it's practical no fridge food. Thanks for watching again, cheers Paul
good to have you back on the water. question, do you have an all round white light for when you moor at night ? ps: stayed at the basin campground twice now, great faciltiy and don't mind paying the 35 bucks a night as its well maintained and provisioned. next time will look at camping on board my tinny, (sorry not a dinghy haha), have taken onboard lots of your food tips etc . ( sorry not the vegan options). happy sailing, Frank
Is a dinghy with a nice cabin still a dinghy? What identifies a dinghy, length/width, open, cabin, motored, rowed? Thank you for sharing your adventures, the boats and the sailors…from East Tennessee.
Well strictly speaking a dinghy is a small open boat that is a tender to a larger boat. But we don't get hung up too much on definitions. A cabin adds a bit more comfort and there is less setting up to sleep. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouiseSo, if I got a trailer sailer, maybe something like a, Catalina 22, it would be okay, small enough to sail often, small enough to maintain?
wow that is long. A Welsford whaler is 20 ft and that's big. Do a lot of research as often the structural integrity is carried through the cabin roof keeping the hull apart. Don't get the circular saw out until you've talked to a boat builder, cheers Paul

Great job again Paul and I do like the look of those Sharpies!
So fast, but very sensitive to weight as you move around in the cockpit or cabin, cheers Paul
Thanks for your video Paul 😊. We thoroughly enjoyed sailing in such good company!
