This song, like almost everything in the entire soundtrack, feels like it really quiets down on some of the better parts of the music. The violins, for example, feel way too quiet and reserved compared to their presence in the first FFTA and I miss that. Frankly if they'd given it that more grandiose feel with more present sounds that the original had, I'd love it. As is, I'm constantly frustrated that I can just barely hear what I know could be the best parts. Sigh.
@@Camox21 i actually found it years ago while looking for a download of the OST album still annoyed that SE never uploaded the OST for FFTA and FFTA2. you have to give it to them, they are VERY consistent in ignoring the fact that FFTA and FFTA2 exists, despite creating Vieras, Bangaas, and Nu Mou, despite using those on FFXIV.
This is my favorite song from the game, not sure why, it's just iconic

I know, right? And why is such a cheerful song called "Painful Battle"

in the first tactics advance, this is the song that plays when you fight your friends

The DS allowed for higher quality tunes to be played. Hearing the Orchestral version sounds like a march from a military tattoo.
I love both, though.
by orchestral, you mean the FFTA orchestral version? that one feels like a V1 since the FFTA2 version sounds more full and refined.

One of the best parts of A2 was getting the orchestrated versions of TA's music.
There IS an actual orchestral version of FFTA music btw. The album also has the GBA version.

I don't know why it's called painful though. It's the most delightful and upbeat battle song ever.
I know for FFTA(1) the main character fights a friend of his which made sense for the title of the OST, "Painful Battle".
So fantastic ~
actually now that i think about it, i haven't seen the FFTA ost's orchestral version in YT...thought there was a full set back then?

uploaded ds version of this games ost. take a listen my fellow nerds!
Why does this sound so familiar? Was this on FFT or FFXII?
It was on tactics advance. Not OG tactics or XII, though.
Because they have the same world
Because Sakimoto got lazy with the OST and just reused his old work

Where is the Remake or a New Titel
Buy Tactics Ogre Reborn. High sales = renewed interest in the SRPG genre = More remakes/new titles get greenlit.
