One method of using the sevage detail is to add a seam in a garment piece on the straight to grain. Put this seam on the selvage this could give a great vertical front of pant detail
Found your channel today, really love your videos and your style. But I wish you would show a picture of the pattern when you’re talking about it, because I would love to understand better what are you talking about without having to pause and googling it.
This was really fun and interesting! I think your sketches were just fine. The main thing is that it helps commit to enough design decisions to begin cutting. Many high-end designers’ sketches are very basic and crude. It’s just a starting point and the true design gets worked out through discussions, construction and try-ons.
You can get a personalized croquis from My Body Model which is really helpful for planning clothing. You can audition different styles and colours on your actual shape. It’s saves a lot of heartache and waste by not making garments you’ll never wear. Looking forward to seeing your new fall pieces 😀
Watching this while working on my own Claude sweater - what are the chances! Really enjoyed this video, has made me think very carefully about my own wardrobe :)
Great video, Cassie. I'm finishing a Trillium dress by Made By Rae in a beautiful yellow and white daisy cotton lawn. It may be my last summer make. For the fall I plan to make a Lyra dress from Tilly & the Buttons. I didn't like the pattern when I first make it, but I recently saw a few just above the knee makes I'm a structured poplin that I like very much. It's more of a shirt dress with a tie belt that way. I'm also planning the peppermint peplum top in a lovely blue linen. I may make the flounce on the sleeve, but keep it 3/4 length and then omit the actual peplum. I'm not sure yet. I also want to make an Adrienne blouse in a drapery knit like Lyocell. I need more bottoms and I need to think through those more, so I'm holding off on any other plans.
Love all of the fabrics! I would love to learn how to knit. I tried crocheting once and it was difficult when I made mistakes. It just takes practice I suppose!
I've been knitting for 10ish years on and off and I still make a ton of mistakes, but finding the right tension and ~flow is the biggest part and the rest is just expanding your skills!
Great video! I've sewn through most of my stash and would love to bring more cohesiveness into my wardrobe. I think I'll start out by choosing a colour palette aswell.
I have to admit I don't always pay close attention to what you're saying but I like listening to your voice bc it's so soothing haha!
I never thought I'd hear that my voice is soothing but thank you! I'm happy you're here regardless :)

Thanks for letting me know! I do try to do this in my videos but I will definitely aim for consistency going forward!

Ohh these sound like such cool plans. I love the Adrienne blouse - I haven’t made it yet but it’s so pretty in all the makes I’ve seen.

I love how you chose your color palette. That's a really cool idea.

Thanks Jacqueline! Let me know how the colour palette goes!

I’m a magpie. So my clothes are a mashup and nothing matches. There’s work to do.
