A Great Show my Friend, and to let you know, I was a Wizard Advisor shop in the 90's, and we most definately padded numbers to move books we were struggling with.
Another great video in the series 84 👍 thinking back there was a lot of repeat Titles on those top-10 lists for consecutive months at a time. ✌️cheers and stay safe..
Lovin' this series, 84. I left comics around Feb 96 and didn't come back until late 2000, so I've never seen these books. For me, let me repeat that, for me, I don't feel I missed much. ... A friend and I always wondered about those lists too. I never knew any of my shop owners well enough to ask if they were poled, but I wonder if any of them were. I think the Wizard staff just picked their favorites.
Nobody knew about that MIB comic back then until the movie was announced. The shop I went to never even ordered one. We were always suspicious of these lists as they didn’t seem to pan out at our shops. JLA was a good seller but not a “hot” comic like others were. I never remember that Alpha Flight being talked about... very suspicious. Good stuff buddy... can’t wait for the next installment.👊
Wasn't that JLA title DC's best selling title, off and on during Morrison's run? I think he also made Entertainment Weekly's most creative people list that year. He was also interviewed on AGR's Comic Con special that year, so he and that title were getting mainstream attention. I can see it not being a big collector book due to the relatively large (early 90s to late 90s were a big difference) print run, but it was a significant title during that time.

Concetto D'Amico - yeah man, JLA held #1 for like a year straight!
Great video man. Quickly becoming one of my favorite series. I love that you found a conspiracy angle in all of this.
Dee Runk Comics - follow the money 💰
