Thank you for saying that about people asking you to share their work it’s so weird, awkward, and annoying, not organic at all almost desperate forces me in a position to just tell them no ❤️
I'm late but I love this video. This is the artist etiquette.
Love your channel!! So helpful for newbies like me ☺️ there’s so much emphasis put on gaining the skills to do the job not as much emphasis on HOW TO GET the job 😂 so this is very helpful!
Thank you so much for watching! You're right, it's always so much easier to promote your work as an artist when you know what you're doing than if you go into it blind. Genuine artists are the greatest kind! We appreciate your support :) If you liked this video, feel free to check out this one about working for "exposure": ua-cam.com/video/k3WN4dBZn7U/v-deo.html - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
Your videos have been so helpful as far as social media growth. Thank you!
I'm so glad!
It is common courtesy to introduce yourself to someone you sincerely want to communicate with, especially when you want to collaborate with someone you feel is on your level of art.
"Anyone who appreciates your art matters"
Very informative everyone 👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you🙏🏾🙏🏾

Listened via podcast (so thanks Lauren/team) - except to to check out some nice hand drawings, John. There's a nice wavy activity to them, while still feeling like solid objects.
Wow, thanks for listening! We're glad you enjoyed it :) - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
I am a bit uneasy about you commenting the Inktober contreversy assuming it is plagiarism (I mean, it is never said, but the slide show side by side "Inktober logo" and "plagiarism"). I want to point out that i) A.Dunn made the accusation on Inktober's book extracts ii) no one can assess at this stage that this is indeed plagiarism (the Inktober book is not released yet) iii) J. Parker denied (basically that could also be a case of diffamation). In the meantime, the reputation of both artists has been tarnished. I wish you had made a comment saying this is a good exemple of contreversy but you clearly atirculated your reserved opinion.
Beside this, great discussion.
Actually I think it would be good to make a video on what is plageriasm in art, what is diffamation, what are copyrights for artists and what is a trademark. Reading all the comments on the Internet about the Inktober contreversy, I have the impression that most of the people are not informed about the basic legal aspects of those (since all terms have a specific definition and legal scope) and it would be good fundamentals to have for every artist starting in the USA.
You're right, the way the slide was presented didn't line up exactly with what we were saying. This specific case hasn't had an legal proceedings yet, so nothing has been determined at this point. If I could go back and revise our presentation, it would have been more accurate to say that Parker had been accused of plagiarism and that the resulting publicity had an impact on how he is now perceived by the public. Appreciate the feedback, and we'll try in the future to be more careful with our slides. -Prof Lieu
Yes, this is on our list, as we have gotten a lot of questions about where the line is for all of these topics. This is a video where we do provide examples of plagiarism (Jeff Koons' "string of puppies," which did result in a lawsuit that he lost) and compare it against doing an homage to an artist. ua-cam.com/video/46kF-mhY8wg/v-deo.html -Prof Lieu
