I think something more essential than most realize from the list is food (not plants) preservation and safekeeping. You can catch it but if you cant keep it it doesnt do you any good
That is correct and I completely agree, that is why I dealt with this subject as prt of Slide 9, 10 & 11 and it is the Essential part of Slide 14) Food Preservation & Safe Food Storage.
Very comprehensive. This'll take a while to digest. Going to have to watch this several times. A complex and integrated array of skills, learning and motivation. Super great job.
Thank you, it took a while to formulate and the biggest thing I noticed at Frostbite! 2023 when I presented it first was that the audience was taking pictures of the slides, so they wanted to study it, so this video was born
You deserve a lot more views than what you're getting. There are too many dreamers out there on You Tube and the Internet who fantasize survival, but who have not real skills to do so. Some have been lucky, and think it was skill. I wish more people see this video.
Really informative video--thank you. I have a couple of questions about ghee. Any concerns about it going rancid over weeks of summer temperatures? You mentioned ghee with minerals and salt. Do you make your own ghee or buy it? If you make it, any tips? If you buy it, do you find there's any particular brand that stands out? Thanks again!
You need to mix your own, I have never seen it premixed and ghee needs to be kept out of the Sun, so in summer with a cabinet or at least shade it can be kept open for up to 3 months and in a fridge for up to a year.
Rule on when you find yourself in a survival situation UA-cam will probably not be available to you and all those survival guides you downloaded onto your phone go poof when the battery dies. If you have not taken the time to understand these skills, and practice them intensely then it may be too late..
Sadly, someone who has zero survival skills but is open minded is often better than a close minded pseudo "survival expert." Some times people become conditioned by training and die with food in their rucks.
@@BruceZawalsky I didn't mean that as a negative comment on your video, or the perceptions I have formed from watching your videos (I actually like them). Just as a sad observation that I have from years of loving to spend excessive amounts of time in the woods of Alberta and the people I have encountered over the years.
@@turtlewolfpack6061 I completely understand and I agree, I did not consider this a negative comment on the video, just the present sad state of outdoor education
@@BruceZawalsky I really should knuckle under one of these days and attend an actual course with either you or Karamat. I know I can always learn new tricks!

Super Excellent video Bruce. I just completed the Complete Wilderness Survival Course. Positive experience. Stop and Survive!
I can totally recommend the Complete Survival Course at The Boreal Institute run by Bruce.
Great Video and Info Bruce!

People that think they can survive out of an Altoids tin should watch this. Reality sucks sometimes. Depends on the circumstances.

Great information 👍
Thanks
Great Video Bruce! Lets grab our fishing and upland game bird licenses and give it a go somewhere up the Red Deer River.
Excellent idea
Well done Sir
Thank you
Excellent presentation.
Thank you Rob
Sounds like we need another comprehensive new book to elaborate on all the topics you’ve mentioned in this excellent video!
Have to start thinking about a 2nd Edition
I think that book is fine, as it is. You spoke of more than enough additional topics in this video for a book of its own.

I find that nearly every wilderness area in northern Canada as no cell coverage, so I am used to my phone being a nice camera

Good training saves lives, poor training does indeed cause problems
