No character death has ever affected me as much as Carl's did Sunday night. His send off was beautifully done, but I am still bitter and upset that this happened in the first place when it shouldn't have. Carl deserved the world. The world didn't deserve Carl. This boy took his impending death with such grace, better than most adults, most people. This child, who died still so very young and whose only wish was for the world to be better for the children living in it so that they wouldn't have to grow up like he had. Carl's been my favorite since the very beginning. The father and son relationship between him and Rick is what got me into the show. It's the heart and soul of The Walking Dead. Without that, there is nothing left anymore. Without Carl, there is no hope. Rick, and The Walking Dead, will never recover from losing Carl.
And Scott Gimple can happily go fuck himself, because I will never, ever, be okay with Carl's death or his reasoning behind it. Carl was the future, end of story. I was a hysterical, sobbing mess watching this episode, from the opening montage of Carl trying to contentedly live his last few hours to the goodbyes between him, Judith, Rick and Michonne. I was crying for two days straight after, and I’m still mourning him. I have no plans to continue The Walking Dead on a regular basis, but I still intend to vid it and Carl a little bit more. I still love the show, but only for what it was, not this farce it’s become.
Also, I am aware that xHeather360 did an AMAZING Carl vid to this song a few years ago, and I absolutely love that video. I felt that this song is so very Carl, and wanted to do my own take on it, especially since I feel it fits his death episode and his character in general, most notably in later seasons.
