For the Apex predator theory, just try to imagine what kind of evolutionary pressure would adapt an organism to evolve at such an extreme rapid pace and to simply consume everything else. Whatever world they originated from must've been worse than any known Death World to have such a horrific lifeform naturally evolve through natural selection.

This is why i favour the Intelligent Designer theory for the Tyranids. And the only other entity we know of who has the proven means to accomplish this is the Old Ones. The question for me is what would be the Old Ones motive? A clean slate to start life again? Or maybe just permanent Universal Annihilation (at least of the physical/material universe, as the Tyranids are ‘designed” to only consume physical matter) leaving only immaterial existence; that which the Old Ones are said to originate from.

the beings he showed when talking about the old ones are not the old ones. those are the Slann, beings created by the old ones that still exist and are the only race left that still carry out the will of the old ones. but the Slann are few, they are the frog guys, they have skin priests who attend them and the seraphon race as their warrior cast. the Slann are very psychically powerful. the seraphon are born in mass hatchings, their traits are directly affected by the environment around them, those that are born among the stars are somewhat aetheric in nature, while those born on planets are very much solid physical beings. the Slann themselves have not had a birthing spawn from their spawning pools in millions of years i believe, there were 5 spawning events, maybe it was 7, for their cast, only a few are still living from the first spawning.

Everyone is missing a serious point of lore. The Silent King returns to our galaxy. Yes we can all see "it's said" he ran across them.
I don't see him returning for the current sized threat.
I believe the current White Dwarf gives the reason. A new vast Tyranid moon sized ship.
I can see him finding a fleet of billion's of these ship.
My view is that such ships holds a hive mind on board.
Let it sink in for a moment. We are being told a new ship has arrived, and we don't know it's purpose.
If however it is a hive mind ship.
The Silent King running across vast numbers make returning a solid reason.
The Silent King could have continued to a new galaxy. Then populated it from his dynasty.
No he probably flew through a couple of galaxies getting devoured.
Decided to turn around to save his people.
Turning to "locking them up" it will not work. Why the beacon built by Tiamat.
Now as far as beating them.
      1) Eldar an Tau become rapid strike forces using the webway portal's
      2) use imperial navy to push fleets to Ork world's.
      3) rebuild space Marines to pre-crusade size all primaries
      4) crush the idea of invention is heresy idea.
5)create better arms, armor for astra militarum.
Time is a must in this war. Every inch of space has to be fought for in every engagement.
That means going to the Necrons, and asking for their star killer to be used. Only on stars lost to a hive fleet. If it gets desperate enough.

The Necrons would absolutely dominate the Tyranids in a straight conflict. They could literally just virus bomb all life on multiple planets and retreat, the Tyranids would have to leave, hibernate, or starve.
The only way for the Tyranids to beat the Necrons, is Plot Armor from the authors. They'd literally have to just allow the Tyranids to start consuming the Living Metal of the Necrons in more efficient mthods.
It would make more sense if it had been the Necron Star Gods that created the original Tyranid as a way to clear other planets of life. Probably as a counter to the Orks and Eldar.
If the Tyranids were bio-weapons that are still running "CONSUMEALL.EXE" their actions would make a lot more sense. They ignore worlds with tons of resources, if there's no "Life" on the world.
The Tyranids would be better off feeding in unpopulated asteroid belts, and worlds with unsable environments. There's plenty of resources, but no defenders.
The Tyranids focus on "Life" even though there are easier resources elsewhere, this doesn't make sense...unless something is focused on "Life Eradication" and not just "Evolve"
Evolution would push the Tyranids to places with easier resources to take, preadators mostly stop hunting if they get easier food elsehwere. The Tyranids are acting like a Targeted Bio-Weapon that has had billions of years to Adapt and Overcome.

Here's the problem: what do the tyranids do with all of that biomass? When they win they recycle their own biomass as well, so there is very little waste. If they used the biomass, then they would multiply nearly infinitely. A single hive fleet would fill entire galaxies. If they did use the biomass immediately, no one would stand a chance after a couple of planets had fallen, yet that doesn't seem to be the case. Plot hole???
Just imagine how much mass there is on one planet, and the above makes sense.

I've always liked to believe that the Nyds are the final genetic creation of the Emperor of Mankind. He has always been a master genetic engineer and while the Astartes represent some of his excellent work, it is to be remembered that they are 10,000 years old and represent a time before the current needs of the Imperium. The Imperium now needs a broadsword the size of the galaxy to contend with its current extraordinary enemies. The Nyds are attracted to the Astronomicon because that's the beacon the Emperor set up to call them. They were told to consume all forms of life to completely consume all Xenos enemies and yes, even The Astartes and all human worlds, they are, after all, genetic accumulation devices. Once they arrive at Holy Mother Terra, the Emperor can reconstruct whatever he wants from the DNA roster they have produced.

Same for the astarties and thunder warriors. Plus the emperors was very humanity first so using tyranids wouldn’t accomplish his goals unless it was somehow to maybe calm the warp down from the mass death of galactic life.

It's probably due to GW plot armor, but you think the Imperium would use the life eater virus weapons to counter the Tyranids when a planet is lost. Have they? I know the virus is synthetic and was created during the dark age of technology, but from all the books, it seems it's not that rare they even use these on small scale too. It's not like they would be worried the Tyranids could develop a counter just due to the fact it attacks life at it's most fundamental micro level. The Tyranids would have to evolve into machines to counter it.

worship is entirely a different thing from corruption. someone could be corrupted by chaos even tho they actually believe in their heart of hearts that they are loyal to the emperor, and someone can worship the ruinous powers without ever being actually important or interesting enough to attract their attention at all.
khorne is empowered by killing, even if you don't understand what it is that you're doing. so a mindless tyranid killing a bunch of guardsmen to put them in a acid pool *still* feeds khorne regardless. that's not to say the hivemind might not have some sort of self-corrective to parts of itself that might become corrupted or insane or rebellious for some reason, but the fact that the individual creatures which get corrupted having no ability to worship or proselytize doesn't really offer any protection at all. apparently clippy the virtual assistant can be corrupted and possessed by daemons, so i don't think a dinosaur bug is getting off the hook.

I've seen it theorized that the tear in the warp is the _reopening_ of a wound the Necrons managed to close up with Blackstone tech after winning the War in Heaven. The wound could have originally created in a controlled fashion by the Old Ones so they could access the Warp in the first place, and it broke during the War in Heaven and tore open across the galaxy. Now the popping open of the Eye reopened the ancient wound. That would explain why the Milky Way is the only place with direct Warp access; the Old Ones made the access possible in the first place, and it was never really fixed, only patched, and now the patch is destroyed.

It would be fun & poetic if their galactic consumption was thwarted by them being inescapably drawn to biomass, leading them into eternal conflict with the orcs. All the other factions would have to do is routine "maintenance" of the conflict to make sure no side gains an upper hand.

I mean, Nurgles forces still have biomatter (outside of demons). And the Nids strip minerals.
From my understanding, necrons aren't worth fighting. Because while they may gain minerals from the planets (and even from the necrons) no biomass means they still lose out on the primary resource.
Same with demons. Tyranids may get a planet worth of resources, but they can't eat the warp stuff that demons are usually made of (though some like Vashtorr specifically use mortals to form themselves; would that still be usable biomass?).
But yeah, Necrons and never born are usually not worth fighting in that it’s not going to give them more biomass.

The shadow in the warp is the tyranid's natural presence in the warp. A chittering cacophony of animals communicating as one hive mind.
HOWEVER, The genestealer cults have humans worshipping the Great Devourer. So, the same way humans are creating a Tau god, they are creating a Tyranid god.
Whatever their origin story is, their character arc will likely see the Tyranids change into something else.

I think that the “shadow of the warp” is almost literal. Considering how often psykers seem to evolve, I find it hard to believe that a single other species in a different universe has gotten some warp presence. I think that how the warp was made there would be a naturally occurring counter to the warp. They destroy what allows the warp to exist and that’s why no other universe has a footprint in the warp

    • @shanerooney7288
      @shanerooney7288 9 місяців тому

I view the "No other galaxy has access to the warp" theory slightly differently.
I view "the warp" as an extension of the Milk Way Galaxy. So saying the warp isn't in other galaxies is like saying the Milky way isn't in other galaxies.
Other galaxies have their own stars, their own space empires, their own warp, and their own chaos gods. Their warp is as connected to our warp as their galaxy is connected to our galaxy.
Tyranids evolved alongside their own extra dimensional warp. But it's somewhat different, like going from freshwater to saltwater. So there's still that period of adaptation that's needed.

cutting off one tentacle(one fleet) from the tyranids, which on its own is a herculean task, from the central nodes, can make possession or control theory work better, so if u starve them in the immaterial where other chaos gods take hold of them, or imprison them in a aldari pathway can help in control theory after you cut them off from their nervous system.
Another thing the races need to do is study how the tyranids are controlling larger fleets, and how to disconnect each fleet from the central hive mind. as for the genetic disposition i believe they have a lot of control mechanics in them as well, control mechanics being the meta protocols that allow them to morph and change and protect their genetics from being altered except by a brood mother geneticist ship.
as for insanity with every psycher who tries connecting is due to how much mutilated souls are in the tyranids or simply because no souls exist to connect to. leaving them stuck in a hunger warp that tears theirs minds apart.

That means that to grow more orks, you would need to expend the existing resources the hive fleet already has, so they dont actually gain additional biomass from the orks

The problem with Nids carrying Orks around to feed off of is that matter can't be created or destroyed, even in 40k. Even orks need a source of matter and energy, and as the nids would travel they would have to feed the orks and would only ever be able to reclaim an equal amount of biomass at best. Also, the orks need light as an energy source that they absorb through their green skin, so the nids would have to tow a Dyson sphere around with them too.

5:05 you assume they leave behind seeds you can detect or moreover on planets they consumed or more to the point: they don’t necessarily plant before finishing this current harvest. Perhaps the assumption you even need to seed or could seed or the tyranids want to seed rather then wanting novel life to consume is another assumption.
Remember there’s a process of abiogenesis it’s not fully understood but requires certain conditions because basically it’s an accident of chemistry.
Furthermore Leaving bacterium or other microorganisms alive on a planet which once contained multicellular life doesn’t make sense either, they evolved together from common ancestors. Their attuned to an environment the tyranids didn’t just destroy but obliterated. The assumption these leftovers could even survive let alone evolve (especially in as little as 60 million years) into a thriving biosphere with intelligent life. Makes no sense.
If the nids harvest they have probably only done it once before tops or this is their first time.

My own theoryis that the Nids aren't linked to the Old Ones but rather the Caton. There was one Caton that was cast out of the Milky Way for drvowering other Caton so maybe it discovered a race with powerful adaptive capabilities, up lifted it like the Necrons and merged with it to become the great devowerer. It could be a symbiotic relationship where the nids get devower flesh while the Caton devowers the souls of those devowered.
I also thought it would be interesting if this theory is true that the reason they are headed for Sol isn't because they are after the astronaumicon on Earth, but rather they are after the dragon on Mars since it has been confirmed to be a Caton as well. Whether they want to free it or devower it both could be interesting.

The tombworlds offer so little biomass that any battle with the necrons, even if it resulted in a complete victory, would guarentee a net loss in biomass for the tyranids. The necrons are all mechanical and their weapons atomize their targets, also completely destroying biomass. So the tyranids would consume everything else and might just leave to go to the next galaxy because fighting the necrons would just be completely pointless, unless the hivemind develops some personal vendeta against the necrons

Using warp entities that don't provide any biomass but that can still kill Tyranids allows Chaos to defeat the Tyranids on individual planets, starving them of those resources. And you said that Chaos would lose power becasuse human worlds are being wiped out, but while the Tyranids are advancing on humanity there is actually an increase in terror because of the impending threat, so short-term Chaos increases in power, not decreases.
