In prison you have too much time on your hands and you'll eventually find a vice to keep you busy, for most parts this is how the number came into being. Also, anywhere humans from different denominations are thrown together they will eventually try to establish an order and a society. Amids all that chaos you will see a certain form of order, it might sound funny to someone who has never been to prison. It looks chaotic and dangerous at times, but believe me there is a packing order that's established. It's not always about the strongest or most violent, it's a mixture of a lot of elements. Most times you'll even get robbed without bloodshed. It's a very interesting dynamic at play. It's mostly about survival and keeping yourself busy on a daily basis. As a Sargeant Major in the 26 I had something to do on a daily basis, you had people scouting for new recruits, you had new fresh people 'voori hekke', you had court cases to attend to, disputes with other camps to settle. Daily meetings, a big gathering every Saturday as it was the 6th day of the week...you had to take inventory of how much money your camp had in the bank. With all these activities you had little time to sit around sulk about personal issues. Peculiar reasoning, but you'll understand when you are in that situation. Hopefully you don't find out. Prison is not good.
There's 3 yards in life.. Your own Back yard... Prison yard and Grave yard if you live your life wrong... Nothing to be proud of being part of the Number...Choose wisely how you want 2 live your life.. My choise is my back yard where I can spend time with my family....

This guys is very very Clever ,is a historian but did not got to School, he is a life coach and motivator ,Ithink someone need to support him and grow him.children and Youth can benefit alot from him he is very very clever.
Another thing...the number taught me how to manipulate, that's the biggest positive I took from there. I learned how to get what I want from people by being polite and respectful. Today I use those skills in interviews and in my daily live, I am the most disalarming person you'll find, but on the inside I might be ready to explode. It taught me how to control myself to get from you what I want. I've been employed for the passed 25 years after spending nearly 4 years in prison. I matriculated in prison and today I hold qualifications in health and safety, ironically I am a mining equipment operator. Remember the guy's Mpumalanga mine story? But the origin of the numbers story differs from prison to prison. The rankings will put some armies in African to shame, by that I mean the structure. 😅 Prison warders actually told me that they are taught about the number and it's origin when they attend college. Believe me, they understand zabela and the number dynamics. They just act dumb.
