0:20 Never heard that before. Yamaha refers to their system as YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System). It controls how long the exhaust port is open, just like any other power valve. What's the difference between a power valve and "exhaust valve"?
I apologize.. I probably should not of tried to give the impression I knew what I was talking about. That’s the problem with regurgitating information that I heard from someone and not reading information for myself. I stand corrected..
I would say you probably running to much oil to gas ratio. Or possibly you have a jetting issue causing your engine to run to rich. Witch is causing oil to build up in your exhaust valves.
Is there supposed to be oil behind the cover on the right side of the head? My bike was leeking alot of oil from here. I even had alot of oil in my exhaust when I pulled it off does anyone know what the problem is?
Edward Duran yes there should be oil behind the cover, but it should not be leaking out the cover. Sounds like you have a leaking gasket that needs to be replaced. If their is an excessive amount? you might be running to rich on your main jet. The engine is designed to lubricant all those moving parts of your exhaust valve with the oil you mix in to your gasoline. That’s why their is that vent tube on the left side of tour cylinder, to allow excess oil to escape.
This is probably the best power valve assembly video on UA-cam. Makes it really straightforward, much appreciated!

Yz250 and parkway drive. Could there be any better combination?
Put mine back together and notice the side cylinder piston don’t move at all when I turn the power valve is this normal ..
Hi Kyle, one question, can you tell me the diameter of the hole on the left side of the cylinder. Is it in tolerance with the main shaft?
Hi my yz250 leak a litlt oil and smoke a litle from the power valve tube vent it is normal?
