Hi, there is a 'ramp reduce system' in Adobe Audition, it is called "Dynamics Processing". You define which amplitude should be change how by adjusting a graph. So you can make a gait for low amplitudes while also add compression, hard limiting for the rest, all in one step.
Great video Sir! Just another helpful idea for good breathing through the nose and lungs, look into getting a salt inhaler. You can find them easily on Amazon for under $15. It’s a hand held ceramic item that kinda looks like a tall elf’s hat, that contains Himalayan sea salt. You inhale through the mouth and exhale through the nose. Salt air is a great homeopathic way to clear mucus caused by allergies and sickness in the sinuses and lungs. Ever been to the ocean and your head and lungs feel clearer, that’s why! Tip: my problem is with my sinuses. I shake the inhaler vigorously, then breathing through the nose first. Hold the other side closed. Repeat 4 or 5 times on each side. Makes my sinuses wide-open!
I have never heard of that, but it sounds great idea! I will order one right away. thanks for the tip. Peter
You can adjust the autogate settings so that it doesn't cut off every space between words; that gate will not cut in until a certain amount of time. This way 1/4 pauses between pauses will not be gated as hard. Just like the Reaper plugin
Super informative and clear thankyou!
Great video! I've been needing tips on breathing in the booth. Can't mention breathing without gates, so this is invaluable stuff.
Dear Peter, great piece of advice on VO technique as well as the tip on a very effective (and FREE!) plug-in
Thank you!
muy bueno saludos colega
One can also use RX 7 from IzoTope which has a dedicated "de-breath" filter which is also excellent. It also has other filters such as de-wind, de-rumble, voice over leveler etc.
The Mouth De-Click is excellent - removes all the little slapping and slurping noises your mouth makes. The de-noiser though I find introduces artifacts that Reaper's ReaFIR filter doesn't.
Peter, I love your videos! I am using a Mac and I believe the ReaPlugs are windows only...can you suggest a Mac noise gate to use with Audition, please? Thanks!
Hi Peter. I'm curious about the Reaper software. We tried to add the free version of Reaper to Audition as a plug-in but it didn't seem to allow it. Do we need to purchase the Reaper software before we can use it as a plug-in (as a trial)? Or are we doing something wrong?
Reaper is a DAW, just like Audition, not a plugin, but it comes with a ton of great free plugins. The one he used in the video is called Reagate.
Great, helpful content as usual, Peter.
Showing your age with that “Frank Sidebottom” reference! Our age, I should say 😅
Well I imagine you must have a reason, but why not the Noise Reduction filter?
That’s why most VO artists insist on getting the noise floor right at the source so a noise gate isn’t necessary. They don’t like to use them because it cuts off last consonants on sentences and words. A noise reduction filter is usually more desired if you do need some sort of noise reduction or eq to cut out high or low frequencies that might be affecting your audio.
no to AI
These are LOCAL nasal strips for LOCAL people, there's nothing for you here!
"Program a computer to do xy"?
You did not understand AI if you think that you have to program it. It is about learning and it will learn how to put "more pride" in the voice.
The programming part is only done to make a system that can learn by example.
