Such a nourishing soothing conversation . Common sense.........sophisticated common sense spoken by two men who clearly know what they are talking about and - actually care. Thank you.
It seems an age since I have found my self smiling in appreciation as I listen to one of these conversations John.....challenging days behind us with us and ahead, yet our concern and hope for our youth and their wellbeing is vibrant regardless. " Can I have some more please sir "?
How exciting!! I have taught in alternative education in Toronto and looked at Socratoc alternative education for my doctoral thesis at Cambridge UK, and am currently an elementary music educator in a disintegrating-while-expanding public system in Canada. How wonderful to see alternatives in action like this in our day and age. I look forward to checking out Dr Tooley's writing to find out more about these alternative education ideas!
Thank you gentlemen. Yes Prof Tooley, education and schooling are different issues. Unfortunately education is in decline, which allowed political correctness to flourish and created the boring conversations we hear on a daily basis with people getting offended if you don't put milk in your tea...😊 Cheers from Comox Valley
Professor Gad Saad draws a distinction between an 'academic', and an 'intellectual' or 'scholar'. This may be helpful in accounting for ideologues occupying positions in universities, who are really not well-read or well-educated. This is particularly true in the so-called 'Humanities' subjects. I also think this is a trend which is part of American Imperialism. Dr David Starkey may feel that "all bad ideas originate in France": personally, I think they spread from the United States of America.
@@abpgrace Satan does not exist! WE have the choice between imitating Jesus of Nazareth, or not imitating him. That is our only choice. But Jesus was a young Jew, and was fully human. He stood in the tradition of his people: so Satan would have been, perhaps, a part of his thought-world. However, it is his humanity which seems to embarrass the Church. I view it as a strength. Jesus could not even predict the Parousia correctly; and he certainly felt abandoned at Calvary. But the moral choices he made were stunning: if they hae been rmembered correctly (and I think the have!).
I grew up in 1960's Australia, similar time to John Anderson. I was taught that Mao was an evil dictator hated by all Chinese. So when I went to China in 2007 to meet a lady I later married, I was surprised to see pictures of Mao in the taxis. Instead of clinging to what I had been taught, I investigated further and revised my thinking. Surely that is the spirit by which we should live. As Prof Tooley said, invite the person (the opposing idea/facts) in and discuss. Closing your eyes and stamping you feet in a tantrum is childish. Young people are still growing up, but adults surely have that responsibility.
I'd love to see more low-cost private schools in Australia - many of my peers were let down by public schools and the difference in outcomes is clear. Poor socialization and state indoctrination should not be the primary experience of our young people's adolescence.
When the devil takes over the scientific organisation , political organisation, financial organisation, military organisation family organisation and judicial system . Each of these systems is in a state of continuous decline and a major collapse in the way.
Wonderful conversation. Thank you for having professor Tooley in your show, he's one of my heroes, the work he does is amazing.

Not having been a conservative, this amiable discussion on education - perhaps the fundamental anchor for society - has been, ahem, an education.

They spread from the devil, not a specific country +/or people group.
@@abpgrace Ann, do you not think that human beings are capable of evil, acting on their own? Must a 'third party' be invented to divert blame from us?
@@Mark_Dyer1 Yes, and humans are given free will to follow God or Satan. Sad truth is that people are deceived and don’t recognize this choice.
