The yeti is brilliant, I'm on the second one as company car and never got stuck ( driven off road a few times a week ). What I can say though, suspension and bushings aren't that sturdy.
I've a 140 DSG Yeti now on 150k miles, just had a new Gates timing belt and water pump kit fitted (done with much swearing and one or two grazed knuckles at work on a day off as my skills are steam trains and the track they run on, not cars, but the thing still runs which is a bonus...) and am considering the same tyres without lift and spacers, as yet. Do the spacers and lift kit stop the arch liner scrubbing shown in the first video or just offer more offroad flexibility while still scrubbing? It's my daily with 90% on road use but I'm finding more and more places to dabble here in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland... Good work and good videos! I grew up in West Yorks and would enjoy an offroad visit if I can spec the Yeti suitably over time. It'd be done tomorrow if it weren't for money...
The tyres we have I would say are too aggressive for 90% road use. Some all terrains would be much better suited. The tyres we have still scrub the wheel liners but with all terrains you should have a little more clearance. The spacers also depend on the wheel, width and offset. Alternatively a 205/70R15 set up is a slightly smaller diameter so shouldn't scrub.
@@DarksideDevelopments cheers. I've had Michelin latitute cross fitted on all corners today, 215/65/16 all terrain and as predicted there's about 1/4" clearance. Aside from slightly reduced MPG and not being able to go very far due to fuel cost, I'm happy. 👍
I love these off road videos. I also enjoy walking in the countryside and sometimes I cycle. Each of these activities give me different pleasures and some of them conflict. The way to get along is by having sympathy for the countryside and consideration for others. Maybe the dog walker should use footpaths in more remote areas if he doesn't want to encounter others. Well done to the Yeti. It looked like a fun trip 😃👍
literally, riding a mtb on footpaths is illegal, dangerous and moraly wrong. admitting to a offence on video while challenging you doing nothing illegal or WRONG. how do people like this get so far in life? :D :D
Interesting cycling on a footpath is not a criminal offence. It is a civil offence so it would be up to the landowner to decide whether they wanted to prosecute against it. This walker in the video is a hypocrite though admitting he makes the decision that he can ride a bike where he deems it suitable but people having fun in off roaders can't. We all want to have our fun and enjoyment of the countryside and we just need to respect each other, the environment we're in and be nice.
Have You raised the Suspension on the Yeti ?and if so dose it drive OK on the road? I can see You got bigger wheels, dose it make it too high gear for the Clutch? Bloody Awsome it can handle that 👌
Best not be driving your new rig in the left lane of those a-roads incase you detach any green shoots from overhanging trees. Morally wrong guys 😂 back to the Skoda tho it’s class!
Watching again after a couple of years - with my newer Yeti than mentioned previously (current one being a 170 TDI manual with gen 5 Haldex with Tuff Torque wheels and General Grabber all terrain tyres arriving later today)... Reet, here's me feeling slightly grimaced... This video captures legally driven enjoyment and the man appearing at the 12:45 timestamp is a wanker. Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATs) are legally traversable with a suitable motorised vehicle - the fact he sees it as his personal dog walking path means fuck all... "yes legally, you've the law on your side... but morally, you know you're wrong" - nope - morally you're doing wrong by not simply stepping out of the way with your dog but causing an obstruction to a legal vehicular byway the same as if you stood in the middle of an A road. If you feel so inclined then petition the county council to enact a TRO with a view to changing status to a restricted byway ie bridleway but you'll need more folk than just yourself to get it through. "You've scratched your cars, look I can see"... well that's for us to care about, not you and maybe we're not bothered because they are our property not yours, and the byway is public property legally traversable via mechanically propelled means thus not yours to police and if trees are being damaged it's because they're in the way of an authorised route that is not being correctly maintained. Just because the wife isn't putting out anymore aside from getting knotted by the dog that's no reason to erroneously attempt to chastise others. Having grown up in Brighouse I can say that the guy needs a good tanning. 🤣
I love when the underdog VW 4wd makes it. It's the same with our Tiguan. All the Patrols and Discoverys make fun of us... Untill they brake down while measuring dicks.. and then the small VW that "will never make it up the hill" passes them! I'm looking forward to install the shock extenders I ordered from DD overland division.

Your cars are so capable they make much less mess of the lanes than most, plus with the kids you always stay on the right side of safe.
