Tasmania Day 8 - Launceston Loop
A common statement in Tasmania - Today was one of our best riding days yet!
On a beautiful blue-sky morning we headed for Ben Lomond National Park and rode the exhilarating Jacob’s Ladder. The scenery is amazing as you navigate the steep switch-backs towards the top - it was a very worthwhile experience.
And getting there is another great experience because Blessington Rd is a great surfaced, undulating twisty road which was a real bonus.
From Upper Blessington, we diverted onto the Byroads gravel detour, Roses Tier Rd which started straight until it wound its way up to rejoin Gunns Rd. The ride continued after more gravel on a nice surfaced road to Mathinna where we detoured again onto another Byroads route - a much more challenging Tower Hill Rd which featured cliff-side riding, smooth riding, narely riding, steep riding, scenic riding - in fact this gravel road has it all - we rode it all the way down to Mangana Rd.
Another surprise started at Rossarden Rd, this was an excellent twisty ride which would rate as one of NSW best roads! This B42 continued as a magnificent ride most the way to Avoca, finishing with a few km of gravel.
We took the back roads to Evandale and had lunch at the Clarendon Arms Hotel to cap off a great day’s riding.
On our afternoon walk, we were disappointed to find that the standard Launceston’s Cataract Gorge Walk was closed so we ventured back for earlier refreshments.

It’s a must do!!! I was lucky enough to have a perfect day aswell, I found one of your sticks on 545 Corryong to Benambra rd . I throw that rd into my route after watching your vlog so I was chuffed to see it , so now your sticker gets a shout out in my vlog 😅

I totally agree - but have to distinguish between bitumen days, where our day 3 was the best day. That said I too loved this day...
