For a country hell bent on forcing women to have children, youd think they would make daycare more affordable.
I dont know why Chipotle is acting slow. I started eating Chipotle circa 2016. The bowls used to be like $11…in 2024 its closer to $20 (Im in Canada). But the portion has stayed the same. Why did they need online reviews to tell them this? Why are they acting slow? They’re definitely just going to add more rice lmao. Then in a few months/years theyll slowly up the price and then they’ll be able to say “but guyyyys we upped the portion size”.
Steak bowls are my favourite - start making them at home guys! Get your meat of choice, grill it up, buy some shredded cheese, make pico de gallo (diced tomato, cilantro, onions), chop lettuce, add corn. Buy the pinto or black beans. For the rice they just boil it then add chopped cilantro at the end with a bit of lime zest. Make your own mexican salsa or grab some from any grocery or latin store - not the chunky ones white restaurants serve with nachos lol but real salsa bc it makes all the difference. It tastes better than Chipotle and you can eat alllllll that you want 😂

My son is 3 and I pay $270 a week for childcare. It does hurt my pockets, but it’s worth the money. I saw a huge improvement in his academic and social skills once I enrolled him. Some people (not most) forget the importance of early childhood development and that it doesn’t start at kindergarten.
So worth it! My parents paid $110 a week 25 years ago and it was basically school + daycare and that head start 100% put me on an academic fast track all through k12 and ultimately to a top 10 college

Story: yesterday my 16 year old n her 4 friends wanted to have a picnic in the park by themselves. I took my 11 year old to the other side of the park so we could give them space but still see them. They were enjoying themselves when they man between 25-30 went and sat on the bench near their blanket n turned himself around so he could talk to them without anyone noticing. As I was walking by my daughter yelled out hey mom. He immediately turned around, looked at me. I sat at the bench nearby until they were ready to move. As soon as they moved he moved. I told my husband this is exactly how they get to your kids n u wonder where your kid met the person. He was so slick no one around noticed him.

$800 is actually cheap for a license provider compared to other prices. We were paying that 25 years ago in my city. But I know it’s still a relief❤❤

I swore I wouldn't pay high daycare. But, honey, after I literally stepped over a sleeping baby at the door as I walked into a low cost daycare...and NOBODY even blinked. I hightailed it back to the ones I thought were "overpriced." I'm just grateful I could because there are mothers who are paying for whatever they can get and worrying like crazy after they drop their kids off.

I grew up in military housing so someone’s parents were always watching us kids walk home. We had a password, and even if we knew the person we were NOT to open that door unless my mom told them the password to give to us. We’d turn off the crockpot and eat dinner when it was ready at the time she said to.

Listen I paid for daycare but as soon as my kids got older I was not paying all that money for an afterschool program. I bought a cheap phone, indoor & front door camera and told them to walk home. I get off at 5. 😁 Ladies do what you have to do.

A real flex!! If you have truly trusted, abled family that can provide care AND engagement to keep baby’s mind stimulated that’s best!! At least until the age of 2 or when they can form a sentence then maybe part time daycare 2-3 days half the day if the child doesn’t have cousins, siblings or play dates regularly. Even that isn’t necessary. People be so afraid of the child’s social skills but if they are engaged with family they’ll be just fine until they get to pre-k or kindergarten. This is coming from a mom and former pre-k teacher.

I remenber when a bowl from Chipotle was 2 meals. I'd order one for dinner and take the rest for lunch the next day. Now, I can finish the whole bowl in one sitting.
I started going to Qdoba. Not only is it two meals, but the guac is not an upcharge.

What a time to be child free 🗣️ With inflation, it just seems like having a child will keep you in a cycle of poverty. Okay that’s a lil dramatic but yall know what I mean. I’m from DC and just a few days ago a daycare in the hood was taking the babies for a stroll in the neighborhood (which I ALWAYS think is crazy) and they got caught in a drive by shooting. One 2 year old was shot 3 times. She’s expected to live but I can imagine the pain the mother is dealing with. Like that’s all you can afford for childcare and then this happens.

Please know that we take care of children and not the day thus we call it child care. Sometimes this lil difference in wording helps others to understand how important what child care workers do…. 💕

Happy Sunday ❤ baby I remember living in the PJ’s and having a key on a string and around my neck in the late 70’s, I had to be around 8 or 9. They called that key latch kids. But times are wayyy different now.

My granddaughter's daycare was $1K per week..we/parents of the dad, the parents of the mother, my son & his girlfriend rotated weeks paying for it. EVERY time it was my son & his girlfriend's turn to pay, they were fussing & fighting about it & she's their child. They said it would be $500 per week if she was potty trained..at 14 months old, we grandparents potty trained her within 1 month. 6-7 months of rotating paying for daycare was a financial nightmare! But these days we're not stay-at-home big mama, we're younger working grandparents.
The mother and father should be responsible for the childcare cost. My son is 20 yrs old and he knows any children he sires will be HIS financial responsible...not mine nor his father.

I’m a business operations manager and my cousin has a daycare. From time to time I help her with optimizing workflows and process documentation. One time she asked me to update her attendance and pick up policy and when I saw she charged a late fee for every 3 minutes parents are late picking up their kids I said baby I’m clearly in the wrong profession. Not only that you have to pay to “hold your spot” even if your kid isn’t there. So it’s pretty much guaranteed money whether you bring your kid 2 days or 5.
From an operational standpoint point of view I understand why but as a consumer that would drive me crazy.

Speaking of Chipotle...there was a shooting in Chipotle in Southfield Michigan ( a suburb 5 mins outside of Detroit.) about two months ago about the guacamole portions. The man shot the staff member for not giving him enough guac. People are not playing about their portions with Chipotle. I always get the chicken salad with just lettuce, cheese, cilantro, sour cream, salsa and guac so there is plenty of room for chicken 😊 When you add all that rice and beans and other items they will give less meat to make you pay double the meat. That's how they are making those extra dollars off the double meat.

Thank you for the Chipotle story, they kill ne when you want what you paid for when it comes to the protein. They are quick to want you charge you for extra, but not willing to give you what you should have as part of the regular serving.
Concerning Chipotle, it’s not just the meat they skimp on. I’m a vegetarian and my protein from there are the beans. They will literally shake beans off the spoon. I asked them for pinto and then black beans.
I remember back when Chipotle gave you FOUR tacos for $6.00. Over the years they have declined in portions and service. The ones closer to me are at Camp Creek (where that guy got shot at for not taking out the trash) and the other on Old Nat’l…when I tell you I cain’t be bothered! I make my own bowls at home.

I'm a solo mom (SMBC). I work nightshift. I also have to work 4-5 weekend night shifts a month. I pay for full time daycare for my two while also paying for a babysitter 3-4 nights a week. My aunt/uncle watch them on the Saturday nights I work - I pay them as well.
