Good lord this was one of the first console games I played. I can't even begin to imagine how many hours I spent in it. This game is the reason I prefer Jango to Boba.
Boba literally just appears like 3 minutes and flies off into Jabba's ship, then gets eaten. On the other hand, Jango kills a bunch of Jedi and fights it out with Obi Wan and Mace Windu. While also having the most eargasmic sound effects with his guns and ship. No contest
Bounty Hunter was one of my favorite games on GameCube. Was so much fun cruising around with a jet pack blasting people! This needs a remake/remaster so bad!
@@Arms2 I think maybe a Boba Fett game with anthem like jetpack would be better, because we have already Bounty Hunter, just don't trust EA with anything anthem related because......you know why
This is probably my favorite Star Wars game of all time. I have a sensory memory of my hand being sore from how quickly I was "twitching" my thumb to tap the shoot button.
I actually dressed up as Jango for Holloween as well. My dad had gotten the replica blasters, and even after Holloween I would dress up and play pretend around the house.
I loved this game. It was Star Wars mania in the early 00’s and it was awesome to be able to play as this awesome character we’d all just seen on the big screen. Great video!
Yes! I rented this game at Blockbuster so many times as a kid. I was never able to get very far so I just kept running around the same few levels over and over again, having my imaginative fun.. I picked it up on PS4 in 2020 and was just blown away with nostalgia. Actually managed to beat it too. Still a tough game! But yeah, there’s something about Bounty Hunter that feels so ahead of its time yet also archaic. Loved every second though. Good on Disney for keeping so many Star Wars games alive. Hope they can somehow do that with Marvel.
Man this was one of my favorites back in middle school! So many fun memories! "you still put up a good fight, Jango! But I don't have time for games." Iconic
With the news of the announced Star Wars games, I hope that we can get a bounty hunter game from Respawn or another creative developer. It would bring some much needed freshness to modern Star Wars games.
Indeed! Jedi Fallen Order imo is the best Star Wars entry since the Disney takeover. That game is the only one that actually feels like it takes place within the Star Wars Universe, and where it feels like Lucasarts was still at the helm of its creative process. None of the Disney movie entries have been able to capture that specific feel. And although Mandalorian had its moments, it was not as consistently good as Jedi Fallen Order.
@@azogdefiler25 Yes, Rogue One exists. And with that you've basically said it all. Like Mandalorian it had it's moments, but on it's own it is a pretty forgettable movie. A lot of people by far remember the scenes with Darth Vader the most. The other characters haven't made that much of a mark. Nobody talks about Jyn Erso, or Casian Andor.. that is because they are pretty one dimensional, and in the end not many people care. With Jedi Fallen Order it is different. Those characters were all well written with quite a lot of depth.
@charzakwinn1398 couldn't agree more about Rogue One. I feel like soo many people hold it up on a pedestal, and in reality, it's extremely mid, other than the obvious Vader scene, that is amazing. The Deathroopers are also great, but otherwise, it's as you said, forgettable and extremely cliche
i LOVED this game, i mean i sucked at it because i was a kid but man having a badass story for Jango was so cool. Thanks again Matty for the time you are putting in this channel its so good!
I bought this at launch and then read the reviews before playing. I got upset at wasting money but once i played it i had great fun. Sometimes reviews don't tell the whole story. It is definately a game where a little goes a long way,but that can be said of many games.
Oh man bounty hunter is one of favourite SW games of all time. I love Jango so I'm probably a bit biased lol. The game has obviously aged horribly in the graphic and gameplay department but at its core the story, characters, and the overall vibe of it is still amazing. I love how it's a natural sequel to the events in the open seasons comics and wraps it all up in a beautiful conclusion. Even the little things like showing how Jango met Zam Wessel and obtained Slave 1 is great. I feel like it's too outdated for a remaster so I'd love a full blown remake that retains its core elements. I buy a modern version if this game in a heartbeat!. Truly one of the greats of the golden age of Lucasarts.
It really deserves a remaster/remake. Like you say the story, characters and vibe are great. Hot take: It feels, to me, like the most cinematic/movie like Star Wars game I've played. From the music, atmosphere, cutscenes, it felt like it would make one hell of a movie/show. It's a great origin story for Jango and I think if more people could see it, Jango as a character would have a lot more respect, the way Boba does.
This is one of my most favourite games. I wish they would do another. I loved as well how you could flip around in a high fighting situation and blasting and because you flipped, it would deflect their shots as well. Brilliant levels and long as well and like you say exploring the planets as well.
The music was indeed amazing. The same composer went on to do the elder scrolls series. Captured the seedy techno noir feel of the game, unforgettable.
I rented this game when I was 11 after having a shitty day at school. I own it now on PS2 and replayed it deliberately the same week Season 2 of The Mandalorian came out.
Tons of SW games that were kinda forgotten but were actually good. Episode 3, Bounty Hunter, Republic Commando, Jedi Power Battles, Obi Wan... At least some of em got remastered and rereleased recently
My favorite Star Wars game, love it so much. Great video. I also dressed up as Jango Fett and had one of the stunt doubles of Jango Fett come to my birthday dressed up.
Didn't even know this game existed. Hopefully, we got tons of Star Wars games focusing on multiple characters and settings. Loved that the game allowed the player to experience the edge of Jango. Something that I wish more games had for their characters and their worlds. Attitude. I hope we get games like this. Really cool video.
I remember when PREY 2 was first announced and it looked like a space bounty hunter game. It's all I ever wanted after playing this game. And then they turned it into something else. Still good but dammit I want my Bounty Hunter sequel!
Such an awesome underrated game, a hidden gem. It's Jango's back story, not only very interesting, but after completing it I ended respecting him much more more than Boba, everything he goes through and does. Jango Fett was absolute badas*. Also this game serves (kind of) as a prequel to Episode 2.
This was a really fun game (though the button mashing could be a bit much). I played through it recently and was quite impressed with it, particularly the bounty system, which I haven't really seen being used in other games. If you have time, I'd recommend trying the Star Wars Episode 1 game adaptation. It isn't a great game by any means, but I felt like I noticed that many of its mechanics, design, and gameplay choices lay the groundwork for the KOTOR games which came out a few years later. Knowing you're a fan of those games, you might enjoy noticing those similarities in an older Star Wars game (even if KOTOR does everything far better). While we're on Star Wars games, you should play the Dark Forces games if you haven't already (particularly Dark Forces II, which is my favourite) as they're some of the best older shooter games and totally worth a shot. Enjoying the Retro Reviews immensely. Great work so far and here's to many more.
Such a badass game, great video! The show was only decent and I still feel like the Fetts have been done dirty throughout the sagas so I’d love to see a full remaster like we just got with Metroid Prime and I’d be elated if that lead to sequels starring Boba Fett or even Din Djarin!! Thanks for digging this one up, I’m definitely feeling a replay!!!
Was absolutely obsessed with this game and Mandalorians in general, especially after playing Kotor. I loved the comic book unlocks. I loved the freedom, but I also hated the open nature at the same time because it was difficult to know where to go sometimes (no map or hint). I replayed a level recently and got stuck, had to look up a guide 🤣
Some of my ps2 games don't have manuals, because I brought them from cex, all my original xbox games have manuals, because I brought them from ebay, lol.
I wanted this game like no other back when it first came out, I remember seeing advertisements for it in Star Wars Insider. I finally got it in 2018 on PS4, sad to say the controls really turned me off. I love the concept, but I just couldn't jive with the way it handled. Maybe someday I'll give it another try.
I still have my original copy from back in the day and for a long time been thinking about replaying it, yet I've been holding off in the hopes it gets rereleased on the Switch. I suspect I'm gonna have to dust off that Game Cube.
Speaking of Boba Fett Matty, have you ever played Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi on PS1? You can play as him on there as well. Think Star Wars Mortal Kombat. It was one of the first two PS games I ever bought for PS. The other was FF7. lol
