Great. When I was 12, my buddy and I built a tiny log cabin (3 or 4 feet high) in the woods near town. More fun than a New York apartment.

Suggestions:
1. Space blankets (atleast 2) for those cold days.
2. Heavy grade plastic sheet (as wide as your shelter..for turning into a super shelter)
3. 2 hot water bottles (for keeping the body warm when you go to bed..and for keeping some water..body warm next to you..for the morning coffee/tea.
4. The kindling box should have some tarp in-between the wall and box also put some tobacco dried stems in the box.. keeps the bugs and ticks away.
5. place another box behind the shelter..for larger dry..wood..
6. hang all your tools in your shelter (if its a safe place to keep e'm..no one else visit the place).
7. place a broad piece of wood (just like your shelter wall wood.. for your shin.. when you're sitting on the ground.

You know, I think one of the top things on my “ before I kick the bucket list” is to go to your neck of the woods, camp with you and have you make some of that delicious coffee and have a big old sip. Lol

Build a wall on the front the width of the shelter and cover it with metal roofing. Put hinges on the top, so it can close like a garage door. That way, when you return, you can prop it up like a porch roof to cook under, and close it when you leave.

Tom, there are many shelters along the Appalachian Trail (AT) that have built in floors, some even have lofts. I would not stay, i.e. sleep overnight, in any of them. They look dark, dingy, cold and certainly uninviting unless there's a lightening storm. Most of them are infested and abused. Graffiti, either drawn or carved, is an eyesore and ruinous to say the least. Your Cimbrer Camp is amazing with character plus! The engineering and your personal sweat into this project makes it so uniquely YOU. It's incredible you did this with basic tools. I can envision a wood burning stove, your lanterns here and there and that tree...who else would have thunk?! Most of us would be satisfied with a nail in the wall to hang stuff. I watche d the video where you hung semi-clear plastic on the front making it a super shelter and it is a shame that clear plastic was not available. To sit in it and look out over your domain would be awesome. All I can say is...Go Vikings! (Not the Minnesota ones, now :)

Can I just say what i love about this camp? As a man that comes from a frontiers man family in the states. These shelters remind me of my boyhood and leaning how to build shacks and shanties, as well a look into my own family history of when they found a place to settle they made homes. Nothimg like oir modren day homes, but homes just the same. And it makes me wonder if a new survival challenge to live out of these places for x number of days wont be issued? It would be kimd of cool form a frontier perspective. And a scouts perspective. To push the endurance envlope. And maybe pack the things a frontiers man would take oit with them on long stents with food supply. But that is the nostalgia your base camp you built here brings out.

If you replace the front tarp with a thick clear plastic sheet (like used in restaurants or coffee places) you get a super shelter for winter (as a secondary way to heat..)
That’s exactly what I’m going to do 👍🏻😉 the only problem is I can’t find it anywhere 🤔 … not in the size I have to have
And that’s the last thing I need before I can make an overnighter there … still looking 😳. Thanks for your suggestion and help 🔥🏕🦌

A good overhaul of the hut and the shelter you made it Tom !!! Me would such a wooden mug to drink coffee and tea !!! The good stove have you and on front membrane can be transparent film !!!
