    Thank you for uploading this design to colt3d. I messed up and started printing this in LW-PLA. Now I'm going to order some PLA+ so I can print and build this. I cant wait. This model is so awesome looking. And I already got a set of retracts that'll be perfect for this!

      So sorry for not responding sooner. This can be printed in LW-PLA to. Stabs and wings should be PLA+ thou. Just cover it with 18g/sqrm fiberglass and it will be super strong and lightweight.
      Do you got a link for the retracts? I have been looking all over for a set that might fit this model.

    Very very cool design, seems like you’re losing a lot of efficiency on that fan perhaps due to intake obstructions? I know EDFs and jets in general require huge power to get rolling in the ground but for the power it sounds like it’s making it should be reacting a bit better. The flow just doesn’t sound clean but this is an educated guess from uncertain footage, either way it’s a brilliant design.

    Is there any changes to the printer settings If I go with LW-PLA over PLA+? I am finding a lot of spots where I can push through with my fingers using PLA+. With LW I can sand and coat with resin instead of fiberglass. I can not do that with PLA+. I'm sure it's a setting issue but I'm at a loss to rectify it. I could even double my wall count with LW and almost not be over on weight.

    • @Sindrg1
      @Sindrg1  4 місяці тому +1

      My last two versions have been mostly LW-PLA-HT print, combined with 18g/sqrm fiberglass. I love that combo but adds a ton of work to the model build. I have tried 2 walls LW-PLA but that was with ESun LW-pla, which I didn't manage to print right. I will revisit that later, now that I have the LW-PLA-HT tuned in ok. Maybe even add just a thin coat of resin on it.
      If you go down the 2 wall road, then you need to adjust the upper and lower 5mm of the fuselage parts, to only print with one wall. Else you will have issues with inserting them into each other.
      The single wall LW-PLA-HT is really fragile until you have added the fiberglass, but after that, wow. It is amazing.
      Just ask if there is anything I can help you out with. You can try to follow this thread for more info: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4000951-F-16-80mm-EDF/page19

    • @snowhack8903
      @snowhack8903 4 місяці тому

      I've never done fiber glass before, so I'd be in uncharted waters with trying that. Wouldn't fiberglass add a ton of weight? I did see a technique using resin over sanded LW-PLA, which I plan to try. I use eSun filament exclusively. I find it either hides my lack of printer skill or is a superior product. I can have 2 completely different results with no settings change if I use another brand, it seems.

    • @Sindrg1

      Hi. On version 2, there are a few differencies compared to the build video. On several of the fuselage bodies, you will have to remove 5mm of the air intake duct to make it fit. This is because I wanted the engine to draw air out from fuselage to have some airflow around all the electronics. The outer parts should slide into eachother as in the build video. You could print a calibration cube and meassure that you actally print with 0,42mm +-0,05mm. Then you can adjust your flowrate accordingly.
      I can try to make a updated build video with version 2 but that will take some time.

      There are plenty that can 3d print for you. I have printed out 2 for some friends and 1 for my office. Just search facebook or similar for 3d printing and your local town/county/country and ask. Where do you live? My experience is that it might cost more than it is worth vs buying a foam kit when others have to 3d print for you. I think I’m more excited to build this than the RC-Jetprint F35B. Will Hitech HS-70 MG servos work with this I have like 20 on hand and would rather use em instead of getting new ones.

    • @Sindrg1
      @Sindrg1  Рік тому +2

      Why not build both :D The F35B looks awesome :D
      The HS-70 MG is taller than the regular 9g servos but not as wide as the 22g from Corona, which means that they are in the middle of the two versions that I designed for.
      The HS-70 MG will fit into the fuselage slots on the 9g versions of the parts, if you remove the bottom of the servo slot. The screw holes look from the drawings to be equal to the 9-grams. They will not fit the nose gear steering slot, as this is too shallow for them. it might work but I can't guarantee it.
      On the wings, I think you might have to go for the 22g servo setup. If this does not fit, let me know and I can make an adapter.

      Hi my friend.
      I can, if you really want, print one and send it to you but I would not recommend going that way. The cost of having me print for you and then ship all of it in a large box, will be too much. I can’t guarantee that the parts will survive shipping, as I have no box and packing that protects the parts enough. I also don't recommend going for 3d printed planes if you can not print spare parts yourself or through a friend. ‘
      Ask around and see if there is anyone that can print for you. If all else fails, send me an email to Sindregjertsen@gmail.com and we can see what we can do.
