Had this problem fixed by the garage when I bought the car. It has worked loose and the repair looked like it was done with chewing gum as the adhesive. I am going to give this a go. Clearly explained, thanks.
I found this very useful - gave me the confidence to dismantle mine to fix it. I'm astounded by the poor build quality of the support lugs on the trim though. All of mine had snapped off and, with a bit of superglue to relocate them where they should've been, I was then able to reinforce properly with a quick-set epoxy Araldite. Start to finish I guess it took me 1.5hrs to do - that's including stopping for dinner while the resin fully cured! All back on now and looking and feeling better - so thanks for posting this up!
Just did this work on my 2007 C4 using cable ties and everything - this piece of trim has never been so solid! Closing the boot is now a pleasure and I’m not afraid it’s about to all fall off.
I've got the same problem on my 2008 C4GP. The cable ties are a good idea so this should be a no-cost fix for me. The repair will be featured on my own channel in due course. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for this, the trim on my daughter-in-law's 61 reg Gran Picasso C4 came off and I've been concerned that even if it is replaced the same thing can happen again....I have experience of less than robust plastic trim design.
I just run a clear silicone line on top and bottom of it, held it with silver tape overnight until cured and done. I have to add some silicone about once a year because it looses a bit but it's 5 minutes job and almost unnoticeable. Don't play with those plastic clips, they'll come off sooner or later and it will always be giving that clang sound when closing the boot. Run silicone it's more solid than superglue on thin plastic and much quieter :) The only downside is that number plate light is less accessible but still possible to replace bulb. Thanks for video and good luck.
Wow. I will really need to get into this. My Citroen dealer wants £430 for rear handle and the inner plastic brace that fell to pieces. Clearly a design fault, so they should give these out for free
I found something in my shed that i could get a cable tie through. I dont know where you can buy from. You just need something you can use a cable tie with
7mllc 23/05/19 I've just recently purchased a second hand C4 and have notice the moulding is loose. Had a look at your video and think I will give it a go. The only thing im unsure about is how will I know what to glue to the moulding?
WOW! Super useful. Just broke my intern screw holds this week. The outter mould fell off but is still in one piece. I'll try to fix it. If not able do you know where this piece is sold?

Glad it helped. They are terrible aren’t they. As i say in the video it is because i was having to keep slamming shut because of the lock, but still

Brilliant! Picked up one of these today as a little project for about 800 quid, this is one of the issues. Going to have a look tomorrow 😁

you may be able to use the existing ones if they are not too badly broken. Failing that-anything you can some string or cable tie through
Thankyou again, for taking the time to reply, much appreciated and will give it a go soon,

Marco Vasco you’re welcome! I think you would need to go to a citroen parts dealer, or maybe ebay might have some?
