Honestly Portugal was really impressive. They've grown a lot over the past couple years, and they did a lot better than anyone could have expected from them, even against a South African Squad that had a ton of debutants and new players, they were nothing short of amazing. Seriously great play from Portugal in the match
Portugal really played like champs. Boks my boks played 20min with 13 players on the pitch. Am nr13 covered 2 positions 12 and 13. Am is back in the driver seat watch out Jessie Am is coming for his jersey. With so much depth in South Africa we are really spoiled for choice. Championship cup start Saturday August 10th SA vs Aus. Bokke bring back a 2-0 W please
You have to keep in mind, this Springbok team was like a B-team...with only 13 players on the field for a portion of the game (because of the cards). But Portugal plays beautiful rugby.
That was like a Springboks B side only a few of the A side player's were playing , this is Rassie trying new players out , lots of work still to do for them but they played well.
@7:52, its not easy to score from there, esp for a team like Portugal (no disrespect, i love them) against probably the best defensive team (the jury is out, as the Boks have been sloppy amd lost JNB on defense) . Scoring from the need patience and what rugby players call "not having white line fever". The other team knoes what youre trying to do, its not secret. Suck in defenders until theres an opening. Not easy
U see that trail for no23 that's how you beat someone from his game nice 1🤞so impressive and challenging big up Portugal I'm from South Africa 🇿🇦 but y'all shows the best u can be🎉
I see some Argentina style rugby in Portugal, they have potential Also guys remember this was a complete mis-match, if a team is close to the try line in a closer game its not a sure thing, if you watch for example south-africa vs new-zealand you might see some teams close to the try line but often not scoring ( you might have to watch some full matches instead of highlighs to see these situations)
Portugal play some nice attacking rugby. Cant wait to see how they develop. Pity about spain and Germany fielding players that were not eligible. Rugby needs more Nations
Just saying it's not absolutely a sure try once you get within 5 meters of the try line. I think you're just used to seeing tries happening there but not the rest of the 80 minutes where they couldn't get over. And also Portugal's defense isn't that good But there's a lot of times where you can stop tries 5 meters out. You just saw the first try was off a turnover all the way on the other side. Happens plenty of times. Especially in the low try scoring Northern Hemisphere where they will go for the kick at goal instead.
The Springboks have so much depth in its squad it's insane😁I have been a bok fan for over 35 years because I am a West coast boy.

Portugal is just not in the same league but they impressed with their speed and precision.....and guts. They will be back.....

Remember we had a lot of young ones in this game. Testing them. New players. So they did well

With a red card, Go Bokke.
You guys should come and watch some rugby games here in South Africa! I'll be your tour guide , free of charge🤓
Glad to see the yanks enjoy SA rugby ; )
I miss the loud moookiies
Honestly only the top 5 teams give the Boks a tough game…any other team gets punished
