Campaign 3 is the first one I’ve watched live and it has honestly made me so attached to Bell’s Hells. I love them all so much and this coming from a Vox Machina addict. Hard not to love any of these characters tbh
For me my top 3 is Fjord, Beau, And Celeb out of everything I know all in campaign 2, but just like you it's my favorite and in my opinion the only one that's 10/10
It's still not fair that just because she's a monk, Beau ranks low among the Mighty Nein. But that's just me because she definitely shines amongst the group, and it's NOT because she's a monk but because of everything else, and if one does not take class into account I feel like she'd definitely rank higher.
Also, it's funny that Vax is so low because he's too "edgy"... and yet Percy ranks higher, and if anything he's far more of an edgelord XD As for how VM COULD have just kept trying to save him... it would have amounted to nothing because Vax would not have gone against his goddess. He gave his life to ensure his family would live on, and in time the rest of them accepted it, and he had a much more meaningful send-off in the wedding one-shot where Scanlan used his Wish for the last time to allow him to be there.
@@ZodiacBandit also, Patia I feel definitely shined because she ended up being selfless. She passed on her knowledge to ensure it didn't get lost. She went against Avalir in the end, and chose to pass a light to the future. Hell, a popular theory (that I myself love) is that her sphere that was sent to Cerrit's daughter Maya would one day become the foundation of the Cobalt Soul.
@@ZodiacBandit I don't really care if the monk class is bad, because where she truly shined was her role playing and the boons she gave to lore discovery. And her subclass, ironically, was all about that. That said, we can agree to disagree, but still... in my mind she's far higher just based on characterization alone. And she did overcome her traumatic past by bringing her abusers to justice. Hell, that whole revelation about her kidnapping was a love letter from Matt to Marisha, especially given Marisha's own traumatic experiences in the past. But, again, agree to disagree, and let's leave it at that 😉
The Darrington Brigade are my favorite Crritical Role party. They'd make up 6 of my top 10. I don't care that we don't know more about them, I didn't need to, they were fun in only 1 session.
Nice video, but your a crazy person for trying to do that. You are just asking for us other crazies to appear 😉. A couple of things struck me. The Vex/Percy relationship, while not intended before Vax/Keyleth opened the door, did have a better foundation than the doomed duo I feel. Percy inventing different arrows for Vex, and no inventions for anyone else, clearly a mating dance. 😊. But seriously, outside of Vax, Percy was the member of the party Vex had the least superficial interactions with. A defence of Beau as a monk. Totally not criticising you for not liking monks. However Marisha showcased and got the most out of the class. For a large bulk of the first half of the campaign, Beau was the front liner. It was Fjord dipping into Paladin and Yasha's fulltime return that freed her up from front lining, allowing her to become the hit and run battlefield controller for the second half of the campaign. I also think it's telling that in the Vox Machina v Mighty Nein one shot, Beau matched and then won the one on one with Vax, a flying Assassin/Paladin with a Vestige, magic returning daggers, and boots of haste.
Thanks I want more crazies and Listen my hate for monks makes it hard for me to like the characters I don’t think they fit a d&d game and seeing them in games makes me hurt Matt had to make a sub class for the character for her to stand with the others and beaus stats are monstrous and she still lacks in a lot of way because monks just suck As far as the 1v1 with vax I think that just shows the mild power creep the new dnd stuff had and 1v1 is the only place monks shine so it was mildly unfair for vax to be alone and not be able to have sneak attack like newer rogues get I like beaus character and story but the class doesn’t fit with swords and magic to me idk
I must admit I have some issues with the Monk as well, but mine are different from yours I think. But may overlap. I have made tongue in cheek snarky comments in the past that Gygax must have been watching Kung Fu when writing those early versions I just don't see any version dealing with what I see is the core issues with the class. Prepare for a ranty mind dump. It either shouldn't be called Monk, or else only some of the subclasses should be the eastern style ki wielding martial artist. Many religions have monks. The western Christian tradition have many types, and historically, even martial types, Knights of St John, the Knights Templar etc. Those latter ones, essentially Paladins. Monks are religious communities built around a common oath or set of rules. Again that describes Paladins. Can you imagine a class that would include current Monks, Paladins and other less fighting types. I can't see it in any version of D&D. But it is what it should be. Or we have a specific class for Mixed Martial Arts. In theory they should be subclasses of fighter, but that would be subclass bloat right there. So you could just rename the current class. Treat them as a fighter class, give them a D10 for hit dice. Break the connection to the Shaolin Monks we currently have, although allow monk community eastern style subclasses. Seriously, how many monks are played as a part of a religious community, And how many are played as a wandering adventurer picking up their skills on the job. Essentially the mechanics for Monk don't match the aesthetic. I don't have an issue with a martial artist, ki empowered or not, being present in a D&D setting. Lets face it Mediaeval China and Japan developed a lot of these martial arts while at the same time having swordsmen, archers, cavalry etc. Ancient Egypt had it's martial artist tradition while also developing the chariot.
@@lakakoi2965 yea this video is getting updated with a apology to Beau lol once this campaign ends I’ll be redoing this including the downfall characters and Braius so there’s definitely some more to say now
Fjord is my favorite critical roll character. There is just something about him that I just loved to watch and see what would happen next with him.
The best character
Laudna, Cad, and Fjord being in the top 3 is definitely something I approve of.
Would love to see a ranking of CR guest characters too!
Its coming in due time

Honestly felt vax was way more edgy Percy’s edge goes in and out a lot more then vax’s imo
And beau being a monk takes me out of it the class is so bad it ruins a fun time she should’ve been a rogue
