Hell yeah man! “IDZ” is an absolute classic, and a very powerful song. I am always taken away by how professional and composed Babymetal were at Sonisphere. Their first time infront of ~50K+ western metalhead crowd who for the vast majority, had new clue who they were. And BTW, Iron Maiden was the headliner that day.
Absolutely stole the crowd and left them chanting “We want more!!” All that at 15/16 years old.
Of course, shout out to the amazing Kami Band as well.
    🤘🦊

Great reaction! The positivity in everything BABYMETAL do is indeed outstanding. Especially after watching them jump around and smile like at the end of this video, it‘s impossible to have a bad day.
It doesn‘t get much further back than this. As Grington300 has already said, the first single was „Doki Doki morning“. Both the official music video and the early live performances are interesting and very much worth watching.

Great reaction - and on the pronunciation, just call it IDZ we will all know exactly which song you mean. This was at Sonisphere Festival (Knebworth House, near Stevenage just north of London) in 2014. Su-metal was 16, Yuimetal and Moametal just had their 15th birthdays (Moa's was the day before).
Ijime, Dame, Zettai translates as Bullying, No More, For Ever or Absolutely. It is an anti-bullying song so in the choreo Yui and Moa are fighting and bullying each other - until Su steps between them and threatens to kick them both in the head if they don't stop.
This was their very first time in the UK and their first major event outside of Japan - they were virtually unknown in the west before this. They had originally been booked to play a small side stage, but the video for 'Gimme Chocolate' had gone viral and they were attracting attention, so with just a couple of months notice they were moved to play on the main stage.
BABYMETAL were aware of the possibility/threats of things being thrown. Some small minded idiots who had seen 30 seconds of the 'Gimme Chocolate' video and (mistakenly) made up their minds BABYMETAL must be some sort of money making gimmick band weren't happy that they were playing at Sonisphere, they were even more upset to hear they would be on the main stage and they posted threats on social media of bottles being thrown and booing them off stage (it has happened before with different artists - I think I read Meatloaf(?) was booed and bottled off there), but the vast majority of the people there didn't have a clue who they were.
From back stage the girls couldn't see the crowd and were more worried nobody had come to see them and what they should do if there was nobody there - they walked on stage to see a sea of puzzled faces - over 50,000 hairy, tattooed metalheads (the typical UK crowd) wondering why three little Japanese girls in red tutus were on stage at one of the biggest metal festivals.
I believe Su has said that as they walked on and saw all the puzzled faces she thought to herself "This will be fun. Let's knock it out of the park."
They played 5 songs and the crowd were puzzled at first but as the show went on they got more and more involved so by the time they played IDZ (the last of their 5 songs) most of the crowd were enjoying the show and joining in ... I don't know if you heard at the end as they walked off stage the crowd were calling "We want more!" and "One more song!"
They have spoken in interviews (even recently) about how they consider this one of their biggest milestones and it being the moment they felt accepted by the metal community and really began to believe their music could break the language and other barriers.
Su-metal has described how the sea of puzzled faces they saw as they walked on stage changed to smiles as their set went on and how it went from just the front few rows jumping and joining in and looked like a wave running back through the crowd from front to back as more and more people followed suit.
If you want to go back even further their very first song was 'Doki Doki Morning'. They recorded that in October 2010, the official video was made on a shoestring budget just under a year later. You thought they looked young at Sonisphere - in this video they were 13 and just turned 12.

As others have probably already told you, the Sonisphere performance is iconic in that it was the moment in which they truly conquered the UK. They were thrust in front of a UK festival audience, and if you know anything about them it can be brutal if they decide they don't like you. But like a movie script almost they went out there, gave every bit of their heart and soul and absolutely dominated the crowd. It was a bit like Rocky in a way lol. You can see at the end Su is scanning the crowd as a Queen surveying her newly conquered domain.

Good reaction. This concert is probably BabyMetal's biggest western milestone. Let's do a little history.
BabyMetal had managed to carve out a niche for itself in the Asian metal scene. Their Kawaii Metal proposal had worked, but no one knew for sure if something like this would work outside of Asia.
Due to the success of "Gimme Chocolate" on UA-cam, the producers of English Sonisphere decided to invite the band to play at their festival. Initially they were invited to do it on one of the secondary stages (approximately 5,000 people), but because all the concerts they screened in Europe were selling out, they decided to take them to the main stage, with the risks that this entailed.
What were these risks? The Sonisphere is considered one of the most demanding festivals and the metalheads who come are famous for dissing in a very bad manner those groups that they consider do not measure up, going so far as to throw bottles of urine at them.
KobaMetal was not very convinced of taking this step, since there was the possibility that the Western public, much more orthodox than the Asian one, would not understand their proposal and that the girls would come out badly. Finally they decided to take the step and appeared at the festival.
SuMetal commented that before jumping on stage they were afraid for two things:
The first was that they did not accept their music (they were approximately 16 and 14 years old on this date, they were very young girls).
The second they jumped on the stage and it was empty.
History tells us that between 55,000 and 60,000 metalheads gathered there, of which only 5% had heard of them. The result is that at the end of his performance, as you have seen, the audience asked for more.

This performance was an object lesson in how 3 very young and virtually unknown girls , through sheer talent and personality , turned what was , to put it mildly , a VERY sceptical crowd of about 50k metalheads , most of whom had never heard of them , into believers in the space of 5 songs - when you see this it's easy to see how they have become global superstars in the space of just 10 years - AND THEY THOROUGHLY DESERVE IT !!!

BABYMETAL have had some world class drummers.
    Sonisphere had Hideki Aoyama.
His father and younger brother were also drummers. It's kind of in his blood.
He's in high demand as a supporting drummer for groups like B'z.
That was Anthony Barone at PIA Arena.
Besides BABYMETAL, he's also known for All That Remains, Beneath The Massacre, Angel Vivaldi, Shadow Of Intent and A Night In Texas.

Nice reactions. Sorry to hear you got bullied. I hope this song has some healing power for you. The first one definitely a festival. One of the most important festival appearances they have ever made. And you can see how pumped-up Su was at the end of the song too. The next one skips a few years, and we get the new member on board. Once again Babymetal brings the energy and the promise to always be there. A lot of fans have talked about how Babymetal have gotten them through some very dark times in their lives. They bring so much hope and joy. All in a very entertaining manor.

    Great double reaction, thanks!
"Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (pronounced as "ee-jee-meh, dah-meh, zeh-tah-ee") means "Bullying, no , absolutely" or "No more bullying forever" as they officially translated.
It's obviously an anti-bullying song and their actual second song, according to the live performances, since they premiered it live in July 2011.
They released it way later, in January 2013 probably because it's basically a straight power metal song and they had zero intention on getting pigeonholed in one genre.
The Sonisphere 2014 performance is probably the most important moment in their career, being their first big stage outside Japan and performing in front of one of the most potentially hostile audiences.
The result is crystal clear: walking off the stage while the crowd was chanting for more can be considered an epic win.
They also sold more merch than any other band that weekend (including Iron Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax, Dream Theater, Slayer...).
Some call this "the Sonisphere miracle" but it's not. It's all about taking what you do seriously and blending genres and different styles with respect.
The members are very aware of all this and even Su-metal has mentioned this performance in interviews as a moment of realization, so to speak.
The PIA Arena performance was impressive. It was used as an alternative show closer since they had played "Road of Resistance" previously in the set.
Unfortunately, they rarely perform it live today. I traveled 400 miles each way just for the possibility that they did. It was totally worth it. 😁

That was a fine reaction. You really felt the song and spotted all the important details. This is one of their big early songs, but contrary to Megitsune, Headbanger, Road of Resistance or Gimme Chocolate it is no longer performed regularly. You have to make room for newer stuff, I guess. But we do get it now and then as a special treat, f.ex at the last concert of their 2023 North American tour or here at Momo's birthday concert. If they played their usual show stopper Road of Resistance and then DON'T do their "Weee aare ..." routine (that is what really closes a Babymetal show), then this song will probably follow. It used to be their default last song before RoR took that position.
They did have a number of songs in their early days that adressed issues any teenager and especially girls could relate to: Bullying, wanting chocolate but worrying about weight (Gimme Chocolate), how to be a woman in Japanese society (Megitsune) or realizing that your childhood is ending in earnest (Headbanger).
The juxtaposition of these to concerts was perfect. Early Babymetal had a kind of anarchic energy to it. Over the years this was exchanged for perfection and elegance. Since Momo with her big smile joined as a full bandmember, joy has returned to the stage, creating the best Babymetal we've ever had.

Great reaction, the Sonisphere performance is still brought up as one of their most memorable concerts as it was their first major western metal festival playing to people who weren't all there for them. If you like comparing 2 performances maybe check out Akatsuki (unfinished) live at Legend 1997(happened in 2013 97 is Su's birth year) and then any one of the finished versions of Akatsuki.

Nice reaction, I like the "multiple reaction to the same song" format! IDZ at Sonisphere 2014 was such a breakthrough performance... fantastic, indeed! They were smol back then, and they still are 😉 On stage these girls are titans tho. You´ll witness that yourself the time you´ll see them personally (I did in 2023, just a dozen feet away from them). Yes, at least one Circle Pit is mandatory if they perform IDZ. Most of the time there´s more than one 😁

Actually, they were originally scheduled on a secondary stage but subsequently moved to the main stage SEVERAL WEEKS before the day of the concert. They knew even before arriving in the UK. It remains an amazing feat for the girls, regardless, but the "last minute" myth (which I initially believed as well, because someone had posted it in the comments) needs to die.
edit, as my replies are getting deleted: On May 13, 2014, 7 weeks before the concert, Babymetal_Japan tweeted an announcement that they had been moved to the Apollo (main) stage. It's still there now, if you want to see it.

If you want a wonderful metal song about bullying, try 'Endurant' by Bloodywood. The.videonis extremely powerful, the music is incredible. Bloodywood are a top tier band, from India. The song has sub titles as a lot of the lyrics are in Hindi. If the name is familiar, it's because they just realised a collab with Babymetal, 'Bekhauf' which is amazeballs 😎. Be warned, I cried watching Endurant, it hits deep 🙂
