I'll write in English This is one of the best/favorite music/songs in my listening repertoar For me it represents the "Ændekraft" or loss of self somehow... The fight for the better good What is there to fight for? We are all going to loose But we can loose in the fight Not loosing our honour But kæmpe for our rights And Take It Whatever it might be. I believe that Kim and his friends fought for the best o mankind. Not a Dane But Almost Frihed ❤
Yes, performed by Kim Larsen, but, Anders Vian, it is definetely not Kim Larsen who made this song famous. The original tittle er "Til Ungdommen", but faced by WW2 the now known tittle was added. It was written by Nordahl Grieg in 1936. It is in many ways serving as a second national hymn in Norway. And has been in constant use in Denmark since the beginning of World War II. It is one of the few songs you can expect any Norwegian and most Danes to know and to be able to join in singing. Nordahl Grieg followed the government during the fight against the German occupation force all the way from Oslo on April 9th 1940 and till the day they had to board the British ships and go into exile to continue the fight from London. On the 17th of May, the Norwegian constitution and national day, 1940 Grieg wrote the equally famous poem, "I dag står flaggstangen naken", "Today the flag pole is standing naked", while joining the fight against Germany and fascism. The stounch pacifist Nordahl Grieg was shot down when on a bombing plane over Berlin in 1943. And a stone in Potsdam is placed to memorize him, when this stone was first placed "Kringsatt af fiender" was of course performed. The song was written in 1936 as an optimistic hymn to strengthen the fight against nazism and fascism. It is strongly influenced by the schism between the strong belief in pacifist principles and the understanding of the need to stand up for humanity and democracy. The song, which could be said to be atheistic to the core, but it is included in the national Norwegian psalm book (even though it caused protests from more religious opponents) and is also included in the official national Danish Song Book "Højskolesangbogen" used by all schools and public institutions. It is actually difficult to translate this song into English. The tone and the depth and sincerety somehow get lost. The Danish and Norwegian languages are so close that the same version is in use by both countries, the difference between the original Norwegian text and the Danish translation is minor and in Denmark it does'nt matter if the text is in Norwegian or Danish. Perhaps one day somebody will be able to write a better translation, being able to transfer the real spirit of this song. The hymn is used in the original version in Norway and Denmark and it is also translated into Italian, English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Swedish, Icelandic, Dutch, Frisone and other languages. TO THE YOUTH [FACED BY YOUR ENEMIES] Faced by your enemies On every hand Battle is menacing, Now make your stand Fearful your question, Defenceless, open What shall I fight with? Where is my weapon? Here is your battle plan, Here is your shield Faith in this life of ours, The common weal For all our children’s sake, Save it, defend it, Pay any price you must, They shall not end it Neat stacks of cannon shells, Row upon row Death to the life you love, All that you know War is contempt for life, Peace is creation Death’s march is halted By determination We all deserve the world, Harvest and seed Hunger and poverty Are born of greed Don’t turn your face away From needs of others Reach out a helping hand To all your brothers Here is our solemn vow, From land to land We will protect our world From tyrants’ hand Defend the beautiful, Gentle and innocent Like any mother would Care for her infant.
Grieg's poem was set to music in 1952 by the Danish composer Otto Mortensen. The song has since been included in Højskolesangbogen, the Danish "Folk High School songbook". 682A is a reference to its placement in it.
This song is a real banger! I’m introducing it to all my fellow Canadians!

I keep playing this over and over

as its a Nordahl poem, but and dane made music to it
Great!

TO THE YOUTH
[FACED BY YOUR ENEMIES]
Faced by your enemies
On every hand
Battle is menacing,
Now make your stand
Fearful your question,
Defenceless, open
What shall I fight with?
Where is my weapon?
Here is your battle plan,
Here is your shield
Faith in this life of ours,
The common weal
For all our children’s sake,
Save it, defend it,
Pay any price you must,
They shall not end it
Neat stacks of cannon shells,
Row upon row
Death to the life you love,
All that you know
War is contempt for life,
Peace is creation
Death’s march is halted
By determination
We all deserve the world,
Harvest and seed
Hunger and poverty
Are born of greed
Don’t turn your face away
From needs of others
Reach out a helping hand
To all your brothers
Here is our solemn vow,
From land to land
We will protect our world
From tyrants’ hand
Defend the beautiful,
Gentle and innocent
Like any mother would
Care for her infant.
Vakkert!

How is the title "682A" related to this poem of Nordahl Grieg?
Grieg's poem was set to music in 1952 by the Danish composer Otto Mortensen.
The song has since been included in Højskolesangbogen, the Danish "Folk High School songbook".
682A is a reference to its placement in it.
