Hazelnut tree 6yrs from seed | Repot & Root prune Pre-Bonsai

Hi everyone, today I’m going to repot and root prune my hazelnut tree, grown from seed I started 6yrs ago now. I’ve not pruned the root system before, only pruned the top of the tree to keep it small.
I’m going to pot it into one of homemade concrete pots and I think it’ll look quite nice.

Really nice - in the autumn i wanted to grew some walnuts from seeds and couldn't find any trees near my area. I dig out 2 hornbeam trees from wild today approximately 3/4 years old.

Question for ya...will the tap root grow back after being cut away?
I love hearing the sounds of y'alls birds...it reminds me of when I was growing up and we had ducks, chickens, and turkeys.😃

Thanks Valorie I’ll keep going for now then, the tap root can grow back but it shouldn’t, you normally get some roots that are really vigorous but just keep them pruned every couple of years.
