Glad it's a stunt. Glad you are safe. :) I've seen a rollover accident in person where the Mazda rolled at least six times, maybe more, before landing upright in a ditch. It was awful. Thank heaven for seatbelts though. They were ok, considering.
The original "cannonroll" was a lot more aggressive. A 2 foot long hollowed out piece of telephone poll packed with gunpowder and mounted under the car and wired/rigged to a device. Maybe nailing gas pedal and at a certain speed would ignite the powder. Wiring to the headlight switch, then turning on the headlights, igniting it that way, etc. This new way is less conventional to say the least. Some movies that used the more violent cannon material: McQ (1974) Race With The devil (1975) Stunts (1977)
I like these "behind the scenes" type videos. Creative editing may be able to hide that structure underneath. Raw footage clearly shows what looks unnatural tubing under the car. Its crazy the amount of safety stuff integrated into these stunts especially as compared to the guys that did stunts for The Dukes of Hazzard. Al Wyatt Jr, Corey Eubanks and the Baxleys did some impressive stuff without jump harnesses, HANS devices or fire suits. Al Wyatt jumped a few cars wearing flip/flops...no shoes!
Depends on the age and budget of the film. TV shows often don't. I remember seeing an episode of Stargate SG-1 were they did a cannon roll. If you paused it at just the right moment you could see the poll flying off screen. Even when they edit it out, the usually forget to do anything about the smoking hole the poll came out of. My guess would be the same thing for this new device, they would CG it out when it is lifting, but forget about it once it fires.
But you can still see the rollover under the car. How do they hide it on the actual footage? Or if they use a cannon roll how do they hide the projectile?
I'm guessing "Need for Speed" coming out in 2014. " Fresh from prison, a street racer who was framed by a wealthy business associate joins a cross country race with revenge in mind. His ex-partner, learning of the plan, places a massive bounty on his head as the race begins." Based on everything I saw in the video.
That moment when you realize you waited 8:50 seconds to see the stunt that you wouldn't have realized you already saw between 0:00 and 0:07 seconds had I not pointed it out to you.
These guy risk the ultimate risk to entertain us. I thank you Stuntmen.
They do it for money actually.
The beginning of the video so satisfying

Just curious.. as a 30 year stunt man.. what is Tom's health like compared to someone of his age?
Amazing bro
I would love to see a behind-the-scenes how they do pile-ups and how they do catapulting airborne
Seems like a cool dude
Hey, you are good!
what movie is it?
But you can still see the rollover under the car. How do they hide it on the actual footage? Or if they use a cannon roll how do they hide the projectile?
well done!
Still cool as hell
Very cool! That are they filming this for?
My name is Tom Harper and I look like Patrick Swayze.
Joke aside, you're the man, Tom.
Damn i didnt think there would be a guy in the crash crazy respect for these stuntmen
All tgis preparation for one rollover? I mean, you turned the car in a safety box, but when it rolled over it´s done.
From Movies?
