You asked during the race: yes, there was bump drafting in 2001 plate racing. You couldn't do it in the turns or the tri-oval, so you'd see guys bumping repeatedly to push down the straight, then lift off the gas to back off in the turns. Also, it wasn't nearly as common as it became later, even on the straights it was an aggressive (though not ridiculous) move. I'm not sure it had the name "bump drafting" yet, though, I feel like maybe I didn't hear that until a couple years later? Also, they were definitely never locked on and pushing, that's something you might see once or twice in a race at most, the bumpers didn't line up enough to do that safely
You have to be careful of TP collections claiming to be of a certain year. It’s odd to me, but guys will make a “2001” collection and load it with any old scheme from 2000-2005.
Jimmie didn't race the 500, but he did three races in the 2001 Season so him being in this group isn't completely wrong. However, including Kenny Irwin, who was dead at this point, is pretty egregious.

How do you race with real drivers in iracing? I have trading paints and created a driver roster for the 2023 season but when I load into a race it's random fake drivers...
You have to go in and edit the AI. For some reason we can put default AI settings in so each car and collection has to be manually edited (which is terrible)
Radman, 2001 was not a fun year. NASCAR losing one of their legendary drivers early in the year and 8 months later, 9/11 happened so 2001 was a terrible year. People would like to forget 2001, period.

These paint shemes looks like it’s a mixture of 00’, 01’, and 02’ & more all together. That might explain why there is Jimmie Johnson in the race.

Incorrect. They were available as ARCA cars but not gen4.
