TBH wide baggy jeans don’t look sexy but I’m not complaining. So wear what makes you comfortable as there are bigger things in life.
Skinny jeans are such a classic silhouette. Honestly, I've tried the baggy and flared jeans and they always make me look bigger than I am. I see them on petite girls and think they are adorable, but personally they don't suit my tall hourglass shape. 100% not into low rise jeans, they are so horrible. lol

I'm also tall and have a hourglass body type but I always thought skinny jeans didn't truly suit me. I love how flare or bootcut jeans look on me instead, I think they enhance tall figures! While skinny fits amazingly on more petit bodies. Pretty much the oppsite in my opinion hahaha
Same here. I'm short but not skinny . I dont wear jeans since it isn't the best silhouette for my body . Anyways if i happen to wear one , i always go for the classic skinny jeans because they make me look slimmer. Also I'm a theatrical romantic kibbe body type. My styling rule is "Dress for the body and not for the trends ".
So no to trends that don't suit me.
I can't imagine going through winter without them, it's like the only thing left that isn't oversized when you have enormous vests, and scarfes, and boots, and stuff cause you're freezing

I remember starting myself and not being able to sleep at night unless I'd done like 200 stomach crunches. It was an awful trend. Doesn't suit curves either.
As someone who survived Y2K in NYC as a model in her late teens and 20’s I can confirm we did not eat sit or breathe in those jeans. And your thong or crack was still always on display bc you couldn’t have the hips to hold them up bc you had to be so thin to wear them. EVERY DAY was ab day. Cell phones but no face tune 😱 😂🤷🏼♀️

Skinny jeans are beautiful! They are also very comfortable. It is just the jeans industry who want to sell more and more so they tend to change the fashion every once in a while.
Skinny jeans will always be used, it makes the silhouette more feminine and bring out so many great features on us 🔥. I just wish medium rise jeans were back again (not low rise tho)

I think you shouldn’t let trends define your fashion and what you want to wear, but wake up the morning and choose what you want to wear and not what the world wants you to wear.
I think we are getting closer to that point of fashion trends coming to an end. Honestly though I feel like they divide rather than unite us because at the end of the day we are all human beings that want to make a difference in life.
I can't live without my skinny jeans. They are part of my personality. I don't go with the trendy and what's in fashion right now. I wear what I like on me and make my own fashion style.
I understand skinny jeans not completely being in style anymore! But I think this transition is extremely difficult for plus size people. As a plus sized woman, I love to wear mom jeans or wide leg when I can ones that properly fit my body, but it’s extremely difficult. I have one pair of wide leg jeans and they fit the best that I’ve ever found, but I still had to have them tailored to really fit me, and that is not financially sustainable for a lot of people. Brands don’t make patterns for plus size people.. they mostly size up smaller patterns. Skinny jeans that typically have some stretch are a staple for a lot of plus sized people because of the flexibility and movability are essential for a lot of us and I wish people would just let others wear what they want and what they’re comfortable with.
SKINNY JEANS ARE NOT DEAD! we are living in a very diverse time in terms of fashion! Many decades are trendy all at once right now. Wide leg jeans are a go, high rise, mid rise, low rise, 70s bell bottoms, boyfriend jeans, mom jeans, girlfriend jeans and YES SKINNY JEANS are still being made and sold and I see tons of people wearing them.... nothing is DEAD in fact ALL JEANS are currently trendy so wear whichever ones suit you best!

I’ve tried flared/wide leg jeans and as a short person who have wide hips I can tell you that they don’t work for me at all 😅 they make me look even shorter

I dont reach for my skinny jeans currently but also, I'm not sure if I can go back to the bootleg or wide leg jeans. I was a teen in the late 90's early 2000's so we wore them alot then. Now the idea me walking on the hems or water creeping up the back of the leg just gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Mid rise, a little bit deep on the back to pack the butt, and tight on the legs, to make them apear slimmer and longer, that way I can wear flats and sneakers without looking a little bit stumpy. It took time and trying out a lot of different models and brands, but it can be done. And usually i will pay a little bit more for good jeans, so that I can wear them longer, to me it pays out. Just have patience while looking😁
I really think that these new trends make sense. These styles really do help with proportion, however, coming from a short person, it’s very hard to tailor these pants and conserve the original style. On another note, I so agree with the jeggings part, they are a HUGE no for me.
I remember in high school back in late 2000 I would wear straight leg, boot cut, and cargo pants. Than I saw the skinny Jean's trend thought it was a weird style for my pear shape but when I first tried on my first pair I thought they made me look neat and put together from that day on it was always skinny Jean's. Now gen Z going back to the fashion of what I wore as a kid in the 90's is the most intriguing thing. Fashion is a revolving door never throw out your Jean's cause it will always come back. I love any Jean style as long as it works for you and you can rock it.

Im still sticking with some of my skinny jeans bcs I'm short & petite.
Jeans with bigger flare bottom than skinny can cost more than $90 minimum that are fit on the waist.
And I have big boobs, I cant just buy pants that are loose on the hips straight to the leg..

Because some teens on TikTok were trying to break the stigma. I would just ignore those folks and feel comfortable with what suits you.

I think we're at a point where, due to social media showcasing such a wide variety of looks without having to actually specifically search for FASHION, almost any fashion type is fine. Nowadays, we have access to so many looks we only would see if we physically met a person from a particular subculture 20 years ago. It's easier to fit in when people are used to your appearance... Or maybe I'm just in my 30s now and I don't care what people think about me... If someone has attempted a style at all, I think "GOOD FOR THEM!" Have fun with fashion.
I have NEVER stopped wearing high waisted bell bottoms: polyester,corduroy, jean…vintage and new. They are my fashion blankie….never thought the skinny was for me and that is fine! Wear what you like when you like it…that makes you an individual 🤙🏝❤️
I still love them and I wear them. I wear what I like, I don't care what people think. I'd rather be myself and wear what I like than try to please others and be "fake"/not myself. Wear them if you like like them! 💛
I wear all styles no matter what is trending.... skinny, baggy, bootleg, straight etc. I've kept all my best jeans and trousers that fit me well, for the last 15 years... it helps that I've stayed the same size... I just add some pieces that are on trend to my outfits... could be a shoe style, tshirt, shirt or jacket...

Honestly don't worry about following trends, create your own style, wear what works for your body and what makes you happy.
I love that there are a lot of options for jeans! My favorites are wide leg jeans, flared jeans, slouchy jeans, cigarette jeans and mom jeans. The best thing is that they are really comfy.
I have bought all of them. At the beginning I was hesitant because skinny jeans have been worn in the last years. But, these trendy jeans have become my favorite!

Keeping skinny jeans. Other cuts make me look bigger than I am. And I am not even a chubby person. I am tall slim hourglass. The only other cut that I like is cigarette pants.

History lesson wrong. Skinny jeans were not men´s breeches. I think you meant to say skinny pants from the 17th century, as at that time jeans as a clothing article didn´t even exist. Denim fabric was widely used among workers (Italy and the Swiss region), but definitely not as skinny pants or among higher society (it was industry and work labor fabric). It was almost at the end of the 18th century when the term "jeans" was introduced and later on by mid 19th century when Levi came into the picture it was standard clothing for cattle workers, for its thickness and durability.
I'm really surprised they're on the way out with the colder months ahead, like you said they're the only jeans that really tuck into boots. I do like the oversized button up with skinny jeans so I'll probably do that a lot this fall

I thought because skinny jeans looked really flattering on me that's all I've worn for the last 10 years AND I am happy to report I love the versatility in wearing other styles. Definitely still keeping them, just adding new styles in! :)
I'm considered "gen z" (born in 2004) but totally love skinny jeans and didn't wear anything else since 2016. For example I love to combine gray skinny jeans with a black leather jacket and I'd love to go back to the early 2010s when they were the most common.
Good that we have now more options than just skinny jeans. I like them, especially in dark denim/black, high-wainsted, but - I also enjoy some more relaxed fits

Honestly? I only dislike low rise jeans. I remember times when they were "IN" and everyone had problems with finding a pair of jeans not showing their undies, so it resulted in many unpleasant social situations at rokplaces and schools, so no, I will never favour them. As for skinny, they are ok, I even love jeggins- very practical if someone like me bikes a lot around the city all year round. But deep down I love flare and bootcut the most and frankly I cannot imagine winter without a decnet pair of bootcut.

I never could wear skinny jeans, because I have short, very strong legs, so that's not a type of jeans that flatter me.

I am 5.1 and skinny jeans looks great on me but I always make sure and get ankle length , that way my legs looks a little bit longer
I love stretchy & skinny in winter with big knits and sweatshirts, and straight, rigid denim in warmer months with classic t-shirts and floaty boho tops.

I have been scouring UA-cam for advice on straight leg jeans…. I’m an athletic 61 yr old runner/cyclist with my legs and butt still being my best feature. Straight jeans feel like those same terrible jeans of the 80-90’s that I was trying so hard to make work on a postpartum body. To me they are still the most unflattering fit. I will try the cigarette Jean you suggested. Also thank you for having non distressed denim. Straight/unstructured AND gapping knees with a crop top and grandpa flannel is just the most horrendous look. It’s encouraging to hear that the skinny is still hanging in there. I appreciate the hope!

Thank you Valeria, I always felt low-key guilty for still enjoying skinny jeans and incorporating them in my outfit but hey, we shouldn't even let the world trends affect our own personal fashion style in the first place!!
If low rise comes back, then anorexia or any eating disorders will come back too. It was connected somehow, let's be honest. Despite of body positivity and all the effort trends tend to influence our behavior .
You know that's a good point, I actually don't mind the look of low rise but only when I'm at a low weight to the point of a really flat stomach, I bought some and thought hmm I need to lose a couple of kg to make these look better and then I caught myself like nope the clothes need to fit us, rather than us fitting the clothes.

I'm with you and have been hoping super skinny jeans go out for a long time (except for tucking into boots as you said. Who has time for pulling them down at the calves every time you bend over? I'm a sixty year old and honestly all of the distressed denim isn't my thing either. I just prefer to wear my clothes out myself. Fun watching and hearing your thoughts. Thank you!

I love my skinnies; I also love a good boot cut. Some of the cuts that are being shown right now would be simply _overwhelming_ for my petite frame... I may never find my way out again!!! All said and done...

I still love skinny jeans, but for change and comfort lately I am loving the more relaxed and looser silhouettes, they are so versatile and flattering.. I absolutely love my black skinny pants the most along with the above mentioned denim cuts .. Skinny jeans are ideal especially with OTK boots ..

I personally prefer the wider silhouette because I don’t like my legs. I have bigger tights and skinny calves, and skinny jeans just accentuates that inverted triangle shape. HOWEVER I personally think everyone should wear whatever they want. I’ve seen some kind of “bullying” on TikTok and I don’t think it’s fair when we’re supposed to be becoming a more accepting society, not going backwards making fun of people for being “outdated” when in fact a lot of trends are just comebacks of “vintage” style. There are many different reasons on why people still wear a different style. Either it is because they like it, it suits them better or actually they can’t afford changing styles. We are all different, we should respect that.
PS: I won’t be jumping on the low rise jean EVER again
I love this breakdown from a former millennial 😍 I just recently got my first pair of mom jeans that actually fits me right and as a proclaimed lover of the skinny jean I have to admit - they are dang comfortable! … but I will still not get rid of my skinny jeans anytime soon - perks of getting „old“ - you no longer care to be cool & trendy all the time 😉 and also, I‘m with you on the low rise - been there, done that and I will NEVER go back 😂

I have added so many more styles of jeans to my wardrobe, (boyfriend jeans, mom jeans, baggy, ect.) However, I won't ever let go of my skinny jeans. I'll always keep at least 3 pairs. I personally still like them. They fit my figure and silhouette well, and are SO comfy to me. I alternate depending on what I feel like.
I’m 5”1, pear shaped 115-120 lbs and I never know what pants/jeans to wear other than skinny jeans. I bought a paid of Wide leg cut jeans and it just makes me look like a box. High waisted is essential but idk if there are cuts that would flatter my body shape. Anyone got any suggestions?

Im short and a bit curvey and skinny high wasted jeans never looked good on me IMO. I think the mid rise flared or boot balances out my figure better. I’m honestly glad the SJ are going out of style, or at least we have more options in the stores to buy. I just tried the baggier pant and I love them! They fit good on my butt and then it goes out for max comfort!!
