Hey Josh - when NBA playoffs start can you do Recap shows of the day's games and breakdown the games and your thoughts on them? Just a pure basketball breakdown vs anything fantasy related. Would be awesome to hear your analysis on the game itself.
Josh - first year double banger here. NY in the house! Wanted to send my thanks as this is my first chip in 6 years. Your insight has helped tremendously 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Im really glad you mentioned the 3amEST issue on yahoo. I’m just recovering from three straight playoff weeks of waking up at 3am to make moves! It’s too much!!! 😩
I’m the commissioner of a 16 team dynasty points head to head matchup league. We moved to bigger rosters and after a couple tweaks it’s working out great. We had tried 18 with 3 IL spots, but what we quickly learned with the IL spots it’s really an inactive list the NBA has and not an injured list. So you could put any player injured or not in the IL spot and leave him there as long as you wanted. So we scratched the IL spots and turned into a 21 player roster size. It sounds extreme but in a dynasty league it really promoted smaller trades where you saw the likes of second round picks being traded. It made it a lot more fun where previously it was hard to do trades unless it involved star players and there were very few trades. The supersize roster also allows to hold onto prospects so you can properly evaluate them for a couple years and helps when injuries happen. There was still enough on waivers players getting close to 15 fantasy points a game to help fill in gaps which is what we think the waiver wire should really be used for using 3 waiver periods in a week so it’s spread out.
What we also did for the teams not in the playoffs is they have their own tournament for draft pick position, and teams with more points get rewarded for better draft picks. If a pick from this group of teams was traded away, for example a team with the 3rd worse record then the remaining 7 teams are playing for draft position 1 and 2 and 4-8 picks. It’s a bit wonky but is working so far. The playoff teams and 2nd round picks are in reverse order of record like the NBA has.
3rd year 12 team and we all love this: 10: PG SG SF PF C F G and 3 Utlity. 6 bench 3 IR 5 Trans limit. No starts limit, thinking maybe 50. Great season Josh! Great show
So I do like the idea of longer matchups. I was thinking 2 weeks for each matchup would be a bit more ideal. But its definitely something to think about for sure
I didn't even think of it for fantasy bball, but in fantasy football in the US you can implement a victory score system. It's still head-to-head like normal leagues. Higher score wins. But your score is also compared to everyone else in the league. If you're in the top half of scoring in the league that week, you get an additional point/win. If in the bottom half of scoring, you get a loss. So, each week, you can potentially go 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2. It's a pretty solid way of mitigating those crazy spike weeks.
Push back I’ve had on FAAB is that they thought it meant they had to be more active than they had time to be … put in the FAAB request then come back in and see if it they claimed the player and then adjust their lineup accordingly
are you going to make a video like a summary of how this season went out? Who were the surprise players, who were the disappointments etc? ill be looking forward to that if you do
You trial my methodology one day with 9 cat. 55 regular season games - play reach team 5 times & 19 playoff games. That’s what i’d like to see one day. Scrub last 8 games of reg season.
Great content as usual josh🙏 How about we all play games cap roto? Lol It’s basically a year-long head to head match up against every team. Yes, going against your buddy and talking smack is fun too. But roto games cap is the way to go imo!
For head to head (9 cat) , I would do an additional 9 Wins and Losses per week, overall. Or you can use these as tiebreakers. Basically, if you have the most of a category, that week, you get an bonus win, if you have least of a category, you get a bonus loss. Everyone else in-between, gets nothing.
Hey Josh love and apprecaite all the hard work you do to try to inprove the game; just wanted to suggest tweaking your color settings, your ears looked concerningly red lol
Do you have any rule recommendations to increase player activity? Almost half of my league just does the draft and are inactive in waivers, sometimes don't even set up their line ups for the week. This leads to a huge gap between active/competitve players and the less active ones.
43:13 - in a 12 team league, how about your week 1 and 12 matchup totals get added together, and then you determine who won each category. So, standings don't become official until week 12, and teams at the bottom don't necessarily feel out of it, half way through.
Thanks Josh for the video! I have a question tho - do you think that the role flexibility should also be a fact in dynasty/keeper leagues, which are already going for multiple seasons? Because I personally don't think so. Would I like more flexibility? Yes. But then again, I made some moves in my keeper league to have more flexibility in roles and not solely because of that, but also because of that. My point is, that in keeper (dynasty is also sort of a keeper setting), you might actually make decisions, where you are sending "worse" player just so you get to open more roster flexibility, when by removing that, you might be at net loss in some situations, because the "better" player would now fit your flex spots and you wouldn't even trade them. So is there maybe a way how to resolve this so it's fair for everyone who made trades in tight starting spots on their minds?
Hi Josh, serious question about position flexibility. As we move towards more flexible positions (G rather than PG), why do we not go all the way to 10 UTIL slots? If the argument is that positions are largely meaningless in the NBA, what happens if we follow that to its logical conclusion? Do you think this would promote specific roster strategies? Is this halfway compromise caused by lingering attachment to traditional positions?
Hello Josh, I participated in your LOFB Bowl fantasy league, but wasn't been able to take a survey, you are talking about...where did I miss it? I play multiple YAHOO, ESPN and Fantrax leagues and I also read a lot of comments in my LOFB Bowl chat and I must say that I don't agree with some of the improvements. Deep rosters was criticized by many participants in LOFB Bowl league, because if your player got injured, there was no way you could overcome that. maybe at the beginning of the year WW was filled with some good players, but later on, when the role of player in teams got stabilized and the injuries hit, you could ust not find any interesting player on WW. basically what was a decisive factor in this league? It was not knowledge, but pure luck (with injuries). Ok, some knowledge during draft was also needed. The second thing that was criticized was the game limit...it took a lot of time to optimally set the player on positions through the week and then on Sunday your best player is OUT and you have nothing to do. Also I don't like the fact that you had the same team in the second and third phase. This makes things even more dependent on luck. On the other hand I did find 2 daily WW pickings great and with 2 H2H matches every week I was ok. So if I conclude - although you tried to make this leagu more dependent on the knowledge I found it more dependent on the luck. Yahoo leagues with 10+3 roster spots is not ideal, but picking the players from WW and deciding how many streaming spots you will have and which categories you will stream (which was absent in LOFB Bowl league) is also knowledge.
Wasn't the standard morning roster-move time for players only on waivers? In other words, you could only claim a free agent one hour before the first tip-off.
Josh, how is it possible, that in my Yahoo Roto league with a season games cap of 820 games per team, 4 of 11 teams have more games counted than that, up to 824 games??? I've searched long and wide, but i found no answer. Thanks!
For positions like centre and flex, because there are multiples. If you are are 163 one day you can play two games the next day , one in each slot, to get to 165
Why can’t matchups be 1 single game. More matchups. Eg competing games could and are often on different days. As there are lots of games the cream rises to the top with winning games. Playoff series best of 5, 7 & 7.
I honestly think lots of fantasy basketball users are missing out by not looking at my methodology. No more 2 game in a week complaints regarding Luka.
Josh you clearly care about the game/industry as a whole i hope people appreciate all the work you do. This is gold
Whoa! This one looks fancy! Cinematics!
Thank you Josh. Won my league on Sunday 🙏🏿🤞🏿
I’d love to join your Roto league, Josh !
New camera is looking great! Excited for the offseason content

I won’t be, because I’m not going to be anchored to the games schedules

In the league where I'm commissioner, for the first time we rewarded the regular-season winner. All league members widely accepted it.
Great stuff! More auction! More roto! I want in the lofb league this year.

i liked 40 in lofb, it felt like you had a team, with starters, and a bench, playing proportional to how it plays out in the league
you don’t need an adds limit if you implement a starts limit
Super informative Josh, thank you! Count me in for some roto!!!
So I do like the idea of longer matchups. I was thinking 2 weeks for each matchup would be a bit more ideal. But its definitely something to think about for sure
i think it’s confusing, one more thing to remember that isn’t strategic
Nailed those predictions. And sorry, I have to watch my Bulls.
New camera? Also, won my league. My third chip but first year watching and you helped. Thanks!

only if there was a tank mode line of victory
I won by .001 fg% thanks josh!!
That’s amazing 😂
I'd play a LOFB roto league.
Let’s goooo

higher dollar entry fee
What category do you suggest adding to replace turnovers in a 9-cat 12-team standard league?
wins😊

you can plan the change further out, like 2025-6

i think it’s a desire to feel like a team

so espn you can’t put G/C, so what’s another option
woah the show looks different. looks like a camera in portrait mode. 😆😆
Wasn't the standard morning roster-move time for players only on waivers? In other words, you could only claim a free agent one hour before the first tip-off.
no. every player was on waivers in the morning
First year playing fantasy & won 3 out of 4 leagues! Thanks for the advice.

What are your plans for the DURANT ranking system going forward?
But Josh I enjoy cramming volume into throats…lol
wouldn't it be bigger balls to beat the pels and attempt to overcome the bad matchup of the nuggets in rd 1? beat the best to be the best?
Why can’t matchups be 1 single game. More matchups. Eg competing games could and are often on different days. As there are lots of games the cream rises to the top with winning games.
Playoff series best of 5, 7 & 7.
interesting
how would you generate a schedule?
@@CorbinSupak-nj3tj - Ive done so in my own leagues many times. Points leagues mainly. Easy to do if you can count
I honestly think lots of fantasy basketball users are missing out by not looking at my methodology. No more 2 game in a week complaints regarding Luka.
The end of the world is coming and Jesus is set to return! believe and ask him into your heart and be saved! Good video, Josh!
So basically we'll be playing Roto 😅
