They were talking about when Chris wanted to start an a capella group and he needed Adam to be the beatboxer. Adam was like "I don't know anything about beatboxing". So he got, I think, three VHS tapes and locked himself in a room for a couple of days. He also said, for those who want to learn to beatbox, they need to have a lot of paper towels when you start out. His beatboxing solo started out as kind of an intermission while the other guys are giving their voices a break. He said that he can beatbox a lot longer than they can sing in a concert. There is a video somewhere, it might be a behind the scenes, where he got done with his solo and the rest of the group lost track of time and didn't come back on stage. He was standing on stage. "I don't have anything else." looking around for the rest of the band. He was talking with them back stage later and he told them he was about to start a beatboxing clinic if they hadn't showed up.
And to think he started learning while in college 24 or so years ago, from watching a DVD! Story is that he drove his dorm roommate nuts with the sounds at night. He almost didn't learn as for a short time when Home Free first formed, Chris was going to be the beatboxer. And of all the guys, Adam is the best dancer in my opinion. You can see it in various videos like from his wedding or in "Love Train". It just pops up from time to time. LOL
He actually said in an interview once that in college, when HF was first starting out, he would spend hours just trying to perfect a single sound. For some reason, his roommate moved out after a month...
Hey Becky!! Thank you again for taking this video and hosting on your channel!!! We appreciate the capture, and being able to share with our Fry friends!! ❤️🥷🏻✌🏽
@beckycrabtree6651 thanks for all of your footage from the shows that you have posted. I have found that yours are better quality than most of them out there and it's much appreciated that you take the time out of your life to share them with perfect strangers so we can enjoy them, too! :)
He does have a loop pedal. But it's behind the bar that he's standing in front of. He uses it in the beginning of his solos now to build an entire song. It's amazing to witness.
But Jeremy was right about the part where Ninja was asking about if Adam was using a looper or not. In that particular moment, it was all him, and for this solo it is all him. That's why I love this one so much. I like the looper stuff, as well, but I like when Adam does it all by himself better, because you can see him challenging himself every second. It always sounds great, though, no matter what. For example, Adam did the high-hat, snare, and vocal bass all at different times for this bit. Just listen to it. You can hear it. But then again, it just comes back to breathing correctly and tons and TONS of practice. What astounds me about Adam is his ability to mix the vocal with the drums as seamlessly as he does. That's hard to do. He is a talented guy, but even more than that, he is dedicated to being the best he can be, and that's why he is so remarkable.
But when he's using the looper that is also when Adam does it all by himself. He's recording himself on the fly, arranging on the fly, creating a whole song from just his voice on the fly. It's like what Peter Hollens does -- layering his own voice multiple times -- except Adam is doing it in real time as you, the audience, watches. It's stunningly complex work and he makes it look easy.
There is another video out there that shows the fall, and it was a hard one! You must remember that we “seasoned” fans have been through a lot of music in our lifetimes, and we were getting down before you were born! 🤘✌️🤘✌️🤘✌️🤘 Actually, we’re mostly in our seats, bopping to the beat, and not blinking because we’re afraid we’ll miss something-seeing it live is incredible!

I thought they might show the fall too. I’m glad Adam is ok. Goodness! Adam is incredible. Good one my guys!😍😄 Remember we old folks started hard core rock n roll.
"I can't wait to hear this in person," says Jeremy. Damn straight!! When I saw my first concert last Fall, during Adam's solo, the whole room shook. The floor shook under my feat. The seat shook under my butt. I spent 0.5 seconds thinking we were having an earthquake. You must see them live!!
Adam is the best. Always puts on a great show. Been to 2 concerts where he was terrific. If you want to see him in concert I suggested you look at their concert schedule and see them this year. It was announced yesterday that Austin is leaving the group later this fall. Love your guys reactions, you all have blessed day
You guys are great at reactions. You cover the spectrum for both ends of reactions. Jillian, you cover the wonder - awe of reactions and give the reactions to the magic of what you are experiencing. Jeremy, you cover the application of "I want to do that" still in awe but reacting with "That looks like too much fun, I got to try it myself." and you can see your eyes running through figuring out a way to reproduce what is happening. And we get to see it all with you two. SO much fun! It is a fantastic start to the weekend. 😉
Joy - my heart is exploding!!! Thank you for this sweet message!!! It's so funny to hear these descriptions, you make us both smile ear to ear. We appreciate you and SO thankful for you joining our journey. This is SO FUN!!!!
I was at that show and I took a friend seeing them for the first time. She was amazed at his talent and asked if that was part of the act....I told her....no
He has told the story of when he was in college his roommate moved rooms because of his noises. Home Free says he's always making weird noises, but I guess they've gotten used to it. He's just honing his craft.
The Strawberry Festival is a lot like a county fair with food, , displays , livestock , concerts and , of course. Strawberry Shortcake. . It happens once a year to celebrate the strawberry crop coming in. It is held in a smaller town ( about 40,000 people) but attracts around 600,000 people to the event.
Thanks for another great reaction. Always love watching these live videos of Adam's awesome talent. I think you watched the older one from 2015 awhile ago. This shows his updated version. Adam is such a trouper. He performed even though he had just fallen down. He does a great job doing the Michael Jackson dance moves. Also amazing how low he can go with the bass sounds.
They were here at the state fair and performing on an outdoor stage. We were about 3 rows back and when Adam "dropped the bass", my 13 yr old grandson actually grabbed his chest because you could FEEL it shake you. You need to check out their Home Away From Home videos. In the one from Adam's house he shows you his beat box studio.
I go to the Strawberry Festival every year...except that year. Sigh. I will never forgive myself for getting pneumonia. LoL. He's an animal and will always be my favorite .
Thanks, Scott @scottdarden3091!!! We've found the same thing...only a couple Adam solos. Appreciate the confirmation...we aren't sure if there is a drum solo portion of a larger concert or something. I'm sure another fry will let us know. Always a pleasure. ❤️🥷🏻

J and J, how are you doing? Great reaction as usual. Thank you Dani! Jeremy I agtee with you, my favorite part is the Michael Jackson part too. I saw them in concert on my birthday last year in Knoxville Tennessee, and when Adam started his drum solo, the sound system went out! Poor Adam. I was sorry for him and also for myself because I was looking forward to it. Then... Tim to the rescue. He did an impromptu storytime! On my birthday! It was awesome! Then the sound system was up and I got to experience the drum solo! Best birthday ever!
Hey, Tina!! We are doing great friend, thank you for asking you sweet thing! Had a little road trip today, so we are LATE on chatting with our Fries!!! OMG your story!!! Leave it to Tim to turn things around and make everyone smile. Thanks for sharing this, we love your comments!!
@ghstdnsr I'm so excited that I will be at the Biloxi concert in April. I would like to maybe get to one more before Austin leaves, but not sure if that will be possible. Time will tell. Just thankful I could get to one of them before he moves on.
I’ve been to quite a few concerts of HF. Adams spotlight does not do him justice on videos. He is AMAZING! On that note, I sat in the second row of one behind the speakers and videos do not do Tim justice in video with his low notes. It honestly gave me heart palpitations ❤. You both need to experience them in person.
Jillian is so feisty today lol :) So some of the fries may have told you already or maybe I did - I'm very forgetful - but Adam is a former brass player, has his BA degree in trumpet, which actually really helps with his technique for beatboxing. In fact, it's the perfect foundation to build on. I was also a brass player in the past (trombone), and you really do have to build up your muscles in your mouth to be able to do the "double-tonguing" and "triple tonguing" (think double - ta-kah-ta-kah or triple ta-ta-kah, ta-ta-kah). If you try it, it's awkward at first, but then you get better at it. I imagine Adam would be the first one to tell you it's just practice like anything else. Plus I personally think it is all about breathing. Breathing technique makes all the difference. Thanks for reacting to this. I get on my husband's nerves with my paragraph texts to him, too, so in order to give him a little break from me, I just write paragraphs to you guys instead lol. It's just I get really excited about music, actually. I'm not always long-winded with everything. But in this case, I'm just spreading the love. Peace!
@danivanriper4061 Is Adam a Gemini? He reminds me of my brother, who is like two people in one body. When not being the alien beatboxer, Adam sounds just like a middle manager in a midwest manufacturing facility. It's funny.
I really think that Adam Rupp seems to be too much of an introvert to be Gemini, but that's just my opinion. My son is a Gemini and my son is completely different. Adam is more like me, I think. Who knows. I'm a Taurus, born 4/28/75. Don't know how much merit is in all of this astrology stuff, and I don't have time to look it up, but if you ask me, Adam Rupp is either a Taurus or a Pisces.
I've watched a couple of beatboxing competitions on y/t - granted they can make a variety of noises; however, that's nowhere close to sounding like a perfectly played drum kit and keeping it consistent with and throughout a song. Adam Rupp's been beatboxing for over 20 years and is incomparable.
Yep, so sad :( We cover on next FrYday's videos (today's vids were recorded the day before the announcement dropped). Smart to get those tix...we need to do the same ASAP.
@@musikbyjh You two really should react to Austin's solo release called I'll Go First! Listen to the words carefully & have tissue nearby. Amberly helped write the third verse!
We all are convinced Adam is a alien 👽 If you’re going to see Home Free do it soon because Austin is leaving Home Free in the fall. We got the sad news yesterday 😢 Btw they are releasing a remake of Ring Of Fire Today
As far as true sounds of a drum I think he’s definitely # 1 . He has obviously worked extremely hard to imitate every part of a drum set all the way from bass drum to metal on metal sounds of brushes on cymbals. Tim says his ADHD comes in handy cause he wants every sound to sound exact! On a sad note Austin is leaving for a solo career in the fall! Great job guys and keep up the good work! Low bass Kenneth
Sorry I don't have a link, hopefully someone does... but the best Adam Rupp solo video I've heard, with the best sound is the newer of the two videos of him wearing a red flannel. These are the two most reacted to probably. The older video with the credits had been seen by all the Home Fries. But the newer video started being reacted to not that long ago, so not as many people have watched it. If I can find the original link, I'll post it here.
Well, I can tell you what we "seasoned" fans are doing during Adam's solo -- we're wishing we could get closer. It's absolutely amazing. He does use a looper now for part of it, but the second half is just, as he says, "one man and one mic".
@@musikbyjh You'll have to try harder than that to disrespect me. I'm proud to be a "seasoned fry". Although I prefer my fries unseasoned - oh - well, this conversation seems to be headed in a weird direction.... Have a great weekend.
@@kmwwrench This made me lol. To continue the weird direction, I consider myself a Home Fry, but only if I can be a Thrasher's Home Fry. Perhaps J and J know what I'm talking about, not sure, but it's a place in OC, MD and Rehoboth Beach area that sells the very BEST fries, and I love them with lots of vinegar, muah just so amazing! The more seasoning, the better ... and maybe throw some Old Bay on there, too, for good measure lol.
Are you guys unfamiliar with Adam Rupp's abilities? Well, I guess I get to repeat my favorite quote about him once again: "People say Adam Rupp's beatboxing is really amazing, but apparently it's just considered kind of average ON HIS HOME PLANET."
Sad initially, but Home Free will attract top-notch replacements, just like they did with Chance replacing Chris Rupp. And Austin will likely have a dynamite solo career. More quality music to react to.🤔
I have an idea. At the end of Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Peter Hollens said he would work with Home Free every time if he could. How's that for an Austin replacement??😃
With yesterday's announcement, pick a concert location that's within a few hours of you and just drive. Now that Austin is leaving, there is time pressure. Do it. Just do it.
Can confirm Jeremy Us seasoned fries do get ummm "Involved" *chuckle I'm 58 and a Gen X-er I have to use either a cane or a walker due to some health issues and my lack of balance. I still have been known to dance way more than my Dr. would recommend but yah know what I feel the need and do a lot of dancing anyways. I go home from a show jazzed/ tired/ hurting/ excited and ready for more every time. Dance like no one's watching sing like no one's listening HF loves getting us up and involved.
Hey Vicky @vickybolsby9153 ! Sorry we are late to the party...Jer and I had a little road trip today during the BEST time of the day. Argh! Sadly, yep. The announcement came out the day after we recorded today's videos. We discuss Austin's departure a bit (more like whine about it!!) in next FrYday's videos.
What do you think we 'seasoned' fans grew up listening to? My favorites are Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Metallica, so do you really think we can't deal with a little beat-boxing? It's really soft core compared to War Pigs and Enter Sandman. I do think that Adam's grandkids will have the most to brag about out of the group's grandkids when they are all 'seasoned'!
YES!!! That's what WE are talking about!!! Sorry we are late to the party...had a little road trip today. Catching up now, thanks for holding down the forte for us!!! ❤️🥷🏻
IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THE NEWS YET, AT THE END OF THE YEAR, AUSTIN IS LEAVING HOME FREE FOR OTHER PROJECTS. HE COULD OCCASIONALLY COLLAB. WITH THE GUYS.
Thanks, Alic and Ms. Chuck!! Yep, so sad :( We cover next FrYday...these vids were recorded the day before the announcement dropped. We are in denial, really. :(
I'm always watching his neck, too, which sounds super weird. Adam is like the dilophosaurus from the first Jurassic Park movie .... or maybe he is just part bullfrog lol. One of my other favorite things to watch is his chest (not for the reasons most people are thinking), but because he's got an amazing lung capacity. On his last big note, his chest is like an enormous balloon that is deflating at a perfectly consistent speed, which means he is allowing enough air to come through behind that long note to not only sustain it, but to make it rumble the fans evenly/consistently for the duration of how long he holds it. He's truly a skilled master of his craft. And I think he also knows how to work with a mike like a champ, too, but that's a different story, and doesn't diminish in any way his talent. It adds to it, in fact.
At the concerts, Adam's 9 minutes or so of just him , is absolutely crazy. It's a wall of sound that you have never you'd never heard before
Oh, I wish I could have seen that!😂😂😂

I never saw the Michael Jackson part before! Very cool!!😎 I saw a video with a lot of the other stuff he was doing!🔥🔥🔥
This is an amazing video. He usually does it right after the break. I really enjoyed watching your reactions to this.
Did yall see that Austin is leaving? I booked my tickets to the concert in the area.
We all are convinced Adam is a alien 👽
If you’re going to see Home Free do it soon because Austin is leaving Home Free in the fall. We got the sad news yesterday 😢
Btw they are releasing a remake of Ring Of Fire Today
Soooo sad :( Hey, thanks for the heads up on the re-release of Ring of Fire, Lynn!
@@musikbyjh Your Welcome 😊
@@musikbyjh the date for the release has changed to Monday
Adam has a beat lab. There are videos where he shows it to us
As far as true sounds of a drum I think he’s definitely # 1 .
Adam is ADHD??? So am I and I just got the perfect shirt, and I bet Adam would love it:
ADHD&D
(pic of d20)
Roll for concentration !
So fun and unbelievable to see it live!
Well said - and please know Jeremy meant no disrespect, only love! PS: we consider ourselves semi-seasoned. ❤️🥷🏻
That a girl, Dani!!!
#ADAMRUPP #HOMEFREE
Are you guys unfamiliar with Adam Rupp's abilities? Well, I guess I get to repeat my favorite quote about him once again:
"People say Adam Rupp's beatboxing is really amazing, but apparently it's just considered kind of average ON HIS HOME PLANET."
LOL, right?! Adam never ceases to amaze....SO incredibly talented!!
Are you aware that Home Free has announced that Austin is leaving the group after their fall tour?!😢
Yep, so sad :( We cover next FrYday...these vids were recorded the day before the announcement dropped.
Do it. Just do it.
We were JUST talking about this!!! Absolutely we will see them before Austin leaves!!!
This is before he started to you the looper
Did ya hear Austin in leaving HF this fall😢
I'm heartbroken and I was wondering if Jeremy and Jillian would react to it
I think this was recorded before the news came out, so they will likely comment next week. There are a lot of heartbroken HomeFries right now! ❤️
I get it he's wanting to do other stuff and be home more with his wife. But he will truely be missed as a part of HF.

🤣🍟
What do you think we 'seasoned' fans grew up listening to? My favorites are Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Metallica, so do you really think we can't deal with a little beat-boxing? It's really soft core compared to War Pigs and Enter Sandman. I do think that Adam's grandkids will have the most to brag about out of the group's grandkids when they are all 'seasoned'!
TGIHF!
YES!!! That's what WE are talking about!!! Sorry we are late to the party...had a little road trip today. Catching up now, thanks for holding down the forte for us!!! ❤️🥷🏻
I'm upset Austin is leaving the group towards the end of the year
Us too :(
IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THE NEWS YET, AT THE END OF THE YEAR, AUSTIN IS LEAVING HOME FREE FOR OTHER PROJECTS. HE COULD OCCASIONALLY COLLAB. WITH THE GUYS.

Thanks, Alic and Ms. Chuck!! Yep, so sad :( We cover next FrYday...these vids were recorded the day before the announcement dropped. We are in denial, really. :(
Next time look at his neck muscles!
They are probably bursting!
