Explanation for each one: #5: No non-hand/foot hit the ground, he was never down #4: Until this year, you could surprise onside kick, as long as, like normal, it went 10 yards #3: Refs never blew the whistle, other team hadn't hit the end zone or maintained control of the ball to get down, so ball is still live #2: Until this play, any points scored would override any penalties and be counted. Here, every player in the Ravens were holding until the clock expired, then took the safety with 0 seconds left and that was game #1: No player ever touched the ball down, pretend this was an onside kick that went into the end zone
#3 Not that the refs didn't blow the whistle, the rule is once the punting team touches the ball, its dead where they touched it. Even if he would have been tackled in the end zone or fumbled the ball, the ball would be down where the punting team touched the ball.
@@neils19 you say that, but they'd have to hear about it that night from their wife about how much money she just lost and he KNOWS he'll be too old to play in 5 years so there's no more money coming after that
The 3rd one is subtle. If the kicking team touches the ball first, which happened here, then the receiving team can do almost anything and keep the ball. Had the runner fumbled after running a bit? Receivers just take the ball at "first touching". It's like a penalty with no flag and no yardage, just the do-over part. The Ravens one is just weird that a coach actually thought that up in the moment OR they planned for this situation some time in the past. Either way that is awesome.
That’s not at all correct. The held to drain the clock so the game would end, there is no extra down extension for offensive penalties. It has literally nothing to do with the safety. The punter Koch could simply have walked to the 1 yard line and knelt when the clock hit 0 for the same effect on the game. He ran out the back of the endzone for the extra second or two just in case a defender would get close. There was no 2 points counting has nothing to do with the brilliant play call here
That onside kick will never happen again because now you have to declare for an onside kick. They need something new like under 5 mins left in the game you can choose to do a 4th and 15 to try and gain another possession.
first one his forward progress was stopped, and he was sitting there for a brief second. The last one had several players come off the bench and onto the field.
okay but you know it's to the ref's discretion when it comes to forward progress. If they decide the runner has the ability to go forward, then they don't stop the play. That rule is for safety reasons, mostly, not technicalities
So the kicking team would have gotten a penalty for too many men on the field, which likely would have been declined. No whistle was blown on the play, so the play wasn't over.
I actually kinda like it. It's sweetly melancholic which may seem out of place considering the subject, but I actually think it lifts the visual. Blended with both the cheering of the crowd and passion of the commentators, it reveals the visceral beauty of the game - to me. But anyway I'm just a casual lmao.
@@Loserville44nah man stop talking yourself down, you aint no casual!! like fr, you just so eloquently elaborated on why you think the music is not trash, really brought forth your point, left it at that & left, lol. never once have i ever seen someone not just say „nah you trippin“ or „stfu this music slaps“ in the youtube comments but rather precisely & eloquently explain why he is of a different opinion. and that quite frankly makes you anything but a „casual“; you my sir are one hell of a distinguished, formal, professional, concerned, careful & thorough man that deserved his flowers. 💐 i hope you have a great day today / tomorrow or in whatever timezone you find yourself
We really need to bring back surprise onside kicks. This whole, "you have to tell the team your doing an onside kick" thing is really annoying and takes away from the excitement and strategy of the game. Plays like the McAfee recovering his own onside kick will never happen again. 😔
Missed the most "Exploiting the NFL rules" play of all time. Cobb recovering a kick while out of bounds to create a penalty on the kicking team and take the ball at the 40 yard line.
I think the head coach, upon hearing McAfee idea, claimed he would cut McAfee if the kick failed. I doubt McAfee would have actually been cut though. He was such a skilled player, and kickoffs are sometimes returned near midfield anyway.
I watched one of the playoff games last night and was Disappointed in what they have done to the inside kick. ONLY in the 4th quarter, and the refs have to be told. Pathetic.
Amazing what one can accomplish just by knowing the rules of the game, there are players that play the game!, then there are players that the game plays! Think about that
Play #4 - the Ravens punt: The scary part of that play is how long it took both officials to throw flags! The Ravens bearhugged every player - yet it took a good 5 seconds for someone to throw a flag!
Not one of these are knowing the rules it’s just playing to the whistle maybe 2 maybe. An example of knowing the rules is like obj running out of bounds backwards so that the clock stays running
How was Chris Johnson a RB1? Gotta 2nd chance to get to the end zone cause of the unrecognized rule … with a head start …. and still got chased down like he was playing tag with his friends 🙄
He had a lot of mileage already from his Titans days, and was 30. Arizona wasn't really drafting backs either, just paying for guys with their best years behind them. They did this for a while: Emmitt Smith, Edgerrin James, CJ2K, Adrian Peterson, etc.
Wow look a player who knows the rules! incredible! Are players expected to be so dumb they dont know the rules of the game they play professionally or am I missing something?

As a rams fan the Robert Bailey play was literally the best thing to happen for the rams from the 1989 NFC championship game through the 1998 season.
The ravens O-line was choking out the D-line🤣🤣
Real
“ Vs thats so Raven” 💀
I was looking for this lol
McAfee was a beast for a kicker
Bengals and ravens the man had him in a head lock
intentional
Buddy should’ve rocked the punter at the back of the end zone anyway 😂😂
Not worth the $11,000 fine, and getting swarmed by the home team
@@mskolnik2 definitely worth the pocket change

No it's not 🤣
Agreed
@@Wolverine1987 You right. Cory in the house was way better. S Tier.
Onside kick and extra 2 point have to be scheduled now. Has taken from the game.
Next might be scheduling run or pass.😮
Excellent video ! ! * Strange things happen in the NFL... :)
This is probably the best of all the videos so far.
you think so?
Dwayne Harris and Chris Johnson in one video. Let's Go Pirates. ECU! Purple! Gold!
I was there! I think Miami came back from a large deficit to win the game. Was a long time ago. But GO Jets and Dolphins. I like both.
I'm proud of my school. Two of these players, Chris Johnson and Dwayne Harris, played at East Carolina.

The current proposal is 4th and 20 from the 25 I think.
Thats a terrible idea
They should go back to surprise onside kicks
betting McAfee watches his play every morning to start the day....lol

Yup. Knowing the rules -HELPS(!)
Nice video I subbed
The starting catcher for the Baltimore Orioles, Adley Rutchman, was a kicker for one season at OSU and kicked the ball to himself.
2 former ECU Pirates in that clip. Noice!
The Ravens play was genius. 10 of 11 players got called for holding, but they ran out the clock.
I can’t believe we don’t see more punts returned after being touched by the punting team. There is literally no risk in that situation
If the music weren’t so depressing I’d watch more.

what is the music that is playing during the video ?
these are soooo much better than standing out of bounds then grabbing the kickoff
CJ gave himself up so he could have been called down with forward momentum stopped. But you have to play to the whistle

Bro #41 for the broncos just layed on the ball and said “here ya go” and gave it to the raiders😭
"That's So Raven"😂
The Brngals Ravens one was definitely knowing the rules, but when you are benefittef by fouling 10 players at once, something is wrong

Double punt by Dickson (Seahawks) vs Rams.

Chris johnsons forward progress was stopped. Bad no call

Can't do #2 anymore. Not bec of a blockage but bec of the onside kick rule.
Recovering your own onside kick is wild tho! 😳😱😱💯
Its bull. Why are they all doing that then?
Eso es lo que yo llamo estar en el juego, avisados.
I can't believe CJ2K slowed up! No one could chase him down. What was he thinking?
One decent reason I HATE the new kick 0ff rules.
5- wouldn’t he be “down by contact”. The lineman was on his back, on the ground, preventing the runner from hitting the ground.
The best part is you have 5+clips here and none were the pats
Chargers fair catch free kick should be here
Top 10. Proceeds to only show 5

Pat McAfee.
Allegedly.

I thought once the ball touches the end zone the play is over?
Ball hit the back of the end zone.. Robert Bailey shouldn't have been able to return it
Objectively false
With all the rules and the changing of the rules every year of the NFL, I am surprised the referees know most of the rules.
No one's rushing him 'cuz everyone's getting held 'cuz there's literally no real penalty for doing so...
#1 will never happen again.

How about Randall Cobb
Three of these plays are impossible nowadays. They literally changed the rukes after number two.
How about Randall cobb
Oh sure
Chiefs just did #2 and everyone got mad
All these are common knowledge for football except the punt it’s like putting a pass as knowing the rules
I doubt that considering 3 of them are no longer allowed due to NFL rule changes.
I barely know football so can someone explain how is he allowed to catch his own kick?
i thought it was top 10 not top 5 lol
If Pat failed that onside he wouldve gotten cut
What’s the song
I hate how the officials were throwing those flags like they didn’t know that it was on purpose
#2 isn’t “knowing the rules” it’s just an onside kick

#2 is the holding on everyone play
@@mskolnik2prob meant second clip, also it's #4 that was the onside not 3 gng

Can you just post content from other creators? - if so that’s easy $
You see tackles like Johnson was tackled almost every game and refs always blow the play dead.
“Top 10”
Only puts 5
#5 should be down. Forward progress stopped
Too bad onside kicks have been ruined

That game makes no sense. Why is it called football? Where is the football? Where is the play with the foot?
Then the nfl decided to be stupid and make everything an automatic touchback and change kickoffs

such basic knowledge lol

ok
