    This episode was so emotional that I cried for the pain that Marc suffered as a child, losing his brother only to have to bare the unfortunate brunt of his mother's wrath for a death he couldn't prevent. Then finding out that Steven was the character he created that helped him block out the pain that Marc was suffering. Its an incredible series, 10 out of flipping 10. 🤗

      Good theory, but wasn't Marc the one who was purchasing the fish in the first place? Only credible bit would be Marc was in a rush when he purchased it the day or two before, but I don't think they'll go into that much detail in the last episode.

      Jake replaced the fish and he tried to get one just like the original to preserve Stevens sanity. Jake is also the one who buys Steven the postcards as his mother. Marc wouldn't care, it was his two day trip to the Alps that killed gus.
      And little mind boiler : theres no way Marc flew to the Alps and back to London in just two days. That and the constant "wake me up" before you gogo playing in the cupcake scenes really made the wake up feel real. What if he can't tell the difference between his dreams and waking life because his dreams are his and the others memories back on the boat in the duat where Jake has been imprisoned. Maybe Jake did die when Mark became moonknight, stuck in the afterlife with no one because the gods all closed up shop or were imprisoned. Slowly growing more mad having to watch Marc and Stevens lives play out while trying to get their attention. They die see his sarcophagus down there and still don't free him lol.

    When he is first talking to Dr. Harrow it's someone with a Chicago accent and there is a Cubs poster on his wall. I think Jake was the identity that took the beatings. Also, there was a baseball bat used in the fight on the boat. Also also, there are what look like nunchucks next to Steven when he is cleaning up the markers. This was my favorite episode. I cried so hard at Oscar Issac's performance as Marc drunk crying about her not 'deserving this'. She abused him and broke him yet he still loved her. It can be so hard to deal with that at any age. He was so young when his psyche split in order to protect himself from the trauma of being hated and repeatly hurt by your own loved one. This Episode was a cinematic perfection. The symbolism of the scenes with the memories of Marc is really emotional, this series keeps on setting up the bar higher than the last. What makes it work is the fact that the main character's flaw is somewhat grounded with Marc's mental illness stemming from an abusive mother and used Steven as an escape or a coping mechanisms. Moonknight is by far the best Disney+ series so far in my opinion.

    Steve is frozen and Jake is locked, this was the only way for Marks heart scale to find balance.
    Also, my bet is that Dr. Harrow is either Konshu trying to help Mark find a equilibrium between personalities, or can even be Jake as a street rat trying to keep every personality alive, acting like the mediator since he is the one with access to ALL memories from ALL personalities. My money is on Konshu.

    • @MegaMerlin2011
      @MegaMerlin2011 2 роки тому +44

      I think you're on to something. I think Harrow is there because he's the voice of Ammit, and I think Khonshu is watching the whole thing play out and smirking because he wants the personalities separate in the comics to take over Mark's body. Jake and Steven could come back in the last episode and destroy Khonshu for not helping, OR, because the show seems to be taking a different direction from the comics, Khonshu could come into play in the end and pull all the personalities back.
      As for Jake, I agree. He'd have to be locked in order for the scales to balance if we're considering the Egyptian beliefs. Instead, it appears the scale is considering the physical weight, so when Steven went overboard, his heart was taken off the scale so Mark's heart would balance with the feather. Jake does exist, and what strikes me as odd is they don't see the memory of when Jake took over and went on a killing spree in episode 3 or 4.

    One thing I've noticed is that Mark as a kid tried to copy Steven's accent when he was playing with his brother, which is why some people in comments and forums who are English noticed how bad Oscar Isaac's English accent is. In one interview, he was asked if the accent was on purpose and he didn't answer which means it was an important plot line and it would have been a spoiler. This kinda confirms that Steven's accent wasn't natural and was made as part of another identity Mark created while escaping hard situations as a child.

    Okay so my theory is that everything we saw after the gun shot is a layer within a layer reality. After the gun shot, harrow or maybe Ammit is trying to extract info from marc's brain and for this they created a illusion of Dr. Harrow and the asylum and within this reality there is another which is the ship. As Dr. harrow said to marc to tell whatever he is hiding to steven and he also knew about the ship and Taweret. And to get his info(whatever that is) they must know all the memories of marc but the problem was that marc had personalities and memories are divided so arthur asked marc to tell the truth to steven so that the whole info will be there. But they didn't knew that JAKE is also there and this may mess up ammit's plan.

    • @kreiyu
      @kreiyu 2 роки тому +2

      i don't see what info ammit would want though. marc was just a road block for ammit. and now that harrow shot him, it doesn't matter what mark knows. whether mark made it to the fields or got frozen in the sands, it didn't matter to ammit because konshu and his avatar are now out of her way. and it looks like ammit might be busy anyway, as we saw taweret pointed out how a lot of souls are just falling to the sands now. making me think that while mark is on his therapeutic journey, that harrow may have gotten ahold of layla and ammits statue, and now ammit is too busy killing people to care about what marks soul is up to. when marc finally gets back to reality, he's going to greeted with ammits shitstorm lol.

      I’m convinced that it’s actually Jake in Harrow’s office at the start of the episode. Note how he’s suddenly beat up with a broken nose and there’s zero explanation as to why! Marc didn’t look like that in episode 4. His accent is way stronger and he is immediately violent, going so far as to grab the glass pyramid to kill Harrow and threatened to kill himself. We never see Marc or Steven be this unhinged at any point in the asylum.
      Later we see Harrow has been trying to speak with Steven and in patients with DID, the doctor always tries to speak with all the identities for therapy sessions. I think Harrow succeeded at bringing out Jake and that’s where we started in the episode.

    Setting aside the fantastical comic stuff, this episode really was amazing the whole series so far has. Just the care, respect and attention put towards a character with dissociative identity disorder. Oscar Issacs acting deserves an Emmy for portraying such a complex character with a culturally misunderstood mental disorder. I was in tears the entire episode and I honestly don’t really care about what’s real or not. For me the entire series is more or less just an amazing character driven drama about a man dealing with a disorder in a world where other worldly entities exist like the avengers and thanos. I think the very fact they exist in a universe w “superheroes” probably influenced his D.I.D. (I really want to know from a clinical psychology perspective how accurate Issac’s portrayal of Marc, and Steven is to real life patients with D.I.D.)

    I think episode 6 will have a lot of Jake Lockley. In the scene we get him, he instantly scans his surroundings for something to defend himself with. I think the final alter is going to explain how Marc killed his mother out of self defence, and I think the fact that he picked up that weapon was a dead giveaway. I'd be able to identify that instinct anywhere. This is something that a child or person develops when they wake up every day to physical attacks, whether by a parent or some other force. In this case, we can be certain it's his mother. I actually also just remembered that scene where Marc rushes Steven out of the room but you can hear his mother beating him with a belt, which further supports where they might be going.

    Shiva is the week after the burial where the mourner observes certain customs (not wearing shoes, not sitting on normal chairs, etc.) while being available for people to come and pay their respects (a Shiva call). The mourner does not leave the house even to pray and it is common for the prayer services to be held in the house. There's a lot more involved, but those are the basics. I don't know what happens at a wake so I can't compare.

      I'm Jewish and was raised Catholic. I've participated in various ways in both types of observations. The main difference from a wake in my experience is who it is for. Wakes can be pretty exhausting for the family: a lot of holding space for other people's grief, event planning, and social customs and niceties. Sitting shiva centers the family and their grief. The community certainly comes and shares in it and processes their grief as well, but it's meant to center those who were closest to the deceased, and give them space for the emotional journey of grieving.
