Thank you, I was going hard on my Emergency Savings, and completely ignoring my expense account. It was stressful. Now that I balanced it out, I feel so much better. You are soooooo on point with this talk. Thanks again ❤
My parents worked on an old trailer that they fully renovated and sold for a profit, but they tracked every penny they spent, including the average cost of supplies that they already had on hand. Their gross profit was 8,500 but after what they put into it and spread over the time they spent, they made 4.23 per hour. They enjoyed the project though, and they got to use it for a bit before selling it, so good on them. If your hobby makes you money even if it is just a little, that is much better than a hobby that costs you hundreds a month.
Shipping luggage within Japan is the BEST. Chefs kiss. Please note its best done from hotel to hotel or if the location can guarantee someone is on-site to recieve it. Cost is by size of bag not the weight. Omg I want this in the states. Sharing if you still want to try this out. Also as a tip have a day bag with essentials and 1 or 2 change of clothes. Didn't need it after doing this multiple times on a trip.
This is a really vulnerable comment but can i just say that Ramit hits a father figure model for me? My dad is a first generation + narcissist so I never had the concept of a healthy father who knew how to secure themselves financially in the US. Ramit is confident, he takes care of himself, he teaches others how to do the same, AND he teaches how to be financially secure emotionally and physically. Thanks man, lol. :)
It's not about how much you make, it's all about how much you save and invest! Keep your fixed expense low, pay off all the debt and then start investing the savings! It's not about how much you accumulate but it's all about how much you experience! When you travel you experience life and create memories!
I ran across your channel about a month ago and I’m OBSESSED with listening to alllll your episodes! I love how you get into the psychology of money and keep it real. I’m not a big fluff person so it’s perfect for me. I plan to watch your Netflix show also. I purchased both your book and workbook and am excited to get into it! When it comes to shipping your suitcase for travel, have you considered FedEx express? The express branch is a flight company so they’re fast and a stand up company. If your bags are not delivered on time, you get your money back with ease. However, I’m not sure how it would do for international.
I can so relate when it comes to over sharing on cost of things. Ten minutes before watching this video I texted my husband telling him what I bought……and the great deal that I got. 🤣 Moving forward, if someone pays me a compliment then I will simplify my response with saying thank you.
you are so inspiring !!! I have good income and good mind set but no plan and how to invest and in where to invest for good return ? My husband has different mind set but he doesn't stop supporting me .Can you please help me how, how much, where and when to invest ?
On the topic of over sharing on costs, its funny, in my family there is a sense of pride and excitement when someone compliments a personal item and we say something to the tune of “Right? 5$ at Marshalls”. I wonder if this behavior still ties back to a fear of wasting money.
omg I really overshare the cost of things a lot and justify a lot and I always talk about how I got it on sale or discount or preloved. Especially since growing up, the cost of things was always talked about, anytime I'd buy something - my parents would remind me of WHY I couldn't afford it. So now, I feel like I have to justify it even if its a lie. As for luggage free, hearing your trip-up with Luggage-Free esp. considering that AMEX Plat offer 15% off, I expected better. Thanks for actually giving the brief review on this.
Thank you, another great episode. We are actively working to live our best rich life. Just read this quote the other day, which I firmly believe; “Buy experiences, not things. Spending on experiences makes people happier than spending on things. Things get broken and go out of style. Experiences get better every time you talk about them.” - Jean Chatzky
Hi Remit... Just watched all the episodes of your show. I would like to know your perspective on small business owners (cleaning services). I struggle with personnel, keeping the good ones, payroll, and the extras
It looks like I'm paying a 5.76% fee when money is taken out each month for my Roth IRA through Ameriprise. Not great but at least it's on the money going in vs the growth right?
OMG… my entire Midwestern family minimizes cost when receiving a compliment. 😂 Why is this a Midwestern behavior? The reason a car is not important to Ramit is because he has access to public transportation. Having a dependable car (10 years old or less) can be the difference between life and death where I live.
Many people use the reliable car to buy the most insanely expensive cars with huge car payments. It’s a balance. Run the numbers and own the consequences. Buy the car you can afford.
Thanks for all this helpful info. As always!! Just a thought, I would think if I ran into you in person, I would want to brag as well that I got a good deal. Or shopped wisely. Sounds like maybe that’s what people are doing. 😂
If I had a nickel for all the people who told me I am crazy to not be jumping right back into buying real estate after I "prematurely" (their word, not mine) sold the home where I raised my family, I'd be able to pay cash for a new one lol. "You're just throwing your money away." "What are you going to do when you retire?" "You have to own something." No, I'm not. I'm going to be fine when I retire. And, no, I don't.
If I want to spent 100k/yr in retirement and I plan to retire in 15 years. Should I consider a 3% inflation rate when I'm calculating my 4% safe withdraw number? That means I would have to save like I will really need closer to 157,000/ year. Right? Am I looking at it wrong?
I love your videos but Ramit, having your bags (and food??!!) shipped separately is just extremely environmentally irresponsible. Please think about what you and others who want this convenience do for our planet. You can think about this as another lens! Just because you can afford it, it doesn't mean it's good if you look at it from another view. :)

My three favorite channels: I Will Teach You To Be Rich, StockBrotha, & How Money Works. Make my week complete! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Thank you for covering real estate FOMO. I feel like I'm being gaslit constantly by people who think that buying is ALWAYS a good idea.
people are sheep! do your own thing and try to find the right advice!
something always being anything is a nutty concept lol
The most invaluable channel I've ever watched. Thank you, Ramit!

😂😂 I’m totally that person who says I got it at Marshall’s! Ugh!
When I was young & broke, "Taco Bell" Rocked! Meals for $2!
SOPs for traveling is definitely my next step! 😍
This was a great episode! Thank you, Ramit!

I takes so much realization to know some random people who are getting rich by luck or whatever reason is not a part of your rich life.
Hi Remit...
Just watched all the episodes of your show.

Whoa never been here this early. Listening to this at 3am
Omg! Tell me about it Got stuck in Philly Airport in September. Used American Airlines....never again!
Love the travel recommendations...VERY helpful. I would definitely use a transport luggage service...Glad to know NOT to use Luggage Free. 🙏
There’s a luggage service in Japan that was perfect. I don’t know the name, but the logo is cats. Amazing.
Ramit! I have a trip in American 😢 soon
Thanks you 🙏🏾

Thank you i love it
“Stupid Steve 😂” hahahaha🤣hilarious!
Luggage free has such good reviews. And even has A+ on BBB. Interesting he had such a terrible experience.

Why don’t you like American Airlines?

They said *luggage free* and mean *forever* 🌈😅🙈
😆
Does anyone know how to join Ramits slack channel?
iwt.com/moneycoaching
These are the same people who would justify their lives.
Ugh. I wanted a couples session sad😢
Could you please make short duration videos (10-20mins) ? It would be extremely helpful
You might want to check out the time stamps.
The BEST way to have a 4-6 week sabbatical? Never have kids 🤣. #True (fyi - I have kids, lol)
Save and bring kids with you.
😂 I just told me cousin that she couldn’t bring her kids to our New York trip.

I too want to cat walk the airport without luggage! 😃

Tips for rich people.
