Yeah Ahyeon was not able to debut bc of health reasons and they didnt say anything for a long time to the annoyance of the fans, but YG had to debut them in 2023 (variety of reasons including like shareholders and also distraction from legal troubles) and so they announced that Ahyeon wouldnt debut but she was still part of the group. Fans were really angry at YG and kept demanding more information but obviously she’s a minor and it probably wasn’t up to him abt what info they could share. After Batter Up he again confirmed Ahyeon was in the group, and shortly after, in the beginning of January he released a suprise announcement, explaining that Ahyeon fully recovered, was back at YG and preparing for the album. Many fans and also just K-netizans were shocked as many people didnt think she would return or maybe debut solo or go to a different company (especially the haters). Ahyeon was a public favorite, and burgeoning It Girl and also so dangerously talented (pun unintended) that haters were happy she wasnt debuting. She was already so powerful as a trainee, that her version of Dangerously went viral, Charlie Puth (who sings it) did a reaction, and the song literally just won an award in SKorea, despite being released in 2016. She also got the attention of Calvin Klein on TikTok, so many people are saying she’ll be a new It Girl, potentially following in Jennie’s footsteps (fans also like to say that the new It Girl trio will be Ahyeon, Asa, and Pharita - one korean, one japanese, and one Thai).

Ahyeon wasn't my bias in the first place, but after the evaluation series, I love her more and more. Can't wait OT7 back again in April. Regardless all the rumors like the profit sharing % between her and YGE, plastic surgery, or health issues, I truly support Ahyeon back to the team. Babymonster ! Fighting !!

I don't know if anyone mentioned it to you but YG training has monthly evaluations that they perform on three stages (solo song, group song, and group dance). So in one month they are reheasing a song that they sing solo, one song with a few other trainees, and then a dance routine with a few other members. So image how difficult this is for the trainee. BLACKPNK talks about their trainee days in LIGHT UP THE SKY documentary on Netflix. So keep in mind that while Ahyeon had to change her song, she was still also reheasing a gourp song and dance routine with the other members. Also, Ahyeon and Rami attend Hamlim high school so I am sure that they also had finals while attending school around this time. Some people gloss over the fact and say that Ahyeon had 15 days to change her song so it isn't a big deal but in reality all of the member have this kind of pressure put on them while training.
We can look on this series as more of a journey that the member took ratyher than it being an elimination show. Some people will argue that it was an elimination show but what they fail to realize tha tthis is a YG trainee life. They don't know when they might be cut from the lineup. In fact that is how it is with most agencies. For example, with XG it looked like they were going to debut with 8 members, but if you notice that XG only has 7. Right before the debut, Airi was cut and she was actually practicing with the rest of the group their debut track. I am sure that in YG's case he had a set number of members in mind but the reason that BABYMONSTER is now a 7 member group is because of this last two months of evaluations. THE BLACKPINK MISSIONS and the LAST MISSION. Since it was recorded they were going to use it for marketing anyway and decided that because all 7 debut that they tell the story to create the hype and love for the members. But I am also betting that YG has a number in mind maybe it is because of budget or because they have never handled a girl group this big before so they wanted to keep close to BLACKPINK since they know how to make them a success. It seems that the girls knew the number of members that it was going to be since in one of the begining of the LAST EVALUATION, I think that it was Rora that said, "So it is really set" mening most likely that they were told we have x amont of slot for the group. I think that it was also because of these evaluations that YG changed his mind about keeping the number set and decided to make it a 7 member group.

I believe that Mr. Yang with "Scars To Your Beautiful" did not want to assign just a group performance but wanted to do a complete test on how the girls would deal with different aspects of self-management of a group. They chose the song, they assigned the lines distribution, they practiced facing the different problems, sometimes Ahyeon and sometimes Rami took the lead of the group solving some lack of coordination, Mr. Yang left it up to them to organize the movements on stage. They proved to do great team work!
My bias is chiquita. But i love ahyeon i need ahyeon bcoz i need like little jenlisa. Im excited on this april. I hope chiyeon they rap together.❤
