How exciting for both of you to get a dedicated room for each of your needs. Yes, lots of work but so worth it. So looking forward to seeing the finished room. Congrats.
One of the greatest joys that LEGO bricks provide is limitations. It forces you to be creative. You don't have all the bricks you want? Well now you have to be creative with the ones you have! I think that's a common theme, especially as kids, where a cardboard box can suddenly become a mountain, because you don't have a thousand bricks to build a mountain with. And as adults it's the limited space that usually becomes the sticking point and forces one to be creative about set placements and city layouts and storage and such. It's all part of the fun and joy of the hobby! :) Nice video.
Big respect - carpentry is an incredible skill and a highly sought skilled trade. Really happy for you to have your own Lego space. To make it a healthy space for you, suggest including an air filtration system (hepa filter) since you don’t have windows and building materials etc. off gas. My old workplace made us feel tired because of lack of ventilation.
Wow! We (Chris & Justine) are ridiculously happy for you. We have watched in awe for so long, being super impressed with your approach, use of space, and relentless love of Lego. 😊We’re so excited for what’s next in this new space. Cheers! 🍻
Thank you for sharing your experience of building a new LEGO room and redoing your LEGO city! It's always exciting to see how LEGO enthusiasts create and customize their own spaces for building and displaying their collections. I can understand how frustrating it must be to run out of space, but it's great that you're taking the initiative to create a new room to accommodate your growing LEGO collection. I recently destroyed and rebuilt my LEGO City
Wow! That's so exciting. So much news. Happy for your job change, for the new lego room and for Ben to have his own space for work. Can't wait to see the final result. ETA: The progress you made in just this video is really exciting to see.
Very exciting - if my garage had been attached to my home I probably would have gone down that route too - but the cabin is perfect for me and it I’m luck with the outlook too 😄 can’t wait to watch yours progress - best of luck Johanna - Greg👍
Wow, amazing how your creating something that I've always dreamed of doing ; A lego Room. So jealous, your video was so cool, it was brilliant to watch your idea take shape. I hope everything goes well with the lighting installation and ceiling. Absolutely supurb.
I love how you always adapt and make the most of what space you have. There are people with huge rooms/cities, I think we all know who I mean 😅 and yet I massively prefer yours because of how you utilise everything. So with this new space... I'm really interested to see what you do with it! P.S did not think you'd be into carpentry - that's an awesome skill to have!
I’ve always been interested in building things, but never knew how to do anything in that direction. So when I met Olly though the lego hobby and he said he’d be willing to train me I was so stoked. Such a pleasure to learn new skills. Though pretty hard work and when I’m not working I’m mostly sleeping during the week. Still, I should complain. I get the opportunity to do stuff like this myself now 😀
Coming along very nicely, i'm a partly qualified carpenter / joiner. I did a year long full time course for carpentry & joinery, back well before you were born. It was the late 80s early 90s. Once i finished the course i tried to get an apprenticeship but didn't have any luck, so gave up in the end with not having any luck getting one.
I’m learning on the job and really enjoying it. So lucky I had a mate who is willing to train me as I don’t know how I would have done it otherwise. Bills don’t stop for anything. :p
I grew up in the construction industry. I ended up becoming a painter, but I know quite a bit about carpentry as well. All of our LEGO tables, I made, for example. Cheers
I love your enthusiasm and you can see the true love for Lego. I watch a few UA-camrs who do Lego and some seem so disingenuous. I love this channel and I just get Lego for Xmas once a year, I’m a train nerd but we are all close in so many ways between these hobbies
That ceiling space looks like a goldmine for box storage. Shame it needs to sealed but I imagine if there was a hatch the ladder space would impede on the way you could use the room. Looking great so far and I am wildly jealous of the fun time you’re going to have filling it up!
There is access from the front still. Only 2/3 of the garage is now the room. The rest is still a workspace. We need the loft of storage so couldn’t loose that.
Wow exciting! Good thing that you and your husband will get your own designated spaces for work/hobbies. I’m curious to see if you’ll try something creative for lighting that room! I always loved seeing the natural light on your city whenever you showed it before, but now that there’s no windows I wonder how it will all look like
Omg I’m so excited for you guys! Dammit, I wish I knew this was happening- but now I know who to ask about what I should put where etc.. I’m in the same situation, the basement is finished, however- I moved out eons ago & just recently moved back so it’s become a dumping ground for furniture we don’t use & essentially all of my lego sets that are in boxes.. and my Guinea pig lol. Ugh it’s such a disaster! I just need to keep moving regardless of how overwhelming it seems- it likely isn’t nearly as bad as I keep thinking it is- I’m just waiting for some people to -ahem- move the furniture that isn’t mine out of there so I can stop tripping over it & then get to work repurposing furniture I’ve got & building up the stuff I will need! I’m so excited to see how this continues! You guys have done an amazing job so far! Also, I love that Ben updates you on the pigeons’ daily lives! Lol congrats!!!!!!!!!!
So exciting to see how it all unfolds and that you participate in the making of it. ODJ is excused to take the one or other tree down in your city 😜. Can’t wait to see how you will set the shelves up and how your city will look in the future.
Slow progress over here too. I’ve been working on it 3 months now but only when we get time which is not often. We are hoping to start building the first bits of furniture this Monday. Just wanted to wait realising these videos until I know some progress is made so nobody is waiting a month for update. That’s only for me to deal with 🤭😅
@@HighTeaToys I feel you on that, I’ve been doing mine as a side project to all of the others that I’ve got going on 😅 90% of the floorings in but had to double joist and insulate, finally started to get some plasterboard up there now so might actually look like a room soon 🤞🏼 Your new space will be great, it’s a nice size and will soon come together now the stud and plasterboard is up 👍🏼
Wow!! Amazing news, and a great new job, congratulations. Love the new space for the Lego , I did notice that the roof was quite high, so when you run out of space ( and you probably will) perhaps a upper level ! 😂 . 😊🌻😊
So many congratulations! Loving this! The amount of work you got done in just 3 days is insanity! It looks great! I cant even imagine how excited you are! Keep crackin! can't wait to see the series continue!
It’s pretty common for people in the UK to convert their garages. Seeing as Olly had already done one for himself it was the best solution to our space ‘problem’ as the garage was under utilised for the amount of space we had. All the construction was new to me, so. I basically was learning from Olly as I went though he hadn’t don’t it often before either. He’s a skilled carpenter/joiner whom I’m apprenticing with at the moment so knows a thing or two. But many things are just figuring it out as we go along. As we didn’t need to build anything structural, just stud walls, it’s a pretty straightforward project. Though not without its challenges as you will see as we go along.
This is really exciting and a shame you can’t use the whole garage. With the exclusion of a window has benefits of cutting damaging UV light out and opens up the diversity of the room. Looking forward to seeing further developments 👍😀
We did consider it, but when we moved the fact Ben would have a dedicated workspace in the garage to ticker with his scooters (The manual kind) was a real wish list item for him. And I didn’t want to take that away. And the storage is handy so it made more sense for us to do it this way. It’s already significantly bigger than what I have now.
The breezeblock is between mine and my neighbours garage so not the best view. But I think not having windows is an advantage. Though I may have to take the door out so I may replace it with one with window.
Oh gosh no. Sadly. We are just about at the, getting some bits built stage, we have to do this in the odd weekend we get time so progress is super slow frustratingly. A really challenge for somebody as impatient as me. But I thought I’d give myself a little buffer of time so you guys won’t need to wait as long in between updates.
@@HighTeaToys well I would say it’s probably better to take it slow and make sure you are happy with the end result rather than rush and regret. I look forward to seeing how you plan the space out
Really enjoyed watching that video, it’s great to watch and exciting to see the progress of your new Lego room, can’t wait for part 2 😊
Thank you! There should be a next instalment this Saturday! Working hard on the background on progress. Very excited about it all 😊

Being into DIY, I'd love to hear more about your construction journey and some insight as to the choices in building the new room from a garage.
It’s pretty common for people in the UK to convert their garages. This is going to be epic, looking forward to the future updates. Congrats on the work on this episode
HighTea I love ya but I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing beans in a breakfast setting
Hahahaha. Trust me, it took me many years of living in the UK to come round to it 🤣
Ohhhh progress. Congrats.
It's only been 3 days, I need episode 2.
Hi! I love your videos.
I'm getting a room too for my collection. Can't wait to see how yours turns out. :)
How exciting! It’s so nice to have the space!
You should put your city on a table
Garages can have windows ;) easy enough to open a window in those block walls
The breezeblock is between mine and my neighbours garage so not the best view. But I think not having windows is an advantage. Though I may have to take the door out so I may replace it with one with window.
Good luck. An exciting project and fully customisable layout (although judging that you filmed this 2 months ago, you are probably all set up by now)

01:36 wait you’re a carpenter? Must have missed this life update in the discord 🤔🤷😂
Hahaha well yea. Joiner really. Building inbuilt furniture mostly. But a variety of stuff
Ben heel erg benieuwd hoe het er uit komt te zien. En gefeliciteerd met het behalen van de 10k abonnees 😄
Dank je wel! Het is nog al een klus maar hopelijk kan ik iets mooi maken met een gelimiteerd budget.
I’m close but not first, but I am the first person to say, “Have a nice day y’all”
Eco friendly insulation, me like
And then there's me.. wondering how you plan to fit a car in the garage now
Hahaha. Hardly anybody in the Uk actually uses their garage to put a car in. Much more common to make rooms, workshops, storage rooms out of them.
@@HighTeaToys I figured. Do you rent or own by the way?
