Do you consider diet? As long as I avoid food preservatives and certain foods and beverages (coffee, tea, colas) I don't have symptoms. I also take a number of supplements including phytosterols and stinging nettle root extract. I'm 70.

When mine first struck about aged 50 I was given a standard medicine by my doctor It didnt work too well and I felt terrible . I now take 450 mg Saw Palmetto it is superb It . took a day or two to kick in It was a game changer for me and ive used it for the last five years . If I go two days without it the symptoms come back. If I have a couple of coffees and a lager though all hell breaks loose. Curiously the arthritis in my hands I had has disappeared maybe because its an anti inflammatory.

Some nice information.
A healthy diet that included plenty of fruit and veg along with a lot of physical exercises is also good to protect yourself from such issues I guess. And if medications is needed then better to go for herbal. I followed this for my father's BPH issues and took Dr. Vikram Chahuan's advice for the herbal treatment. My Father is fit and healthy.

Be cautious of urolift, there are a number of downsides they don't tell you about until a few days before the surgery. Also, for me and 1000s of others it did nothing.

@@rodbutler8069 I want a procedure done myself and all the doctors ( five of them) insist on doing a cancer biopsy. I do NOT want a biopsy. I want to able to urinate freely. I made my decision based on patients feedback on their experiences with different procedures. I opt for the HOleP.
I will not agree to a biopsy unless under full sedation when given a cystoscope test.

there's a theory from china and europe that bph is due to prostatic cells swelling to try to glean iodine from the body (esp. after the age of 40-50). studies indicate that a few hundred micrograms to 5 miligrams of I2 iodine per day shrink the prostate considerably or prevent bph 99.99% of the time. in china, korea, japan, iceland, norway where iodine-rich seaweeds/kelp are routinely consumed (2-6 mgs net of total iodine/day), there are up to 5-12 times lower rates of bph, prostate cysts/stones, prostate cancer, and breast cancer/cysts (and other nodules, tumors, cysts). chinese/koreans/japanese also consume isoflavones-rich tofu and soy foods that are naturally inhibit dht. also, magnesium and recently astaxanthin have been shown, along with vit d, to prevent bph and prostate cancer. all the above are far far more effective than other micronutrients mentioned in the video and 100 times more effective than lycopene/beta-carotene which can actually turn pro-oxidant and have the opposite effect. [people should research and ask their doctors if iodine is ok for them. but in the nations listed above, higher iodine intake is part of their culture and diet.]

I have this problem unfortunately, and doctors say it can be treated only, and not cure. However, I have done research about the matter and came to the conclusion that doctors dont want to say, and it is the hormones in food that mess up with our genital organs. Some men and women can get rid off these hormones and some like me can't. Possibly eating less fast food and GMO's products can improve or stop the growing of it, but shrinking. I am not sure. Definitely caffeine makes it worse.
