Welcome back to our channel! Many of you have asked whether big firms recruit from "previously disadvantaged universities". I believe that Bright Tibane's story answers this question.
Bright Tibane is a newly promoted equity partner at Bowmans. Bright, as he often describes himself, is a village boy from Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga. He matriculated from Mhlangana Secondary School in Limpopo and completed his LLB from the University of Limpopo and his LLM at Wits University.
In 2012, Bright started his journey as a candidate attorney and quickly moved up the ranks to partner within 9 years.

My history teacher also advised to do Law and I'm in my second year of LLB, and I am loving it with all of my heart. I can relate to a lot of what Bright went through and I am very motivated to work hard now more than ever.

Dear TheViks, thank you for sharing this video; it was exactly what I needed to hear. Sometimes we doubt ourselves thinking we are not smart and capable enough to make it big, after watching this video, I already see myself as a future partner in one of the biggest law firms in SA. Thank you very much for your time and effort invested in this channel so that we can see beyond dusty mirrors; you did clear the mirror for us to see that it is possible to achieve your dreams. This story is so motivating that I would be lying if I said "I was never motivated."
Bright has just gave me prbabily the bit of hope that I needed I'm so inspired by his story🙏🙏
My question is if you go to law school at a late age perhaps at 35 years old and you perform and get top marks will the big law firms recruit you bcz of your marks and work ethic compared to a young 25 year old 🙏

From my experience, I’ve seen quite a few people who have started they articles quote late in their career. So even after 35. So I don’t think age has an impact on your ability to secure articles.
I also completed my LLB at UL. I’m graduating next month 😊his story is so inspirational
