I just got a turquoise kakariki for my birthday 2 days ago. 😍My family has raised birds my whole life and we just love these cutie pies. They’re so fun and quirky. I have no doubt he will be mimicking my Indian ringnecks in no time. Yours is beautiful too. I’m glad to see others love theirs as much as we love ours. 💗🦜
I wonder, because you also have budgies - is he louder than them? Is he also kibitizing all day long like budgies? The sounds he makes are just too cute 😁
Hi there thank you for your question 😁 No not really, I say budgies are more loud and more frequent noise makers than kakarikis. Kakarikis are mostly quiet birds, but if they feel like they wanna sing loud (in the morning for example) they do that usually in short intervals. Also I heard from people who have kakarikis that mimic human language say that their birds talk very much. But again, it's not very loud. (not louder than normal human speech). I say kakarikis are great pets for apartments if you have enough space for them. (They need much space to fly and run around everyday since they are not sitting still as much as budgies do for example). Kakarikis may not suit everyone. But for me they are my nr 1 favourite bird of all time 🥰

Having canaries (colored breeds) made me quite patient for loooud high pitched sound (one of my guys is terrible - no budgie is as loud as him. He is comparable to a lovebird, but sings half a day - some of his notes just make my brain jingle). Love the kakariki's voices 😍

And Kakarikis can't produce such high pitched sounds when they sing. As I said, kakarikis can be a little loud if they decide they want to. (But it's not a persistent sound). I think Kakarikis are one of the most quiet parrot species there is 😊
