    On the newer Chevrolet trucks you have to scan the QR code on the pillar next to the driver door.

    Does the g80 come exclusively on the Z71 trucks?

    • @notasolution
      @notasolution 2 роки тому

      No not at all, my truck is not a z71, it's just a 2LT and I've seen it on fleet spec base model 2wd work trucks as well. I believe it was an independent option for almost any trim level

    how has your transmission held up ? how many miles on it ?

    • @notasolution
      @notasolution 2 роки тому +1

      Oh definitely not believe me, she'll lock up in 4 lo 4 high and even 2 high as long as you've got the traction control off and spin the wheels a little, I've well tested that lol smokey burnout machine for sure. But as of right now my trucks got about 125k miles on it and the transmission was starting to worry me (hard shifting, feeling sluggish, running hotter than it used to etc) however alot of people were telling me/i read that it is very important on these trucks to change the trans fluid and filter, so I finally broke down and said what the heck I'll give it a shot, and since I changed the trans fluid and filter, I'm not kidding you when I tell you that the transmission feels better than the day I bought the truck off the lot (I got it used with 20k). Trans temps are normal now again, shifts are Cadillac level of buttery, and all the ol 5.3s power has definitely been restored. I dont know what it is but for some reason, doing a trans fluid and filter change on these trucks does 100% make a night and day difference on them, so, so far so good long story short

      @@notasolution hey quick question.
      did you do a trans flush when you did the filter and trans fluid on your truck?

    • @notasolution
      @notasolution 2 роки тому

      @@Jake_Hynds no I didnt do a full flush, I just dropped the trans pan, let all the fluid drain out that came out of it just from dropping the pan, cleaned the pan out, changed the filter and put it back together and filled it back up.

    I have a 2003 Suburban 2WD with G80 and Traction Control. Would I also need to disable Traction Control for the G80 to engage?

    where did you get your push bar with lights from ?

    • @notasolution
      @notasolution 3 роки тому +1

      I got mine off of craigslist back when craigslist was still the #1 way to find used stuff. The light pods are just off of amazon though. The bar was a pain to bolt on and wire up though, you have to take the factory tow hooks out in order to mount it and one of the bolts has to be cut if you dont want to take the whole front end of the truck off to have enough room to get it out. As long as you dont mind losing your tow hooks and cutting a bolt though, I think it's a great lil aesthetic mod. Took about 3 hours total I wanna say not too bad

    • @mikerayle6103
      @mikerayle6103 Рік тому

      A chevy dealer should be able to look up your options on a build sheet from Vin # I just found this out today he printed it out and I asked if I could keep it. Has a lot of info on it that I didn't know and would have no way of knowing without it. Because it's what the truck is instead of guessing from what other people have put out there. With so many different truck models

    You got the GU4 gearing. Horrible for towing with a embarrassing pathetic 6,200lbs max towing lol.

    • @notasolution
      @notasolution Рік тому +1

      That is correct, would not recommend the 3.08 gearing to anyone unless they do at least 85% interstate cruising at 70mph +. It makes the truck feel so much slower and sluggish even when empty. I have towed 7500 pounds with my truck though and it felt perfectly fine, the 6200 lbs limit is a little conservative imo, although I wouldnt push it much more than the 7500 lbs load I had. If I wined up having this truck for a while, I do plan to 3.42 swap it, tremendous difference in drivability

      @notasolution I have a 2015 Z71 4x4 LT/2LT 5.3 crew cab and didn't know anything about the GU4. I bought a 15ft aluminum boat with a 2cyl 30hp engine, trolling motor and 2 new batteries and couldn't figure out why my truck sucked pulling it. Found out about the GU4 and was about ready to trade it in for a Ford or Ram lol. The 5.3 LT engine is a decent engine but has no top end. I use Mobil1 advanced full synthetic oil and a can of LiquiMoly oil additive every oil change to stop the ticking from the afm.
